P3? It's pretty fun, and has a good narrative. Plus with the choice of portable or FES, there is a lot to do to have fun.

I think so, but then, I've only really watched P3 fully, and then watched parts of the others, so I'm not the best to ask, though P3 is referenced A LOT in P4 from what I've seen, and P4 gets referenced in P5, so that's probably the best order to play, P3, P4, P5.

Either portable or FES. Depends whether you want to try the extra bit of story after the game from FES called the Answer, or you want to play as a female. Note playing the main game as a female is a bit harder than as a male.

Hhm i've only played p3 on ps2 and p3p (only male protag route tho) and they're both good games also jumped p4 (played after p5) and if you want p4 go for golden on psvita since it has more content.

No, it's not. It's just the romances are much harder to get, because you technically have a choice for them, but the choices are hard to spot. Therefore social links are a bit harder, especially since two have severe time limits for story reasons. Moon has a few months, Fortune only has November. Note a full week of November gets skipped due to Work Experience week. So really, harder on the social links.

It's also not really true. Though Portable in general is piss easy compared to the PS2 versions due to balance changes and being able to control your party. I would recommend FES over the Portable game. FES is harder to play given the artificial difficulty of not being able to control the entire party, and the epilogue is not worth actually playing, but the Portable version removes basically all cutscenes and turns the non-dungeon crawling into a visual novel, severely hampering your first time experience.

Play them in order. See how the series changed and evolved as time went on. P1 in particular is very underrated. If you can get past it's age (time hasn't been all that harsh on it, but it's still a more classic SMT styled game) then you should have fun with it.

The Female route also isn't that great of a selling point, she's cute and some of the music for the female route is better, but she also has a few different Social Links, and with the exception of like one, they don't really measure up to the original S.Links. Hilariously the Female route adding more Social Links for your party members is what kills the experience the most, because it just makes things feel messy and redundant.

You can only control your main character directly in FES, the others are AI controlled, but you can change their tactics. This is, in my opinion, annoying but less of an issue than most make it out to be. While I would have preferred to take control of everything, the AI did not make an ass of itself very often when I played.

You can control the entire party in P1, 2, 3 Portable, 4 and 5.
