Absolvation of restless will.
Having followed the note you found hanging on a board in the street, you arrive in a small village. A thin mist covers the ground as you approach the pub. Inside, men drink to recuperate from a long, hard day of work. Seeing you come in, one of the more elderly-looking men comes over to you and asks the following: "Have you come for the note? If so, come with me to the back. I will explain to you what this "hunt" entails." He then goes to the back of the pub and opens a door leading to an empty backroom. What do you do ?
[I should mention there can only be a maximum of five players]
*Himeno folds up the note, following the man into the back room* Alright, although make it quick. I'd rather get this over with as soon as possible.
Test
*I follow the standar protocol: I ready my knife, still not drawing it, and I use my best poke.r face, waiting for the man to speak* So... is this safest place you have to talk?
*Skips into the room* What note? I wanna see it!
Yeah... this is why I asked
( you are all free to talk inbetween updates by the way)
( I'll wait a tiiiiiiny bit more before starting)
Ohh! I wanna pet the kitty! *Pulls Hyll into a headlock and begins petting her*
*Hyllock slips her grip and grabs Kotori's arm, pushing it on her back as she locked her neck with another arm* Hey, who said you can touch?!
Grr! *Kotori Flips Hyll onto the table violently* I said! I wanna pet the KITTY!!!! *Sits on Hyll and begins roughly rubbing her head*
*Luckily, since it looks like both girls were trained, Hyllock knows how to fall. So the hit is less hard* W-Woaah! *But this was highly surprising! Instead of getting angry, it looks like she blushes* S-Stooop! I dun wanna!
The old man sits down at the table as he looks at you three. "Well, you certainly seem like the "adventurous" type. What I need you to do is get rid of the mist. The mist settled in some time ago, and has never left since then. At first we didn't pay it any mind, but recently it's been affecting our crops, and maybe even our folks... The wife's been having some awful fits of headache and so did the kids. We'd been starting to think the mist's the cause of all this. What's more, the previous adventurers we sent to get rid of it never came back... This mist is bad, and you have to help us!! We'll reward you! We'll make it worth your while ! So please, I beg of you... Help us..." His eyes tear up as he pleads. You can hear the main hall has fallen into silence as well as the whole village awaits your answer. What will you do ?
*Himeno crosses her arms and gives the two an annoyed look* Could you at least TRY to act reasonable? I swear, this alone is testing my patience...
And... just get rid of some mist? Shouldn't be hard. I've dealt with worse. So, how should we do this?
*I need to escape Kotori's grip first... but I show my thumbs up to the man* C-Count with my support! As an elite agent of HaxHound, I e-ensure you I will end with your problems! N-Nyan! Stop it!
The old man looks at Himeno "first you must promise you'll do it"
Waddya gonna give me if I help you! I want Stuff!
I promise. I wouldn't come all the way out here if I wasn't willing to do something like this.
The village elder points to two bags on the counter on your left. One is bigger then the other "We'll give you half of this village's riches, and two of our holy stones. We're willing to go to any lengths to get rid of this scourge*
Uh?! Wow! But HaxHound just acepts normal payment... along with whatever I find during the mission! So is ok, I don't need your bags
Hmm...... Ok! Daddy will be so proud of Kotori for helping these pathetic people!
OOC: Mind if little-ole me joins in once your poor, wonderful little characters get outside?
"Very well" The elder looks relieved of your agreement. As he lets out a small sigh, he begins explaining the details. " You see, as I said, this mist is malevolent. We had experts come over to analyze it, and it turns out, this mist can make people go mad. it also has the power to prevent any form of spiritual power from being used. We had priests come over, magicians exorcists, you name it. Adventurers like you are our last resort... We found out that the source of the mist is a house in the forest. It lies high up in the trees and rumor says it used to be the house of a famed scientist. I don't know much more though. You'll need to figure the rest out for yourselves." [Alright, time for some rules. So, there are two challenges to this story: 1) no magic. This is lowkey a no fighting story. You'll be up against ghosts. the best you can hope to do is hide from them. The other for no magic rule is so you have to do the puzzles the way they are intended. I don't think they'll give you any trouble though, so don't worry. 2) You'll loose your sanity if you stay too long. You have 18 sanity points. Each turn spent in in the tree house (this includes the tree itself) will drain you of one sanity point. special events inside the house may drain more points. It'd be nice if your character acted more and more insane as they slowly loose their sanity, but you don't have to force yourself to do it. "What happens if loose all my sanity?" Once your sanity hits zero, you'll be insane. You get one turn to act like it. Once that turn is over, you'll be sent outside the house and you'll have to either wait for the completion of the plot or wait for the rest of your group to be thrown outside. If everyone is expelled, I'll probably take a break or even postpone the story to the next day. If you have any questions, ask away]
( and yeah lou, you'd be great to have here ! :D)
Looks like we have our destination. Let's go, shall we? *Himeno adjusts her gloves and looks around at everyone*
*Hyllock nods, getting up* So I can't use my persona... no problem! I was trained to this kind of misions... and I was also trained to resist high mental strains! That mist will be history in no time!
(Question!, Is it possible to recover SAN)
HA! This sound Fun!!!
( uh... Good question. I suppose you could. I'll award san if you do things that would be considered as generally mind-soothing. )
*Jumps off the table and Runs outside* Lets go already!
*Outside of the pub, in the middle of the village square a young, questionably dressed lady can be seen attempting to get the villagers' attention, though at most a few villagers glance at her suspiciously* Come one, come all to the show of a lifetime. For I, the Great Sorceress Magilou have decided to bring my show to this dreary little place. *After a few minutes Magilou leans backward, left hand over her heart and right over her head* Oh dearest me. It seems even here no one wants to see my show. However shall a poor, innocent maiden like myself make it in this cold, cruel world? OOC: Well then.... Kinda always speaking nonsense here so insanity's going to be a bit ahrd to show
*Uhhh... I've seen weirder things... Hyllock just keeps walking behind Kotori*
*Himeno sighs and follows them, only giving Magilou a confused look*
( I'll let you make your way to the forest. it lies beyond the fields north of the village. it looks rather large when you get close)
( oh and I guess the elder gave you some indications to follow to get to the tree you need to head to. )
*Hineno pauses at the edge of the forest.* So this is the place. It feels... odd already... so we go this way from here...
OOh! I wanna see a show! I wanna see it! *Runs over and sits in front of Magi excitedly*
( I'm waiting for you all to regroup btw. also hyll'll be gone for a bit. )
*Magilou quickly straightens up at Kotori's interest and smiles, waving her arms in the air* Then you came to the right place. The one and only Great Sorceress Magilou has arrived to help. I'd rather have a bigger crowd, but with you three, the show can begin *Magilou waves one hand in the air dramatically..... And nothing happens. She tries a few more times before looking down, dejected* Oh dearest me, not even my little spells work anymore? What kind of cruel, thoughtless world is this?
Ahahaha! That was funny! Hey! You know what will be funnier!? Come with us! We're gonna kill the mist! *Grabs Magi's hand and drags her to the forest edge*
*Magilou jumps in surprise, but doesn't resist being dragged away* Well then, aren't you rather direct... *Magilou straightens up when they reach the forest's edge* How about you try saying it like this. "Please help us miss Magilou, we'd be EVER so lost without you." *Magilou smirks* Well, now its your turn.
Oh. There you are... And it looks like you brought a friend.
(good, we can finally start. It's already been an hour and we haven't even started. Why are all my plots like this? )
ooc: Rip Liam. Oh well, let us begin!
Ooc: OBJECTION! Sup, I'm here to party. Don't know why I said objection, but hey I'm random.
( aye) As you reach the forest, you feel a sense of unease creeping up on you. Your gut confirms the sayings of the old man: this mist is unnatural and it's thickness increases as you head in the direction he gave you.
( ah welcome starry. join in on the team)
*Himeno composes herself and heads onwards, but still keeps a wary eye out.* It's just as he said... The closer we get, the harder it is to focus my Gift...
You're funny, Why would I act like you're better than me? Or that I need your help? I just wanna laugh when you get eaten by a monster!
*Follows Hime, Laughing*
*suddenly appears* hey guys, whats-where did my mana go? I can't use magic. Well, except for this. *Suddenly on a Segway* don't know why, but summoning still works on a few things, like a bag of chips.
*Magilou remains behind for a moment, hugging herself and shivering* Oh dearest me, what a cold, dreadful little woman. Wishing harm on such an innocent little maiden. However will I.... *Magilou looks around and sees everyone else proceeding forward, and so runs after them* Hey!! Don't just leave a poor maiden behind. I can hardly even defend myself. What if a wolf, no, a bear came to take me away?
( star, you read the rules yes ? )
(indeed I have...just now, actually.)
( good ^^, then we'll start now. You'll begin loosing sanity as soon as you enter the house )
ooc: Fun.
(but I'm already insane...meh, not like there's a limit to how insane someone can be.)
( it's the, "I'm going on a murder rampage " kind of insanity by the way. i get the feeling it should be mentioned)
OOC: Basically you'll have similar trouble to me in actually showing it. Since we both pretty much always speak nonsense.
After quite a bit of walking, you finally arrive at the tree. You can tell it's the one thanks to the decaying corpses of the past adventurers laying strewn around. they're in a pretty bed shape, as though they were thrown from atop the tree. Speaking of the tree, you spot a doorknob on it. The tree is pretty large and it looks like it could easily host a dozen or so people standing next to each other. What do you do ?
*Magilou stands to the side of the doorknob and makes a dramatic shrugging motion* Well, if only some wonderful little heroes would open up and make sure the place is safe before some delicate little maiden gets hurt. Wouldn't that be great?
*Himeno tries her best to ignore the bodies and reaches for the doorknob* This... is certainly the right place...
Huh... that's a big tree...I feel like walking in would be obvious, so let's hold off on that. I'm more interested in taking a closer look at the adventures and the surrounding area.
You go ahead and do that, Segway Girl. I'm going in. *Without another word, she opens the door*
(oh, something I should mention: You'd do well to explore the place. This is a house, not a corridor that leads straight to the ending. player input will ultimately shape your experience: I provide the bones, the structure. but you'll be the ones to flesh it out! )
Ooh! I wanna see you get mauled by a bear!
Okay then, I'll just see what they have on them and loot their bodies. Besides, you never know what you'll find looting some bodies. *Wheels up to the bodies and searches them for anything useful, and taking some armor if they have any.*
Looting the bodies nets you 247 gil and a super potion. You also get the legendary balmung, but it's too high level for you to equip.
*looks at the text box that suddenly appeared in front of her* huh...neat...also that's a fucking awesome sword. Could probably use it for something later, but the money and potion are definitely useful! Now, to look around and see if there's anything else in the area that could come in handy! *Wheels around the treehouse looking for anything useful.*
there's nothing else there. The narrator thinks star should stop messing around in a plot about ghosts and get back to the hauntage
Fine, fine. Let's get this thing started. *Wheels up into the treehouse through the front door*
*begins climbing the tree*
Assuming you all enter the house, you come face to face with a gigantic flight of stairs. on your right, you can also see a door with a button next to it. What'll you do?
*Magilou walks over to the button, and, after looking at it for a moment, slams it with both hands, before standing straight with one hand on her hat and another on her hip* And this is where the fun starts. Can't expect to find anything unless you snoop around a bit after all. Oh the mystery, the excitement. My poor little heart can hardly take it.
*Himeno decides to head up the stairs. Might as well see what's up there.*
Buttons please. *Wheels over to the button and waits to see what happens*
Update
Kotori, with her mad climbing skills, climbs and climbs until reaching what seems to be a terrace or balcony or however those are called in english. Climbing from the outside allows her to not lose any sanity this turn. There's a murky pond southward and a glass door in front of her. Magilou and Star press the button, but nothing happens. From the looks of the buttons, you can guess it's an elevator. Himeno meanwhile begins her lengthy ascension. After a while, she reaches a short platform which extends towards the middle of the tree. There, a short ladder topped off by a large hatch await her. What will you do ?
San: 17 *Magilou continues hitting the button* Come on.... Don't be boring. What kind of pitiful little button does nothing at all? Would be rather pointless don't you think?
So this is the top? *She grabs onto the ladder and climbs up, attempting to open the hatch.*
I know just what to do! I've done this many times already, and it's fixed and broken many things! *Gets off her Segway, kicks the button hard, and gets back on her Segway.* I'm not carrying this thing all the way up, you know.
SAN: 17 as well, I guess
*looks for any Windows, if there is, Kotori dives in through the nearest window, If not, she kicks the glass door and enters*
(sanity: 0. Oh wait, nope, 17.)
Magilou and star's attempts at making the elevator all end up in vain. It seems there's simply no electricity to power it as the buttons don't even light up. Himeno enters the mansion. she finds herself in a small room with various things stored there like a ladder, some toolkit and old musty crates. Inside the house, the mist is particularly thick, making things a bit hard to see when combined with the reigning darkness. Thankfully, she spots what seems to be a switch to turn on the light next to one of the four doors that present themselves on each side of the room. ( north east south and west) Kotori jumps through the window and lands in the living room, albeit somewhat rolled up in the curtain. With streaming light now lighting up the living room, the room appears in full detail. there are four doors: the windowed door which leads to the balcony, and three wooden doors on each cardinal direction left ( south, east and north). between Kotori and the north door is a table with some boards and leftover meals. Next to the east door is a broken television surrounded by couches . Two large cabinets ( or wardrobes or whatever) stand tall in the south east corner, right next to the last door.
Let's get some light in here. *She flicks the switch, then attempts to open the north door* SAN: 16
...well that didn't work...guess we should find the generator or something. Those are usually in the basement, so we should look for a way into the basement! Then again, it might also be powered from up top, so we should look for it upstairs first. Who knows, there might be a way into the basement from there. *Gets off, levitates her Segway, and walks up the stairs with her Segway behind her. She did say she wasn't going to carry it up...* (Sanity: 16.)
SAN: 16 *unaware of what electricity is, Magilou seems focused on mashing the button* Shouldn't something be happening by now.... I swear, this is that traitor's doing, isn't it?
Himeno flicks the light switch, but nothing happens. It seems the power is out here as well. Opening the north door goes smoothly. She now finds herself into a hallway that seems to curve around the room she was just in. in front of her is another door. Star reaches the hatch. it's still open. Magilou presses the buttons still to no avail. she'll be rotting here with the other adventurers at this rate.
One door after another. Wish I'd brought paper for a map... *Examining the walls as she walks, she eventually approaches the door and slowly turns the knob. This time, rather than open it normally, she only opens it a little to peek in.* ...This place is really getting to me. SAN: 15
*climbs up the ladder and through the open hatch, her Segway close behind* it's a damn good thing I can still levitate things I summon. Makes things so much easier.
*Grabs the boards and kicks down the south door* Experience has taught me to steal anything not nailed down!
SAN 17
*Magilou looks around in frustration* Fine, be that way, stupid button. Not like I.... *Magilou notices she is alone and runs up the stairs* H... Hey!! Don't leave an innocent maiden like myself behind.. Who knows what sort of nasty, terrible beasts could live here San: 15
(San: 15.)
update
Through the small opening of the door, Himeno spots a woman in front of the stove. She seems to be softly singing a song. It's a bit hard to hear though. There's also the fact that all lights are off, and nothing seems to be turned on, including the stove she's intently watching. From the crack, you can also see a sink and a large fridge on the east side of the room. Kotori, not spending any time to look around decides to take the first couple of things she sees, including the framed architectural map of the house (I'll pm it to you to ensure no one has ooc knowledge.) and the board left on the table. Being brash and seemingly in a hurry though, she fails to notice what she's taking in her hands is completely infested with maggots and other disgusting vermin which immediately begin gnawing on your hand as you lay your hands on their board-homes. You loose one sanity point. As you calm down from your fright, you head to the south door. It opens up without a hitch and you reach the playroom. Various toys are strewn around, with a table on the north-west corner. above that side of the room are shelves with dolls. their beady eyes fixed on you for some reason. You can't help but feel as though they peer straight into your soul. there's a curtained window on the south wall and another door on the eastern wall. Magilou runs up the stairs, reaching the hatch, however, no one is there to meet her complaints. Star finds herself in a small room with various things stored there like a ladder, some toolkit and old musty crates. Inside the house, the mist is particularly thick, making things a bit hard to see when combined with the reigning darkness. There are four doors, one of which has a light switch next to it.
*With numerous red flags popping up from this alone, Himeno quietly closes the door and hurries back the way she came.* Not going that way. I'll try the south door, maybe...
First Maggots! Now dolls! *breaks the window and looks outside, stepping out if she's able to* San 15
Oh sweet, a toolkit! Fuck yeah, gonna get me some tools to use that aren't high in level because if they are then I won't be able to use them! *Walks over to the toolkit and opens it up, looting everything that's good to loot. She's starting to become a pirate at this rate.* (San: 14)
*Magilou, slightly panicked upon reaching the hatch, runs back down the stairs and out the door, both arms in the air* OH COME ON!! Such a scary, dreary place is no home for a poor maiden like myself OOC: Sorry, turns out I've got to go early. Good luck to you all.
( no problem. they won't make it today methinks)
update comming
Himeno navigates her way through the hallway and reaches the south hallway. Here, two doors present themselves. one on the right side and one on the left side. Choices, choices. Kotori breaks the window, and probably also opens the curtains, illuminating the area. From there, she can see the ground and how high up she actually is. to have been able to climb all the way up here without a hitch is quite miraculous. Star opens the toolkit, something the gm hadn't foreseen even though he should have. she pilfers a wrench, some screws and a screw driver as well as a small hammer. It appears they haven't seen much use though. they're almost like new. Magilou runs the fuck away. hopefully she'll make it back safely and won't get devoured by the rabid bears that haunt the place.
*checks the map* Hmm....... I wanna go..... Here! *exits the playroom through the north, and goes through the east living room door*
San 14
*Himeno stares at the two doors, then opens the left one. Not as cautious this time. She's already starting to feel that tension of lowering sanity- something's she's used to, and something that's basically a time bomb in here* SAN: 13
He really should have seen this coming. Oh well, at least I can Steal more shit now that I can take nails off of things with this hammer. The Wrench, screws, and Screwdriver will also be helpful for things. I'll use the wrench for WHacking things cause it's made of mostly metal and won't break easily. These screws probably go somewhere, and if not, I can always use them to screw something that shouldn't open shut. Hmm...now, what about these Crates? There might be something useful in these. *Opens the crates using her hammer to not smash then open like a dumbass and instead open them like any normal person would do...though she's a bit forceful and way too Eager to open it.* (San: 13)
Kotori enters the hallway. She can hear odd rummaging noises coming from behind the door right infront of her. Himeno boldly opens the left door, leading her into what seems to be a study. On the sides, shelves with books and glass pots in which odd animals are conserved. in front of her is a large desk with various documents and other small things. The ground is covered by a carpet, giving a noticeable change to the usual wooden ground. Behind the desk are two curtains covering the windows. Star opens the crates, only to release a putrid odor. the infectious smell comes from decayed corpses, furs and entrails from various animals. Livers, brains, pelts, antlers, paws, you name it and the crates have it. What on earth would they need all these for ?
Just keep going! Just keep going! *enters the east door, right in front of her and looks around* Ugh! This room smells like mom.
San 13 *Kotori picks up the pace, she's getting a little impatient*
*Himeno picks up some of the papers from the desk, shoving open the curtains to get at least some light to read by. Who knows, the documents could have some info about this place.* SAN: 12
Bleh! Gross! *Seals it back up and duct tapes it shut...well, more shut.* it's a good thing I always carry a roll of duct tape on me, praise the greatest fixing device ever made. Hmm...now what should I do? Hmm...well, let's see what's behind door number one! *Opens door number one very carefully and quietly, only taking a peek inside. She's doing things a bit more sanely than even I, the narrator, thought she would. Is her being insane actually her being sane? At this point, not even I know. Seriously, I didn't get the memo.* (San: 12)
OOC: edit, Kotori Kicks the door down
Kotori, loudly kicking the door open breaks it causing a big ruckus audible throughout the whole house. Star and Himeno loose a sanity point from the scare of this sudden noise when they're both concentrated. Upon entering the room, she spots star who seemed to have been watching through the door until Kotori cam crashing in. Star, spying through the gap, sees a hallway and two doors. one on the eastern side and one on the western side. Himeno, making some light in the room now peruses through the documents. While walking over to the window, she hears a metallic "clang" on a certain spot under the carpet. One of the documents grabs her attention. it's a handwritten note, looks almost like a memo and reads the following: " She's trying to learn that song on her piano now. It's heartwarming, really. But I need to make sure she doesn't get access to my lab. I think I should change the code one of these days. But what song to use? Well I can worry about that after I made this last delivery." Searching through the other documents, you find nothing of concrete information about that delivery. The papers all seem to be about his job, which seems to be about delivering things for a certain someone.
*Looks for a way up* Where's the second floor? *Ignores Star* Santa 12
So a song is the- *Himeno flinches at the sudden noise from a certain someone breaking down a door in the distance, dropping the document onto the floor. She takes a deep breath and lifts up the carpet to search for the source of the earlier clang.* It's fine... just got to keep looking...
Gah! *Runs into the Hall, opens the right door, and runs in, making sure to close it behind her. Fucking spooked, yo.* (San: 10)
Kotori, looking around the entrance hall spots a square hole under which lies a movable ladder. You can use it to go up, it seems safe. Himeno, while lifting the carpet, hears faint running noises in the hallway. Underneath the carpet, she finds a small metallic hatch with a turn lever. it doesn't appear to be locked. Star hurriedly enters the piano room, a medium sized room with a a piano in the middle atop a podium. the podium sounds beautiful and must've cost a lot. Wait... sounds? It doesn't take a genius to realize the piano is being played, but with that thing open ( you know, the thing under which all the wires are. the one you open up) she can't see who's playing it. there are benches on her left and right. Every time the song makes a false note, the song repeats. again. and again. and again.
Is there... *Not wanting to find out who's running nearby, she yanks at the lever and attempts to go down the hatch as fast as possible.* Come on, come on... SAN: 9
*places the ladder under the hole, then climbs up into the 2nd floor*
San 11
*"huh...kinda it's a haunted piano probably...oh! I know just what to do! This must be some kinda side quest where if I complete it, I'll get a reward and move onwards! Well, the least I can do is see what's on the other side...by moving very carefully and slowly as to not disturb the player of course. No one likes it when you mess them up!" And so, that's just what she did...she thought that, by the way. She didn't say anything, but she did think it.*
San Francisco 9, yo.
Himeno pulls the hatch open and jumps down, landing in a dark room with machinery, tubes and an open fuse box. Kotori climbs the ladder and reaches the hall to the second floor. it's an open hall with two corridors, one going west and one south. on the north side of the room is a spiraling staircase that goes quite a ways up. Star slowly moves to the side of the piano, slowly revealing what seems to be a little girl. she's hunched over on her piano as she plays so you can't quite make out her face, but you audibly hear her soft sobbing as you get closer. She seems to be crying as she plays the song. The hiccups in her playing seem to become more frequent.
WAIT
I forgot to mention for kotori: the access to the stairway is blocked by a tall makeshift barrier.
A fuse box... Maybe I can get the power back on. *With one last glance at the hatch above her, Himeno rushes over to the fuse box. She examines it closely and mutters to herself* How do you fix these again? SAN: 8
*Pulls the ladder up and leans it against the railing, trying to climb it from the side* The map doesn't....... hmm......
San 10
*"huh... she's crying...well, it's a good thing I have motherly instincts... despite not being a mother at all. (Forever alone sad face)." She walks up the child and steels herself for a jump scare because there's no fucking way she's getting caught dead in one of those moments.* Umm, excuse me? Could I maybe ask you why you're crying? I want to help you stop crying, okay?
San Diego 8, son.
ooc: food time, so if I'm not back in time, just... have Himeno attempt to fix the fuse box or look around if the former is successful
After examining the fuse box, it quickly becomes apparent that some of the fuses are missing. it's not going to function at this rate. Himeno has no choice but to look for fuses. Sadly, the only place where placing the ladder would get you past the gate, is where the hole stands. my scenarium has thwarted your attempt at speed-running. besides, you couldn't do anything up there yet. As star comes closer to the child, a freezing chill runs up her spine. Every cell of her body is screaming out: " This is a bad idea ! Don't do this!" As she gets closer, the girl stops playing and says. "Why have you come here?"
Uhh... because the mist is supposedly coming from here and hurting people, which is bad? Look, if you want me dead, I'll jump out the window and kill myself, but I can't exactly leave someone crying. So, do you want some help or not? I'm offering myself here, least you can do is humor me a bit. (San Jose 7, probably running out of gags soon.)
Tch! Damn you conveniently located hole! *kicks down the west door, forgetting to put the ladder back down the hole* San 9 *Kotori's door kicks are becoming more forceful!*
Well, that's an easy fix... Please be conveniently nearby... *She fumbles around in the darkness for any fuses* SAN 7
The spirit puts her hand on Stars. an intense chill runs up your spine. she faces you. Well it's ironic, because there's not much left of her beat-up, cut down, punched-up, bloodied face. Her eyes are insect nests, her nose might as well two holes and half her forehead is missing. She grips your hand and eats away at your sanity, making you loose two sanity points. She screams at you: "LEAVE!!!!! OR I'LL TELL MY DADDY!!!! HE'LL MAKE YOU JUST LIKE ME!!!!" Meanwhile, Kotori kicks down the west most room of the second floor, cursing convenient ~~plot~~ holes. But as soon as she enters the father's workroom, a freezing chill paralyzes her body. At the first glance, it would look like no one's here. And yet... behind her, around her, above her, underneath her, from everywhere, a raspy whisper can be felt. not just heard. felt. from within the core of her soul, she feels the words of the damned. " I W I L L S A V E Y O U T O O " Losing one point of sanity from the malevolent presence, she loses another one when she sees the impossible: the tools used for wood-working begin moving on their own. ropes drag her on the tables, as saws float dully toward her arms. Planes, the tools used to make uneven wood plane by use of a absurdly sharp metal plate, places itself on Himeno's feet. " F R E E D O M A W A I T S" The pain begins. She looses another sanity point. Meanwhile, Himeno is having a grand old time searching for fuses that aren't there. Sorry Mario, but your fuses are in another castle.
...K. *runs out the room towards the entrance, making sure to close the doors she opens.* (Sanity: 4. Might have to jump out a window to get out in time.)
*Himeno, finally giving up on the stupid fuses, climbs back up the hatch. Her time's wearing down, so backtracking would be best. Maybe check that other door she could have chosen. (Aka that ever so nice door that Star just ran out of)* SAN: 6
Fuck! *Kotori, reacting to the pain, flies into a panic and tries to force herself off the table, if she succeeds, she books it to the ladder, if she fails... well.... that's pretty obvious* Sen 5
Star runs the fuck away to the entrance hall. the ladder is now gone for some reason, until....... Meanwhile, Himeno gets out of the basement, and heads out in the hallway. There, she barely spots Star running away like a madman, as though the devil himself were pursuing her. But to her surprise, nothing came. Nothing but a sweet slow melody. Kotori, tearing the ropes runs away although not without feeling the distorted feelings inside her whisper once more " Y O U R F R E E D O M W I L L C O M E " She grips the ladder and rushes down, coming face to face with a freaked out Star.
...fuck this shit I'm out. *Jumps out a window and uses her Segway to cushion her fall... though it probably won't work that well cause it's a Segway, not a pillow.*
Wait, was that... Ngh, my head hurts... If I don't get out soon, then... *Himeno knows exactly what this migraine means. Having such an offensive Gift brought her to this point multiple times before. She manages to steady her breathing and runs after Star* SAN: 5
Sanity: 3. Jumping out because I'm not dealing with dieing to ghosts. I'm dieing on my own terms, yo!
Nope! NopeNopeNopeNopeNopeNope! *Kotori continues to run, turning west and rushing through the doors, she's suddenly thankful that she destroyed them, and leaps out the window she came in* San 3
*Himeno ain't jumping. Just because she's a psychic doesn't mean she's immune to fall damage. Time to try taking the hatch she came to this mansion with in the first place*
The segway breaks upon impact, and so does your brain when it falls from such a high tree. Same for kotori. your minds are taken to a dark place. The ether is thick and nothing seems to worry you anymore. You cannot move, nor do you need to. you cannot think, and there is no reason to. You simply wait and bide your time. Himeno spots kotori and Star jumping out the window in the living room. Seeing your two companions rush to their sudden demise is a severe blow to your morale and sanity, taking one point away. What will you do ?
I... I can't... *Himeno's breathing becomes erratic again, and she opens the hatch to the "tree area". She's going down that thing ASAP, and running down that absurdly long flight of stairs* SAN: 3
alright, we're retconning starting from kotori's segment sorry folks. I missunderstood.
Only Star's mind is in the ether, waiting for her respawn. Kotori meanwhile jumps out the window, but doesn't jump off the balcony. she lands rolling on the floor of the balcony, panting and trembling. Himeno sees Star jumping to her demise and spots Kotori jumping out a window, so she still loses that point.
*Welp, Himeno's reaction is the same despite retcon. She's going down and outta this place, hopefully.*
*waits to respawn. Welp, at least she won't die for good. Perks of being an immortal. Wouldn't be the first time she fell to her death too, so she'll be fine... probably.*
*Kotori clutches the balcony fence after landing her barrel roll, shaking in fear* D-daddy! Daddy! Where are you daddy!
Himeno runs to the great hatch leading to the entrance, but try as you might, it just won't budge. it's locked. closed up, sealed. As though the hatch were simply painted on the ground. Kotori cries out to her father, but no one was there to respond. There is naught but silence around her.
*Himeno lets go of the hatch, stumbling into a wall. She presses herself against it as if leaving it would be certain death.* I just... need to... *She closes her eyes as the pounding in her head becomes unbearable* If I let myself go... I'll be fine after a while... I'll... turn those ghosts to ash... SAN: 2
*Kotori, doing her best to stay alive and sane, attempts to climb back down the tree, the chances of this succeeding are slim with her terrified mind* Sen 1
ooc: San is 1. My mistake.
Kotori meanwhile, climbs down. For someone as mindbroken, she's doing excellently. But excellent just isn't enough when climbing a six story tree. She ends up slipping, she tries to grab back on to the tree, but it only results in her fingers grating on the tree, burning her palms and leaving large bloody traces on the bark. Her descent comes to an abrupt end when a pointy branch impales her through her stomach, releasing gastric juices through her body. There's only a tiny bit of life still left in her.
Himeno, feeling the last pangs of sanity getting devoured by the mist falls on her knees. She's now but an empty vessel for the malevolent intent that spreads throughout the house. However, there is no one left to deliver from their bodily shockles. Thus, she will find a way to end herself.
*With her last breath, she speaks* I passed...... that check..... Dammit...... *blehgh* Ded
I... I... *She stares blankly at the dark room around her. The familiar burst of primal fury never comes. Just... emptiness. She can't feel anything.* *No fire comes from her mind. It's all burnt out. It needs to come back. She's helpless without it.* *She pulls out a knife. Pain always brings her anger back* *However, a deeper nothingness comes afterwards.*
and thus, all three spirits enter the void of their mind. As they come to however, they find themselves facing the large tree again. the bodies of past adventurers strewn about. The tree looks as imposing as in your dreams. You feel like countless horrors await you inside. But you can't back down. you promised. Star still has her bolts, nuts and screw drivers. Kotori still has the map in her pocket. Himeno knows about the fuse. You don't know where this comes from. It's there. it was in the dream. now it's here. How ? Why? What is this? TUNE IN NEXT TIME ON CORPSE PARTY HOUSE DRIVE!!!!
*suddenly snaps out of it*...ow, my leg. *Shoots herself in the head because she wants to go back to sleep*
What kind of dream was that...? I need to look for something... *She sits down against a tree. She's gonna need a while to pull her thoughts together*
*revives and looks at the sky* don't forget my hammer and wrench, narrator! I still have those! Didn't really use them, but I have them! *Summons a bed and sleeps.*
