Most disappointing game for you?
Not BAD game, but disappointing. What are they and why? Assassin's Creed Revelations for me. When I bought a PS3, I gave these games a go and played in order. 1 is archaic, but still worth playing, 2 was a huge step up and just a great game (they perfected the formula), Brotherhood (ie the canonical 3) was a bit too much like 2 but still quite enjoyable in its own right. Different enough. Then came Revelation, ie, 4. Not only was this the most interesting at first sight and the one I was most looking forward to upon reading about them, but then it turns out to be a virtual copy of Brotherhood, barring tiny additions. Most of which aren't even good additions. The exact opposite of what 3 did with 2. Even my first time, I can't get through it, which is to say nothing about subsequent plays. I might sell it because I can't imagine ever finishing it once, let alone again. It was disappointing because of my expectations, but also because the first five or so progressing stages at the start are actually really good, and the weapon control system is perfect too... But the rest? Done better before and just a total rehash with most new things (they over emphasize bombs like crazy) just aren't good. Easily the most disappointing game I can think of. I also rushed out to buy FE Shadows of Valentia because I loved FE, and was not impressed to learn it was a remake of an older game. I tried so hard to get into it but hated the combat and especially town navigation that I sold it. Very hard for someone who started FE on the 3DS to get into it, I think.
Final Fantasy VII. You hear it hyped beyond belief but playing it myself was kinda, underwhelming.
At least too because of Revelations, I got to play P5 sooner than I expected. I couldn't take playing it anymore and just needed something else, something completely different. And ironically enough, I end up playing P5 twice in a row, yet still can't finish AC Revelations one time.
Is it OK if the game in question is not one I have played myself because FE Warriors comes to mind. No Hector? Get that outta here.

Currently. I love the story I just feel underwhelmed because of the hype. The same thing happens to me with newer games as well.
Add FE Shadow Dragon to that actually. I mean, it's not a bad game and maybe I'm not giving it much of a chance, but I dunno. I played Blazing Blade beforehand and SD feels like a downgrade for some reason. At least it has Jeorge.

Hype these days for everything is pure insanity, so almost none of it, I feel, lives up to it at all. P5 is one of the few I think did.

Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel I loved the shit out of The 40th day when I was younger, but TDC was sooooo bad. Leave it to EA to ruin everything
I purposefully kept myself in the dark about the development of P5, I didn’t watch any Japanese footage or anything. I did my best to avoid the hype, and it worked.
So you mean that kind of hype? I didn't know a thing about P5 or Persona at all, yet I still heard over and over, "This game is amazing. Gotta play it." To which I almost always am skeptical. Even watching it initially, I wasn't that impressed until I began seeing things like recruiting enemies and said, "Eh, I'll try it" only to find out the general consensus was pretty right on. That's the hype I usually mean. And I usually go in completely neutral to let the game either wow me itself or disappoint me itself. It elevates or descendes on its own from dead center. It's how I try to approach everything. But it's always great when something really ends up blowing me away. High expectations end in disappointment more so than anything, if my two games aren't proof of that.

Is it OK if the game in question is not one I have played myself because FE Warriors comes to mind. No Hector? Get that outta here. I see you too are a man of good taste. But enough about you, let’s get my rant out of the way. For me, a Fire Emblem oldfag who has played every game released in NA, I was heavily disappointed in Fates. For two primary reasons. 1. The lack of choice. When I heard Fates was announced, I was interested in seeing what would happen, especially since they decided to focus the game on the player’s avatar. They stressed that, as the MC you would have to make decisions that could alter the course of the game. In truth, you got two choices, which game you played, and whether or not to kill one guy in Conquest. Get railroaded and watch your little Anti-Sue get showered with affection for the rest of the time. 2. Speaking of Anti-Sue, the avatar themselves. Throughout the game, a game which is supposed to be focused on your self-made character, you get to play the role of Corrin/Kamui. Friend to absolutely everything and completely useless in cutscenes. It’s supposed to be your avatar, but since they do, or rather fail to do, so much without any input, there is little you can do to input your own thoughts in the game. Of course, it’s truly rare for those options to exist, but at least when your player character, such as the tactician in FE7, has almost no lines you can actually think of them as yourself. Something they seem to have pushed aside when moving to the avatar system.
The game that's most disappointing to me isn't a bad one. Heck, I loved it! Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter was the only game in its series younger me could actually beat. But the thing is... the ending is complete disappointment. As in, "why would you do this" disappointment. Basically, it turns out the events of the two games were all a dream. Nice in concept and all, but to learn that the lovely world and all its adventures and lovable characters didn't even exist... yeah, I was peeved. Especially since this was out of the blue in the SECOND. GAME.

Not much there, I'll agree.
It just feels like I was blatantly lied to in the advertisements, sorry if I seem a little bitter, it’s because I am.
There are few games where choices actually matter. Even in P5, apart from midgame, most answers you choose are purely superficial. The choices in Fates weren't that huge to me. The biggest choice is fully explored 3 times, to drastically different outcomes, and that's fine for me. A chance to get to know the huge cast and as much game play as possible.

Halo 5: Guardians. Between the misleading ad's and multiplayer that isn't halo. The story was lack luster and it's cliff hanger sucked more than halo 2. As a long time fan of halo and halo being one of the games to make me want to play more video games. Halo 5 as a whole was a let down for me and it seems for many other in the fandom as well. I still like its multiplayer, its fun. Just not halo, some can argue if that's a disappointment or not but I'd rather not. The gameplay it self even for a fps game was very repetitive and a lot of the special ability's didn't really work in the campaign since they were design for multiplayer in mind. The campaign itself is where I was let down the most at. I only really play halo for it's story. The characters were lack luster, you didn't even know who half of them were unless you read the book (which I didn't because I hate reading) the motivations of all the characters were terrible and confusing especially when put up against the marketing campaign and Cortana being alive after she was killed off in halo 4 is bullshit. Not to mention there was a continuity error A REALLY big one with a "holy" place of sorts called the mantle. Also fighting the same boss OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN isn't fun at all. Even when there's more than one. Especially when the boss fight wasn't run the first time. Im just glad I didn't waste the money on it. I gameshare with a friend so I got it off of him
