Second to Last[?]
[Two out of the four statue parts have been found.] [A white moth sits on a bag in front of an old inn.] [Something in the air is tense...] [You should hurry up and finish this ]
Enters the Hamlet ....................?
OOC: Can I join?
ooc: Go right ahead [The moth flies away at the stranger's approach, taking shelter on the roof. But the bag seems important.]
*Dio exits the inn and feels the tense feeling in the air* "Shit... we have to hurry up."
falls from a portal Hmmm, what is this place?
[Addalme is greeted with the sight of a run-down old town. A duo is gathered near the inn.]
Late as usual, Rider wakes up and stretches before beginning their morning routine. When they are finished, they emerge from the run-down inn in a plain, brown, black, and grey suit of armor, accentuated with a tattered red cloth functioning as a cape Alright, let’s get this quest started. Where to next boss-man?
Goes to Stella and Dio Greetings.
[He isn't here. The bag is here, though, with a map of the Warrens. One of the rooms is circled.] [You know the way already.]
Nods at Addalme Nn....
*Dio turns to Addalme* "Hello. I don't have time to introduce myself right now." *He runs over to the Rider* "Hey wait up!"
Rider picks up the map and bag, heedless of the others around him Alright, guess they left it for me to find then. Weird system, but this game's done weirder. The individual shrugs and begins walking, actually using the map to find their way to the warrens Oh yeah, if any of you want to join me on my totally rad quest for loot, be my guest. You know what they say, the more the merrier Rider chuckles and looks over to Dio Of course, that includes you too blonde, lets get this party started.
turns to Stella Are you ok? Or you still don't talk? Well, I'm glad to see you again Stella, it's been a while. turns to Dio Well I'm... ok... nevermind...
Smiles and Nods Nn. Begins Following Rider
[As everyone moves out, the moth follows at a distance, occasionally vanishing.] [The trek up the stone steps is as uneventful as before. The opening in the hill is as dark as ever, but that's not going to stop you.] [With a torch from the bag or some simple magic, the group should be able to generate some light.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
"It's too dark in there." *Dio lights a few matches to light up the darkness* "This should do."
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
Rider looks into the bag, finding a torch among other supplies, then shrugs and walks on inside without it Alright, come on. The light might scare away goblins or something, and everyone knows goblins have loot. Now then, we're finally there, so lets get this quest going. Rider looks aside to Dio and shrugs as Rider moves inside If you want to use a little light that's fine, but I plan on getting the most from this
Thanks Dio and Rider, what do we do?
(edited by Addalme)
[The group enters, led by the light of Diego's matches. They pass through a doorway after traversing an empty hall. The remains of a stone structure's base sit in the center of the room, and there are doors to the north, east, and south.] [The destination is due north.]
"Rider, you tell him." *Dio looks at the doors*
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
Rider chuckles along to the voice in their head. They check the map, searching for the circled room, then run to the north We're adventuring, what else would you do in a game? Do quests, level up, get stronger, do quests, and REPEAT. Just the way I like it
Level up? Is this some kind of videogame? I mean... I don't have lvl.
[As Addalme speaks, he nearly trips over a stack of books scattered haphazardly on the floor of the north door's hallway. Some pages are torn out and lying on the floor.]
Rider doesn't see the books, as they are walking mostly in the dark, but they do hear Addalme speak Oh, great. Another NPC. Just my luck. Am I seriously the only one who bought this? Oh well, no problem. That just means I've got a head start. That's all.
Stops walking and looks to the books, interested on them he tooks one to read it
*Dio walks over to Addalme* "You almost tripped there." *He then notices the torn pages on the floor and picks one of them up* "What's this?"
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
Has been silently following the group, watching and listening in curiosity
[The book Addalme picks up has many strange symbols in it. Each one has a pronunciation written below it, but he's not sure of their purpose...] [Diego's page is faded, but he can make out the faint image of a moth. Some messy writing in another language accompanies it.]
hmmm, he begins to carefully read the books, making sure there isn't any trap. Interesting...
Rider sighs and moves on, heedless of their allies' actions. Seems like they're really focused on the adventure.
[Ru Agu. This combination can identify a creature. That's all Addalme can understand right now... the book tempts him to read more.] --- [Rider finds themselves in complete darkness. Footsteps can be heard, coming from either side of Rider. He can't see in the darkness, but they are used to it.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
"A moth?" *He picks up another torn page*
stops reading Maybe we can find more info about this, we should look around.
I knew you guys would follow me. NPCs are bound to anyways. Now that we're all on the same page, lets get this quest over with, shall we? Sooner we're done, the sooner we're home. Rider continues walking forward, laughing as though sharing some sort of joke
"You're right. We won't get that much information by not moving." *Dio picks up a few more torn pages then walks over to Rider*
[Unfortunately, Rider failed a Spot Check, so to speak.] [One of the unseen individuals strikes his side with something heavy, while the other begins taking quick, heavy steps towards him.] [Back in the hall, Diego finds more of the messily-drawn runes. It's as if someone was practicing these... It's disturbing.] [The arrival of the two provides a little light for Rider, revealing a short skeleton and... something else.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
The strike emits a brief shower of sparks when it hits Rider's armor, and knocks them over, to look around in the dark Ok, not cool bro. If that's how you want it, that's how it'll be. Rider takes out their knife-like weapon and shifts it into pistol form, firing a few shots in the direction of the heavy steps approaching them I knew I'd get more random encounters in the dark anyways
turns to Rider Are you ok? You should be more carefull.
Rider laughs loudly and looks at Addalme as the pair approach them Oh please, what's the worst that could happen? I have to continue from town? We're just now getting to the fun part
*To the others, a strong force can be felt coming from Dio*
Pulls out a Black Blade and silently rushes to the unseen figure and slashes at it
[The heavy footsteps' source easily leaps out of the way, and a gnarled, clawed hand thrusts into the light. It just barely hits Rider, leaving a long lash as red as the hand itself. Its hideous face can be seen for a moment as it jumps out of the blade's way.] [The skeleton clicks its teeth and charges at Addalme... but misses horribly and crashes into the wall.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
turns to skeleton Patetic...
Rider steps back with the force attacking them, though they manage to keep their balance this time. Rider keeps their weapon in pistol form and begins firing randomly into the dark, hoping to hit the unseen figure Alright, this looks like a boss fight if I've ever seen one. One of those...... Uh..... I actually don't have a frame of reference on this one. Just.... Just shoot it.
prepares to fight This will be easy.
"It's me time!" *A feint dubstep fart sound can be heard just as the skeleton flies back* "That taught him." *Also Dio is suddenly in another position*
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
[The skeleton shatters from the... whatever that was. Poor guy's been thrown into a wall twice today.] [The shot hits, earning a yelp from the creature that soon escalates into an ear-piercing screech. It echoes through the cavern and dims the matches.]
is killing the skeletons Don't let your guard down, there could be a dangerous enemy.
Rider bursts into laughter before clutching their head at the horrible shrieking HAHA.... Ow, mind dying a little bit more quietly? You're gonna give me a headache. I don't think games are supposed to do that.... Rider sighs and fires another shot, just like before. It hit the creature last time, so of course its likely to repeat the performance
Tch. Rushes the creature again, leaping behind and slashing it
*Dio throws a lot of knives at the creature* "Here, try to catch these without your hands!"
thinks Maybe... wait a moment guys.
[The creature clutches its chest, then whirls around, clutching a fallen skeleton's skull. As more skeletons land some blows on Addalme, the ghoul leaps back and throws the skull equivalent of a fastball at Stella's head, stunning her for a bit. The knives dig into the monster's skin, only fueling its anger.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
sigh I said nothing, lets kill them all. Prepares a spell
Rider shifts their weapon over into knife form, pointing it at the creature Haha!! Now that I can see you properly, this fight is just about done, are you ready? Rider boldly charges the creature, slicing along its side as they yell Chronicle, CRITICAL, STRIKE!!! Its no better than an ordinary slash, they just think it sounds cool.
casts morning star prepared to hurt the skeletons and ignore the structure and his teammates.
Ah. The skull break as it make contact ........................ Stares at the broken skull.... lost in memories
(I'll be back in a few.)
casts salvation on everyone and turns to Stella Better?
? ............ Shakes head
[The Morning Star... something's wrong with it.] [Perhaps it's the place's strange aura. Or perhaps the darkness made him misjudge something. Either way, the attack's much weaker than usual, and shakes the entire cave. The bright flash blinds all present, but once it fades, the skeletons are disoriented and the ghoul has Rider's blade stuck in its heart.] [Salvation doesn't fully heal everyone for some reason, but it at least helps a little.] [That's unimportant. Your bodies are still functional. Go north to the next piece.]
(edited by Hundred-S)
Rider struggles to pull their weapon out of the ghoul, but they seem to be having a great time. I knew yelling like that would work. Now, uhhhh... Can someone give me a hand so I can get mov.... OH WAIT While still trying to pull out their weapon, Rider searches the ghoul for the most important part of this whole mission. The loot to be gained. Come on, you've gotta have something on you
chuckle As I expected, there is something here, I still need more info, but looks like it is draining power... Well, this is just a hypothesis, we should continue.
Looks at the aftermath, then walks north
[There's an odd charm around the ghoul's neck, decorated with onyx.] [As they venture forward, the light is almost too faint to see by, but they still make their way through the northern passage. It's significantly warmer here, and hot breath comes from a pig head. A massive one, almost as big as a man. It's connected to three other segments of flesh, which pulse and warp constantly.]
Rider pulls their weapon out of the ghoul, taking its onyx charm and putting the charm around their own neck, before running to catch up with the rest of the group So, you guys find any...... Rider looks at the disgusting pig-beast, and makes a little gagging motion before pointing at it Ok, what on earth is that? Who would even design something so gross? What if I were eating before I booted this thing up?
looks at the gigant pig head This is starting to be creepy.
? Enemy? Pulls out a massive arm canon and aims at the head
[The charm feels off for some reason. It bothers Rider, but to be honest, the pig is more freaky.] [It grunts and slams a warped hoof down, ready to fight.]
energizes Stella's canon Kill it.
ALright then, lets get this quest over with. Rider shifts their weapon back to pistol form and fires a single shot at each of the pig-beast's body parts I'll clear this and continue to the next level
Aggressor Mode. Stella charges her atk and defense by 30%
[Powering up Stella!] [All four shots hit their mark, although they're fired in such rapid succession that they don't hit many vital parts.] [The head squeals and lunges forward, landing a lucky blow to Stella's stomach. Its portruding bones pierce her skin.] [The flesh mass's spine fires a rib at Rider, clonking him in the head to stun him.]
casts kougaon on the pig Be carefull.
Gh! Pushes herself away from the monster and aims her canon at the head Lock. The Canon charges and fires a shot of massive energy
Rider is struck directly by the spine, falling back on their rump as they slowly get to their feet T... Huh, this game really is realistic... Just give me a moment... I'll be fine guys. Lets clear this quest and continue
[The pig head takes the Kougaon well. The blast... not so much. It strikes the pig right in the face, and the entire mass convulses and desperately changes shape. Two spines, some hind legs, and a beating heart take shape.] [The heart beats strongly, rejuvenating the mass, while a tentacle-like tail pierces Rider.] ooc: food, brb
Hmmm... we should kill it. casts Riot gun
Regenerator. 5% HP Regen for 5 turns OVERHEAT: 12/20
The tail pierces Rider's arm, nowhere too important, but they'll definitely be feeling that later Agh... Alright you li.... Rider catches sight of the beating heart, now easily exposed Oh, one of those weak-spot things. Alright, I'll play this game. Rider spins around their weapon for show before firing a single, actually aimed shot at the creature's heart
*Dio, who's somehow still with the group, wakes up from randomly blacking out* "Huh? Damnit I blacked out again!"
[The Riot Gun is much weaker than usual, but does some decent damage.] [Stella takes this chance to gain some health in the long run.] [The heart nearly stops beating from the unexpected hit. The piggy flesh warps and twists, changing the composition to a head, two spines, and that same heart.] [The head roars and charges forward, slamming Diego into the wall.]
Defensive Mode... 40% defense increase for 3 turns OVERHEAT: 15.5
(edited by Stella_Grey)
*Before Dio could hit the wall, THE WORLD gets behind him so that he couldn't take that much damage* "W-Weak." *Dio gets off of the wall and sets up a barbed wire trap that the pig could barely see*
OOC: I GTG, bye.
Rider's breathing starts to slow, as they focus on the beast. Ok.... Its you and me, isn't it? I.... I'll take you down, and continue onwards. Rider takes a deep breath and shifts their weapon back to knife form, facing down the pig creature. I'll clear this, and continue onwards, are you ready fiend? Rider runs around the piggy flesh, before lunging in and aiming their blade at its still-beating heart All the real riders had a finishing phrase, and here's mine. Chronicle, Finishing STRIKE!!! As before, its no stronger than an ordinary attack, but something about Rider seems to have changed.... They're more on edge than before. Perhaps they're taking the game seriously now?
[As the other two prepare, Rider goes for a full-force attack to the heart for massive damage! A vein is sliced open, causing the whole mass to squirm. However, whatever the tail had did was taking its toll. Rider can barely keep upright with his head pounding. At least the head has lost interest in him, and charges at Diego again. The rest of the mass mutates into another head, a spine, and a pair of hind legs. The spine fires at Stella, but barely misses.]
Nn. Aggressor Mode. Stella charges her atk and defense by 30% for 3 turns Regen: 2 Defense: 2 Agg: 3 OVERHEAT: 18.5
(edited by Stella_Grey)
*Dio throws a fuel can into the air and shoots it with his revolver making a gasoline explosion* "There, I'm all set." *THE WORLD protects Dio from the gasoline and also guards in front of him*
A warning goes off inside of Rider's suit as they stand next to the creature's... Whatever the heart morphed into. A.... Alright... Lets... Finish thi..... Rider feebly slashes at whatever body part is right next to them, just before the explosion engulfs the creature.
[The explosion shakes the cavern, sending both Stella and Rider flying. The mass of pig flesh squeals, writhing around, before falling to the floor in a heap. It feebly picks itself up and tries to drag itself towards Diego, although it's too weak to do much of anything.] [As for Rider... Standing that close to the explosion could have, well...]
"Aw fuck it!" *THE WORLD charges at the pig and deals a devastating punch to it's head* "MUDA!!"
..............ah...........ah........ Simply stares off into the distance, wide eyed.. body shaking......
(edited by Stella_Grey)
Rider is blown backwards by the explosion, and as they fly, the armor and cape seem to disintegrate around them while a loud announcement can be heard GAME OVER!!! With the suit gone, the person that hits the floor is revealed to be an older man, likely in their 60s. They look around the cavern, confused. W... Why is the thing... These people, why are they still here? It... Its just a game, right? The person slowly begins glitching, yellow sparks going around their body as they look at the area around them
[An invisible force caves in the monstrosity's skull, and it finally falls to the floor. An odd orb rolls out of its mouth. The two disks from the Cove, still intact in the bag, float out and attach themselves to the orb.] [Battle won.]
N-no.... no.... no.... Gets up and rushes towards Rider, trying to pick him up
"The winner is m-" *He notices Rider on the ground and stops his victory sentence* "R-Rider?!" *Dio jumps over the traps that he made and runs over to him*
(edited by -Diego_Brando-)
Rider chuckles as the others get nearer, he looks at them, calmly, and smiles Sorry for how I've been treating you, especially blondie. I dunno what's happening. But, well..... I guess this wasn't really a game, was it? Rider's form starts glitching worse, and worse, and they can be seen beginning to fade. I finally got to be a hero, didn't I? Eh, not like it matters much now, but well, I guess that's life. Good luck on your journey you two, and like always, Ride on.... Rider's glitching gets worse and worse, until slowly, steadily, they fade from existence.
............................................... Stella stares at the spot her former ally once lay
[It's over. This part of the quest has been completed.] [...] [Even I can feel the urge to move forward dampen....]
"N-No..." *Dio falls to the ground on his knees with a few tears rolling down his face* "..."
Stella stays where she is, she'll likely stay there for a while. Stay until she eventually picks herself back up, a red cape tied to her neck...
[So the first irreversible loss...] [But I digress. It may be best to leave this place...]
*Dio slowly stands up with his head down, the brim off his hat covering his eyes* "..."
"It's like, everyone I know dies. Even my allies and family." *Dio walks back to the inn without Silver Bullet picking him up this time*
