The Scientist
*As you walk along the street, you spot a strange man wearing a lab coat in an empty lot. He seems to be holding a suitcase.*
*Upon catching sight of the figure, Gamma decides to follow him for some time. So Gamma hides behind the nearest building, and watches the figure from a distance*
Hmm...
This seems like a good spot.
*After watching the figure for a few moments, and seeing them go nowhere, Gamma steps out from his hiding spot and waves at the figure* Greetings, what brings you out this far? This lot's usually empty for a reason, you know?
Hmm? Ah, hello. I could ask you the same question, you know.
*Gamma shrugs, both arms out to his sides* I was simply passing through, then I saw you and figured I'd say hello. Your turn to share now.
Well... I'm here for a special reason. I just bought this lot, and I'm planning to set up. *The figure bends down and flips a switch on the case, starting a number of the buttons on it to flash in a sequence.*
*Gamma eyes the case curiously, bending over to see the buttons* And what is it you're setting up here? For curiosity's sake. Never hurts to know, you know?
*It played like a memory game, except it seemed to have extra rules.*
I'm setting up my lab, of course.
Mhmmm.. And what is it you research, exactly? Sorry if I'm being pushy, there's simply so much going on here, and I've been interested in a few things myself.
*The figure finishes with the buttons, and the suitcase opens to reveal a single block of hard metal, which took up the entire suitcase.* I research all kinds of things. But mostly chemicals and the such.
I've also taken an interest in robotics lately, specifically neural interfacing.
Hmmm... So you mostly work with more, ordinary technology. A lot of the people around here work with, quite frankly, more mystical subjects. *shrug Something about it just attracts the weirdos I guess
I've noticed that. *The figure pushes a button on his iron wristband, and snaps his fingers. Suddenly, the huge block of metal rises from his suitcase and splits into what is possibly a million, very tiny, round pieces.*
*You wouldn't be able to notice them if they weren't all clumped up together, as they were the size of specks of dirt.*
..... Alright.... So.... I'm going to go ahead and assume those tiny.... Things are part of your research? They just went everywhere, so I assume there's more to it
Well, sort of. They're nanobots. Cost me a fortune, but the money that they've made me has covered that and more. *The scientist raises up his hands, and the nanobots start forming into a gigantic building.*
*The nanobots finally stop, revealing a massive lab with a skylight in the middle.*
*Gamma looks at the lab and sighs* Well, I will say that's quite impressive. Never been a fan of robots myself, but those little buggers are useful enough.
I'll have to go to sleep now... it was a long trip from America. Stop by my lab anytime if you have an electrical problem, and it's free as long as I can tell you one of my stories. *The scientist turns off his wristband and enters the lab with a sleeping bag, hunched over.*
*Gamma waves at the scientist and walks away* Unfortunately I don't think any of my problems can be solved the normal way. Oh well, nice to see someone fairly normal around at least.
