Day of the Dead
[A few days ago, a group of brave adventures had wiped out the abominations that plagued the first floor of long-forgotten ruins. Yet it seems the hostile presence has not faded... There's been talk of strange noises, almost like a chanting, from within the stone walls. Perhaps whatever was in there has awakened... which is why the Heir, a resident of the nearby village, has directed our heroes there yet again.]
Kotori exits the Inn Here's hoping this goes as well as the last raid.
THe brave heroes had successfully managed to defeat many of the horrors hidden in the nearby ruins. The person stumbling out of the inn, in full armor, was not one of them. This is the idiot who nearly got themselves killed walking in the woods. They stretch their arms out wide to greet the new day. Alright, I can't wait to get this next quest over with. Now, where are we going this time?
Alright Leeroy Jenkins. Let's get some things clarified, First, This is open world. So don't wander into High Level area's like a moron. Two, You're a noob compared to us. Three, The loot belongs to EVERYONE. Four, You rush ahead into danger, and I'm not gonna follow you like a mindless NPC. Five, you can NOT survive on your own Six, you will NOT respawn. Seven, you are NOT the main character. Eight, this game will NOT pander to you and your suicidal tendancies. Nine, You cause trouble, You deal with it on your own. Ten. Have some common sense regarding these rules and I MAY end up not using you as a meat shield. You got all that? Or are you too dumb to understand?
(edited by Kotori_K)
The Rider just stares at Kotori for a moment, before they burst out laughing Please, if you weren't an NPC then why aren't you wearing armor like me? Clearly the full-body suits were intentional. Anyone else can't be a player. The rider puts one hand on their chin for a moment, as though thinking deeply Though, if it is online, then there isn't an MC..... Regardless, I'm sure everything will work out fine.
[The Heir, still wearing their hooded cloak, decides to not comment on the strange conversation as they approach the two. In their hand, they hold the bag from last time: with the same contents as before, replenished using a little bit of the gold collected last time.] "Ah, there you two are..."
Glares at Rider ..................... I can't tell if you're egotistical, or just an idiot. This isn't the Game you were playing before. You're items and armor were transferred to this game when you were, that's why you're the only one wearing it you dumbass.
Grabs the bag Though if it's just the two of us, we're both probably gonna die.
[The Heir's expression doesn't change much at Kotori's words, but there's a flicker of... guilt? It's soon replaced by his normal calm expression.] "I'm confident you can handle it. You may even find help on the way, and you can certainly retreat if needed."
Rider laughs aloud and looks for a map in the bag Silly whatever your name is, everyone knows armor and stuff doesn't transfer between games. Like, imagine if you could use one game to fight inside an entirely different one? That would be ridiculous
"Hey, wait up!" *Diego on Silver Bullet approaches the two*
[Rider finds a map, showing routes to four different places: the Cove, the Weald, the Warrens, and the Ruins- their destination.]
............................. Your idiocy astounds me..... Ah. Blondie. Good, maybe we'll survive this after all. Heads towards the Ruins, using the map from the last trip
Alright, we're going to the ruins, soooo..... Rider holds the map upside down while attempting to find their way to the ruins..... It might take a while.
*Diego jumps off of Silver Bullet as the horse runs back to the inn* "Well, we didn't die the last time, so we may be fine."
[After a bit of a... delay because of someone's inability to read a map correctly and the constant banter, the group ends up at the Ruins enterance a bit later than they should have. Kind of a draining trip.]
Kotori has been sitting at the entrance of the ruins for the others for a while, her flaming sword stuck into the ground as a sort of makeshift campfire I told you I wasn't going to follow you.
HAhaha, I told you this wa- Rider seems to suffer from a sudden coughing fit. They seem a bit less energetic than usual, but continue speaking -s the correct way. Never should have doubted me. Now come on, lets get this quest started!!
(edited by UnnamedRidePlayer3)
"If you're not going to follow him, then let me lead the way."
The Rider shrugs and begins following Diego Alright, that'll work for me. Lead the way quest guide.
Pulls sword out of the ground and follows At least you have a brain. Flame Charges: 4
[Now that everyone's moving...] [The inside is dark. Very dark. Diego lights a torch, revealing an empty room and empty hall ahead. The residents of this area have left...(?)]
Kotori readies her weapon This isn't ominous in the slightest. Not at all.
*Diego looks around* "I'm getting a bad feeling from this room."
[Nothing answers their chatter.]
Well, come on, you're leading blonde guy, lets get this quest going. Rider laughs brightly, apparently unaware of the clear danger in the area
*Diego begins walking ahead again*
Looks like a strait line to me. Meat Shield, Take point and do something useful for once.
Follows Or Buff could do it. Though he's a bit more important in this party.
[As the group presses onwards, they have no interruptions, strangely enough. As they get to the now-useless trap they encountered next time, they notice a small stack of books piled by the door.]
Ok, Meat Shield, Search. It could be trapped.
Oh, I can search it, don't you worry. Loot's my specialty The Rider immediately runs over to the pile of books and begins ste-... I mean borrowing them.
[Rider now has a bunch of dusty old books. Fun.]
Walks into the Next room as he does that
Alright alright, now I ca- Rider sees Kotori walk on without him and begins speaking under their breath, while doing their best to hide the books I can take these back to the Hamlet and sell them. Lucky me.
*Diego enters the next room as well*
[The next room is, as usual, a branching path. Ahead is some rubble. A hole in the rubble reveals part of a stone object on the other side. To the left is a hall with a confessional booth.]
Stands in front of the rubble, looking at the others expectantly
Rider follows into the room. He catches sight of the rubble, and immediately starts digging through with his hands Come on dudes, there's loot on the other side. We've got to keep the quest going, right?
"Hmm." *Diego looks at the two paths while THE WORLD helps the rider dig through the rubble*
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
[After a few minutes, the rubble is moved out of the way, revealing a stone urn as well as the next room farther down. Ashes sit in the stone container, thick enough to cover something small.]
We went the other way last time Buff. Turns to Rider You don't honestly expect a small girl like me to dig out a mountain of rubble do you? Especially when there are two men who obviously have more physical strength than me?
Dang it, slow
The kleptomaniac they are, Rider immediately runs over to the urn and opens it up, disrespectfully searching the ashes for anything shiny Bet there are coins in there. My coins more specifically
.............. Turns to Dio as she walks down the hall Can I stab him now?
[Rider's hand snatches up a black stone and two green stones. They look very valuable.]
Rider pockets the stones as well, looking around to make sure no one was watching. They then run over to catch up to the group There wasn't anything of interest in there. How's the quest going?
Same as ten seconds ago, only difference is that now I'm resisting the urge to stab you.
(edited by Kotori_K)
(I was doing something) "Stab him if you want, I guess."
As tempted as I am..... He's still useful as a Meat Shield. I'll kill him and take his stuff after the mission.
[Might as well up the date.] [Now half-in, half-out of the room, they notice a wooden door on the other side of the room. An open, rusted lock has fallen by the foot of the door.]
Kotori stands, waitingfor someone else to do something
*Diego suddenly appears near the door and enters the next room*
[As the door opens, the group can hear a soft chant and the rattle of bones downstairs. A sinister aura can be felt...]
Did someone hear bossfight? Because I hear boss fight. Come on gang, lets go kill some crabs. The Rider runs through the doorway, headfirst into... Whatever is on the other side
Quintus stands outside the inn in town and looks around where everyone else has gone. He rubs his eyes as he begins walking around to a nearby tree before placing his hand on it. He closes his eyes for a moment as he recalls the past events that have taken place. This is a dream...It has to be, right...None of these kinds of things are possible. There's no other explanation.
A small, fluffy moth flutters down from the tree, landing on Quintus's head. A dream? It's a nightmare if anything! This place is pretty scary, although most of the adventurers like you are too oblivious to notice.
*THE WORLD appears next to Diego as he continues walking* "Be ready for anything guys."
Quintus stares up at the moth with a surprised look as he starts laughing a little to himself. A talking moth... If this wasn't a dream or nightmare then I'd think I'd be going crazy. Though, this definitely seems like more of a nightmare than a dream.
(edited by Quintus_Geminus)
[As they descend the stairs, the chanting becomes louder, until they spot a red-cloaked figure. Its actual body is fully covered except for a claw-like hand. It mutters to itself as it stares at a shaking pile of bones.]
The moth seems to laugh as it flies into the air, circling the human. Speaking of nightmares, those three people went out to the Ruins again! There shouldn't be a lot of creepy things, since they were pretty much beaten up last time. Wanna explore there? It's really cool!
(I'll be back soon) "You guys can go on ahead, I just want to check out something near that rubble." *Diego walks back up the stairs*
Quintus looks up as the moth flies around him. Something in the back of his head tells him not to but he decides that the moth's idea sounds more interesting than just sitting around. Nightmare or dream this isn't real so what's the harm I guess. Besides, I feel like those three are some of the more interesting parts to this. Which way is it, exactly?
Obvious Necromancer is obvious. Kotori infuses lightning into her blade Flame charges: 4 Lightning Charges: 4
It's this way! Don't worry, I know this place very well! The moth flies off into the forest. Even in the shadows, its white body seems to glow. After a few minutes, the moth lands on a piece of rubble in front of the massive stone structure. Welcome to the ruins! This used to be a holy place, at least until it got overrun by monsters. But it should be cleared out soon! And don't worry about a light! I got that covered!
Rider poses excitedly, pointing their weapon at the robed figure Alright, I'll clear this quest and continue on
Quintus follows the moth to the ruins looking somewhat nervous. He's unsure of the reason for his panicked feelings as this is nothing more than a dream to him. He looks towards the stone structure with a slight hesitation. Alright... I-I'm fine with t-this. Quintus takes a moment to calm himself before beginning to walk to the structure. Whenever you're ready then...uh...not to be rude but do moths have names or should I maybe just call you moth?
[The Necromancer whirls around, pointing at the duo. It shouts something at them. The words are nonsense to them, yet they press deep into the group's mind...] [A single skeleton forms out of the pile of bones. It picks up a sword and stands in front of its master.]
My name isn't important. You can call me whatever! With that, the moth flies in, illuminating the darkness. The two will eventually reach the depths, and hear the battle starting within...
Al... *cough cough cough* Alright. Lets get this quest underway. The Rider covers their helmet, about where the mouth part would be and shifts their weapon into pistol form. Once it has been altered, the Rider fires a single shot at the skeleton rather than the necromancer
Kotori infuses herself with wind Focus on the skeleton, I'll DPS the boss. Flame charges:4 Wind charges: 4 Lightning charges: 4
Upon hearing the noise Quintus begins walking faster. Leaving the moth behind he shuffles through the darkness to try and reach the others. Fighting already... I knew no creepy things was too good to be true!
Ride Player fires a shot directly into the skeletons cranial cavity and leaves a hole in its head! It staggers back a bit but stands still Kotori infuses her blade with wind! Careful with that thing! You could "accidentally" hurt someone! Quintus is soon met by the robed man and a living set of bones! The Moth satisfied with its work begins to drift away, disappearing The skeleton angry at the ride player decides to strike back ferociously as it whaps him on the side of the head with a random femur from the floor, break a leg! The Necromance seeing his friend is about to fall down, rushes in with inhuman speed, slashing at Kotori with a claw, stealing away a wisp of her life before dashing back and inserting it into another pile of bones, as it picks up another sword it joins the fray
Quintus panics as he sees the skeletons and the strange robed figure. Trying to remain calm in this strange situation he remains quiet as he stays in the dark to try and observe the situation more without alerting the necromancer or his "friends".
To clarify, the wind is a self buff, not a weapon buff. It increases evasion and accuracy by however much the GM thinks is balanced. Gh.... stupid thing. Kotori rushes the Necromancer, slashing at its back Charges Flame: 3 Lightning: 3 Wind: 4
The Rider is smacked upside the head. Ow, that hurts. They are knocked to the ground by the blow, but manage to keep their senses. Alright, I'll take you *cough cough* on then..... As their weapon is still in pistol form, all Rider has to do is point it at the skeleton's chest and fire a few shots into it. They seem to be fine for the most part.
Quintus observes! This is no play! Get in there mang! Kotori moves with speed rivalling the Necromancer as she stabs him in the back, it screams in pain as it grapples onto her, throwing her to the ground where the bones around the floor cluster around her, eventually forming hands and clawing at her, whether or not she gets out they form another skeleton, better watch out! The Ride Player finishes off the skeleton with a hole in its head, however the other one quickly takes its place, slashing at his legs with its sword, trying to cripple him
No way! Kotori unleashes a burst of wind to force herself back to the Necromancer, taking a swipe at him Flame: 2 Lightning: 2 Wind: 3
Quintus holds his pocket knife in his hands as he stares down a nearby skeleton. After a moment of consideration, he rushes towards the skeleton, knife in hand, as he tries to stab through its skull.
As RidePlayer is already on their back, its easy for them to push off and kick the skeleton in the chest as it moves to slash at their legs Here we go, now this is a boss fight. Rider looks over to Quintus as they run in to help and gives him a thumbs up Nice to see you've decided to join us, eh?
Kotori blasts back into the Necromancer as she leaves a skeleton in the dust, it shambles behind and tries to slash at her back while she's distracted, back to Kotori however she manages a strike at the Necromancer, it backs up even more as it prepares a scroll from its cloak Ride Player kicks a skeleton back towards Quintus as they strike down a skeleton with ease, now all that remains is the Necromancer, but for how long? The Necromancer reads from the scroll as arms reach out from the abyss of darkness, rending your flesh over and over as you close your eyes as you await death, however when you open them nothing has happened, a vision of the future? Well no time to dwell it on now, another skeleton has been spawned, this time wearing heavy armour with an axe and shield
Sweating, Kotori is stunned for a moment, before shaking her head and rushing the Necromancer again I've died by scratching my own throat out! You're gonna have to do better than that to shake me up! F:1 L:1 W:3
Quintus stumbles back for a moment at the site of the skeleton's axe. Suddenly, he decided it was time to test something. If this was a dream then surely there was nothing he couldn't do. Even a weapon like an axe shouldn't intimidate him. It was time to see just how real this dream was. With no regards for his own well being Quintus charges the skeleton with his knife trying to crack open its skull as he charges it. Go back to the grave where you belong!
Rideplayer covers their head with their arms in an attempt to protect themselves and begins shouting OH, OH NO, WHAt The, WHAT IS THAT... Oh DEAR IT HURTS... MY SPLEEN. WHy DOES IT. RidePlayer continues rambling like this for almost a minute before they realize nothing is actually happening Oh.... Oh right, this is just a *cough cough* just a game.... Right. Yeah. Forgot that.
Kotori strikes the Necromancer and it falls down onto one knee, perhaps its starting to falter, keep it up! Quintus aims at the Skull Tan and his strikes hits, it seems unphased by the attack however and pushes Quintus back with his shield Meanwhile, the Ride Player ain't doing so good, you okay there buddy? As the Skull Tan is given some time he rushes back to the Necromancer and holds his shield at the ready, he stares down everyone with those empty eyes and simply waits, However the Necromancer does not sit idly by, he reads from the scroll again and the roof seems to tumble, shadows seem to flicker and move on the wall, encroaching closer, and closer, however when you look away they are gone, replaced by a skeleton in a fancy suit and golden cup
(edited by The_Curator)
Quintus falls to the ground as the shield hits him. He steadies back to his feet realizing his lack of any real injury. He stares back up towards the new skeleton with a newfound daring in his eyes. He's still shaking but he rushes towards the new skeleton directly with his knife. He goes for the skeletons torso this time hoping to crack its ribcage.
Slightly disoriented by the sudden vision, Kotori aims for the Fancy skeleton and uncharges her flames, sending a wave of fire towards it Get out of the way! F: uncharged L:1 W:3
Rider handles this vision a little better, though their heart is beginning to race... Won't be long.... A... Alright. L... Lets clear this quest with....... O.... NEver Mind COME ON. Rider recklessly rushes the skeleton guarding the necromancer and attempts to tackle him back into his master, hopefully knocking all three over in the process.
Quintus strikes with a singular blow! A loud cracking can be heard as the Skull Tan reals from the strike, striking back with the axe, however it seems weaker than usual, perhaps you hit a vital? Kotori sends a wave of fire towards the fancy one and it catches ablaze, it screams and runs around in panic, looks like its pretty much done for if not now soon Ride Player then does a reckless move and it works out perfectly! Knocking all of them over! Good job! It instantly knocks the skull off the Skull Tan, wiping it out, leaving only a Necromancer stuck on top of a flaming coat
Rider switches their weapon to knife form and raises it, both hands, plunging it into where the Necromancer's head should be AHA, I'm getting the experience for this one. Oh, and the kill. Definitely the kill. First boss down everyone.
Quintus reels back as the weaker axe strike hits them. Though not a massive blow or anything on that level the strike still left a mark. They grab at the wound before staring forth at the necromancer. Quintus holds the knife tightly before rushing towards the necromancer and trying to grab onto their robe to stab directly at the claw-like hand.
Kotori unleashesthe lightning in a similar fashion Die! Charges Wind: 3
As the team wails on the bloody flaming cloak it screams and withers away, leaving only a red cloack and what seems to be a shiny piece of something? its hard to tell from this angle but you should take it back with you, perhaps the Heir could identify it? At any rate...
QUEST COMPLETE
ooooh... Pretty. I call the robe. From their position on top of the creature, Rider attempts to rapidly bundle up the cloak to carry back to the Hamlet I wonder how much experience that loser's worth
Quintus picks up the shiny object unsure of what it is. He gets up and begins walking back to the hamlet without saying a word. It seems they're worn out.
............. Kotori stays silent as the others take their loot, then opens the map and Gestures to the door Alright. Let's go ho-... Let's get back to the Hamlet.
