Tokyo Millennium - The Valhalla District of the Year 20XX
[For some reason still unknown, a gateway to a future after nothing but death and destruction has been opened in the middle of Tokyo itself, into the far future of the year 20XX, after 206X, maybe soon after, perhaps even way beyond. He didn't know at this point, it wasn't exact for some reason, and people all around gave him this very strange look, "Weirdo", "It can't possibly be him", "It's been too long", people were saying a lot of stuff, perhaps he made it into history...? Yeah, right.] [This was the future of his home, the place he is working so hard on, the Valhalla district, filled with demons and people walking around from place to place, the structure itselt being closed off and very industrial looking buildings and houses, blue and white lights give off this "cyberpunk" vibe. This district had it all and in different directions. A bunch of different bars, armor and weapons stores to the right from the portal that only Nexus residents could see, on the left, a way to a very massive building called "Colosseum", pretty straightforward, and the roaring of a crowd can be heard, maybe there was a tournament going on?. To the front, a building full of lights of different, vibrant colors and neon, simply called "Crazy, Furious Disco" with a lot of influx of people coming and going, some drunk, some in party fashion and even one or two Jack Frosts. There was a lot to do, yet, Kazuya was just sitting in a bench of what used to be the Inokashira Park.] To think it would turn out like this...amazing. [Kazuya didn't have much words for this, and this district was to big for him to explore in just a few hours, especially if this portal could close and trap him here for a while, maybe forever. He cannot let that happen.]
As with all suspicious portals, Gamma sighs, mutters something about how this better be good, and steps in. He is pleasantly surprised to find it leads to a nice, futuristic town rather than some forest or something. Alright.... You know, I've seen a lot of old-fashioned places, or wilderness, very little.... City. Its kinda strange actually. Gamma does his best to avoid the most of the crowds, he walks by where the park once was and waves to Kazuya You planning on moping there, or actually joining the fun? I'm not much of a city person, but at times like this, isn't one supposed to see the sights, even if only a few of them? At least, that's what I've always thought.
Moping? I'm just...not really sure on what to do here, there is so much...far more than I ever hoped to see, Gamma. [Kazuya fakes a quick smile before standing up and looking away to some other place, not even sure where to begin.] What do you think? Should we go take a look somewhere? I think the plans were to make it as similar to Tokyo as possible, but I can tell it's been decades from my time...
Gamma looks around at the crowd again.... He briefly looks at the arena before turning back to Kazuya Well, I didn't bring too much money with me, so shopping's kinda out, I... Well, I've never been to any sort of club before, so I'd rather not dance... Maybe the Colosseum? I imagine its a lot like the sports arenas we're used to, except, well, there's probably fighting there. Might be interesting to check out the kind of people there. Gamma motions for Kazuya to join him as he walks towards the Colosseum, but most certainly isn't going to wait if Kazuya decides to go somewhere else
[Kazuya simply nods and quickly follows him. Taking a closer look at the people reveals the mostly irregular clothing people used, from very old styles comparable to the victorian era, to the futuristic look of some of the citizen with armor and battle suits, some were even wearing modern clothing, to the point of looking like people from our time. All of them probably came from very different realities, times and districts inside of Tokyo Millennium, maybe even from all around the world. It was worthy of note, as they made their way to the colosseum, the use of Arm Terminals all around by a lot of people, at this point, COMPs appeared to be very massive and widely used.] This is such a bizarre feeling, don't you feel like that too, Gamma? Just walking around in something unknown and that will exist, it's far different from walking in past times. [Kazuya sighs as he covers his face, now next to the colosseum.] Ignore me, I'm just being weird here. [The colosseum was exactly what it was called, a gigantic and futuristic looking colosseum, from the which a thunderous applause could be heard, as well as people calling out to someone, all at the same time. From the exterior, the big entrance was protected by guards who were taking the tickets of the many different citizens, the ticket office seemed fairly empty at the moment, the prices were marked as "Macca". And near the entrance, a statue could be seen, it was not very big but it seemed central and important, some people passing by just stood there, looking at it for one moment as they got curious, a plaque was at the feet of said statue.] They use Macca here too, I hope I still have some with me somewhere...! Do you mind if you give me a while to look for it, Gamma? You don't even need to stand here, I'll call you when I find some if you're interested in going in as well.
The wandering barista managed to stumble upon the portal as he searched for a new place to set up. With his curiosity piqued, the man would park his bike and approach the portal. The last portal I saw brought me here. Perchance, this will take me home. With a last act of caution, he'd fill his apron pockets with a small device and a pair of smaller objects. With a final nod, he'd step through the portal and into the future. O-Oh my word. The bright world of the future had sent the man right into a daze. Instead of his world of the past, he was jettisoned into the distant future. The bright lights began to overwhelm him to some extent as he quickly finds somewhere less bright, just to catch his breath.
Its definitely something else, though, I wouldn't call it a certainty. Makes it feel like everything we do's useless, you know? Gamma chuckles as they head into the arena, he notices all the COMPs around.... Well, the colosseum's bound to be interesting then. He takes sight of the statue, and turns around when Kaz addresses him again Macca? W.... Wait, no, I think I've gotten it as payment a few times, guess that's normal here though.... Sorry I can't help there, unless they take antique coins as currency. Gamma shows a few cheaper yen coins to demonstrate, before putting them back in his wallet Anyways, take your time, you can learn a lot just walking around you know. With that, he walks over to the statue and tries to talk to one of the people who stopped by it Hello, sorry to be a bother, I'm rather new and town and I was curious to see if it was always like this. Oh, and pardon my rudeness, forgot to introduce myself. You can call me Gamma, for the brief time we know each other
[As Ryoma steps through the portal and is blinded by the lights of a bizarre future, he looks for a darker place to be in, and the only possible way would be into the many stores, and for even more dark, the vast slums of Valhalla.] ---- If that's the case, then I will go and buy some tickets for us, those coins will not be enough but I'm sure I have something around here, I'll be back soon! [Kazuya walks away and Gamma makes his way to the statue, as he is now able to take a closer look, he is able to see this statue is, in fact, one of Kazuya himself, wearing a slightly different armor to the one he uses on usually dangerous missions or events. His right side and part of his chest was covered by a long cape, and the long neck of it also covered his neck and part of his chin. His left arm depicted with a slightly more advanced COMP model, and his hand was resting on his hip. The plaque under it read "The First Champion". The people looking at the statue turned to Gamma, it was a pair of teenagers, both male. One had spiky hair, a light armor and a COMP on his right arm, his right side was also covered by a cape of color red, while the other seemed like a fairly normal guy, simply wearing a red motorcycle jacket.] Tetsuo: "So polite for someone of Common Rank! Hello, my name is Tetsuo it's a pleasure." Kaneda: "And I'm Kaneda, hoping you are having a good time around here. It usually is like this, yeah. Tournaments like this one happen frequently, turns out people have a taste for battle." Tetsuo: "You could say we have many gladiators hoping to become stronger here"
Gamma looks up at the statue for a moment... Figures, he shakes his head to turn his attention to the two teens in front of him Sorry about any oddities Tetsuo, Kaneda. I come from the fringes you could say, seems I missed the trend with these COMPs. *sigh* One downside of country life I suppose. What are these tournaments usually like anyways? I know a long time ago there were people hired specifically for this sort of thing, but I'm not very caught up on the now. Gamma shrugs and looks over to the one wearing armor, which I believe is Tetsuo. I take it you're participating as well? In which case, surely you'd know how to enter. I'm not sure how long I can stay, but I think it might be nice to try out if I'm not too late.
Ryoma makes his way into the slums and leans himself against a wall. The system shock slowly begins to fade as his breathing slows. Whew...a bit of a start to the old heart. The man would then finally notice his surroundings and look around a bit. I should've brought my bike with me...this place looks like it could use a warm cup of coffee!
(Slithers in looking like a snake centipede hybrid) ayyy
Tetsuo: Why yes, I will, after all I want to fight the guy everyone keeps talking about. Long, black hair, yellow armor and blue visor, "Hawk". [Kaneda thinks for a moment before talking as he sighs at Tetsuo's energy and cockyness.] Kaneda: "Anyway. These tournaments are different and depend on a lot of stuff. Sometimes it's a Devil Busters-Only tournament, they are basically the ones keeping us safe from demons most times. Others are just basical melee battles of all kinds, and then there is the Championships like the current one. Warriors of all kinds and styles can join...all you need is an Arm Terminal and at least one companion." [Tetsuo raises his right arm and shows off his COMP to Gamma, which actually takes a good portion of his arm, to the point it could be confused for some kind of mechanical arm.] Tetsuo: "You probably noticed how not everyone has these, and that's because you must be permitted the ownership of a COMP, since they all have the Demon Summoning Program now. It even means becoming a Second Rank Citizen, able to join the Devil Busters and have access to certain exclusive areas to Second and First Ranks." --- [As Ryoma takes a look around, he is able to notice how the people in the slums look far from content, and even Oni are walking around in groups as people do their best to hide from them. They appear to be in charge of the area. Some kids are also playing close to a parking lot, being watched over by one lonely woman with her eyes covered with bandages, wearing nothing but a simple white dress] ???: "Be careful, don't run off too far off kids." [She tells them with a very soothing and gentle voice.]
(He slithers to ryoma) ayyy, my dude
The man winces as he realizes how poor the living conditions are in the slums. He eyes the Oni group briefly, they aren't the weirdest things he's seen, albeit the way they carry themselves makes the man shudder. As soon as he could, he'd move towards the woman and the playing children. Um, excuse me mademoiselle...my name is Ryoma Sakamichi, and I was curious about this place. The man would smile and speak softly as to try not startle the potentially visually impaired woman.
(He slithers to the kids) ay how ya doing kids
Gamma shrugs, formalities no longer as important, and looks over at the newer COMP I'm well aware that they're not universal, they'd never trust the likes of me with one at least, still, it looks quite impressive. Back home there were maybe two or three people with that sort of privilege. Gamma glances back at the statue.... Probably a bad idea to bring it up, but he might shoot the idea later anyways Of course, being a commoner I don't get to play with such things, but still I'm glad to have someone else around to keep demons at bay. One such person's a friend of mine actually, perhaps I'll have a chat about entering. I'm not that impressive, but perhaps I'd be able to put on some sort of show sometime. Where does one register anyways?
Zero somehow teleports to the millenial tokyo. "...I guess I'm finally here, somewhere in the past where I could finally meet the guy who made me." He spots Gamma with two people there, "Gamma? What are you doing here?"
(edited by Zero-X)
Angelina: "It is nice to meet you, good man. My name is Angelina. However, you do not seem to be from around here, despite your name and appearance." [The woman turns to him, facing him with a smile before turning to the kids once more.] Angelina: "The Slums...there is not much to be said about it. We all are simple Common Rank citizens, doing everything we can to make a living in this hard world, but I do not complain, I am in charge of those cute little orphans." [Despite the bandages covering her face, she seemed completely capable of pointing at the exact location of the kids. They were three, two girls and one boy. The girls had black hair, one had long hair , all the way down to her hip, while the other girl had a nice ponytail on the back of her head. The boy, of short, brown hair, was playing with the girls by chasing them with a wooden sword, seemingly trying to hit them but failing, but...perhaps, he was purpously missing the hits?] Angelina: "Tell me about you, Ryoma. What brings you here, into these forgotten streets?" ---- [Tetsuo puts his arm around Gamma as he pulls him towards the tickets office. Kaneda follows with an annoyed look on his face.] Tetsuo: "Right there, all you gotta do is show your entire set of demons and you are good to go, basically, you must pay a fee though!" [As they approach the tickets office, they are able to see two different sets of stands. One for entries and another one for viewers. Kazuya was waiting in line for the viewers area with both arms crossed and his eyes closed. People around him kept giving him weird looks, and even Kaneda and Tetsuo got curious at first. Regardless, Tetsuo points at the stands right by the side of Kazuya.] Tetsuo: "One registers right there. I will do it first if you don't mind since I've been here before." [Tetsuo quickly moves to the stand and, after giving the one in charge a small fee. Summons a group of three demos, an Orthrus, a Pixie and a Forneus. It takes maybe a minute or two, but the person behind the stand gives a form to Tetsuo which he rapidly fills, asking for name and equipment. After this, he is given a small id card as he turns back to Gamma.] Tetsuo: "Quick and simple, Arm Terminals open your way to tons of new possibilities!"
(He slithers closer to the kids) aayyy
Gamma lets Tetsuo drag him along, averse as he might be to contact, and watches the registration process, easy enough, even though they're from a different time, should still be able to fit in That it does Tetsuo, if you don't mind, I think I'll try to find my friend and see about entering before it is too late. Thank you both for your assistance in getting around. Gamma briefly bows to Tetsuo and Kaneda before heading over to speak to Kazuya Apparently they're still accepting sign-ups if you're interested. Looks like you're getting a bit of attention regardless, perhaps it would be nice to get to meet people by fighting too. Gamma shrugs and looks towards the participant registry If nothing else, its cheap to enter and we should still get to watch if we lose. 'Course, they've got a COMP-based thing, so I can only enter if you're willing to lend a hand.
A good eye, Madame Angelina. I seem to have gotten a bit lost. The man scratches his cheek shyly as he follows her gaze to the kids. Orphans, you say? I used to be just like those tykes... A sad smile crosses his lips as he watches the boy swing his sword. But I'd rather not lament with such a beautiful sight. Youth and innocence at their finest. However... He turns to face Angelina once more. ...those large men, the ones with red skin and horns. What is their story? I could wager a guess but I'd rather not take chances considering how fresh I am to this world.
I have the feeling that it would be unwise to join, people might actually recognize me, somehow... [Yes, this was decades after his time, but still not over 100 years, he might still be in the minds of people, hell...he might still be alive and watching the whole thing.] Lend a hand...this could be quite possibly the dumbest thing I've done in a while but...as long as you promise to return it..and avoid summoning some very specific demons. [Kazuya takes of his modified COMP and headset, and instead hands it over to Gamma.] It's not difficult to use, they know you will lead them temporarily as well. With the headset, you will be able to talk to them, as well understand their language...there is also the Skill Crack Program, which is able to make you use the powers of any of the 12 demons I possess, but be warned, the COMP will shut down for a while, how long this state will last depends on the skill. [Kazuya checks a few things on his COMP, making sure the buttons were working, as well as the screen itself was displaying stuff as it should.] However, this COMP I have, it feeds on the users' own energy, expect your own psyche to debilitate for each demon you have summoned at the moment and the skills they use. I can only use 3 or 4 at the same time, and this is only after a year or two of experience. If I ever went up to 5 or 6, I would lose consciousness very quickly, in less than 10 minutes in fact. ---- Angelina: "They are the Oni, you could call them a mafia." [The woman hugs herself, as if trying to comfort herself to what could be painful memories.] Angelina: "You know these are, yes? Organized crimes, just thugs making their living off of the weak and powerless. They call themselves "Yakuza", like that powerful japanese mafia from before the Great Cataclysm. They have been here for over 4 years now, terrorizing everyone and killing those who tried to fight back." [The boy accidentaly hits the girl with the ponytail, and he immediately lets go of the sword and runs up to her, apologizing and giving her a tight hug as tears streamed down his face. The girl simply laughed it off, as the hits didn't hurt at all. The girl of long hair simply teased them.] Angelina: "The Oni killed their parents. There is no one we can ask for help, they are too many of them and the Devil Busters have no power here, and even when they have tried to do anything they...are just as powerless to stop them." [The woman grimaces for a moment, then bows to Ryoma.] Angelina: "I am very sorry. I talk too much."
Gamma nods and accepts the COMP, doing his best to fit it on similarly to how Kazuya was wearing it Got it, I'll make sure to avoid summoning more than one or two, do most of the work myself. Though, if I remember correctly they required at least two participants... Anyways, you mentioned some demons I need to avoid summoning, care to tell me which ones? I believe its too late to change if I register, so I'll make sure not to use them.
The man chokes back tears as he begins to speak. His words are filled with ferocity as he looks between Angelina and the kids. How dare they.... His hands ball into fists but he composes himself once more. Angelina, please. If you know anything else, please tell me. I can't stand idly by as some thugs oppress people who aren't as well off. People like that are the reason my blood is always boiling! He tugs at his apron as he looks down. I may not look much. But I refuse to let evil have its way.
Lucifer, Satan, Beelzebub, Odin and Metatron. These are...unique, very well known even, the world would panic if they saw any of these. [Kazuya looks away for a moment. Panic is not good enough to describe what it could spark among the population, especially Messians and Gaeans.] However, Jack Frost, Pixie, Shiki-Ouji and Oberon should be simple enough for you to use. There is also Pascal, Baal and Trumpeter, but they are stronger and might be harder to work around with. [Kazuya points at the screen, the top corner.] You should be able to check a record of what kind of powers they have, even their current status. I meade sure to keep track of these as easily as possible so I can keep them alive at any cost. ---- [Angelina didn't know what to say now, he seemed so determined to do so, but still.] Angelina: "If you go down the street from the which you came, you should be able to find a very tall building, its structure is very similar to the times before the great cataclysm, so it should be easy to spot...there...the Oni are staying, as well as their boss." [The woman looks down once more.] Angelina: "If you can help us somehow, please do so by pacific means...but do not endager your precious life like countless others, it is way too dangerous to confront them."
Taiga wanders the city streets, having walked in that odd portal a while ago... And man what a city it is, the place looks like some kinda Science Fiction story even to him. And all these demons walking about without hurting people too? It's pretty impressive... And as the doctor turns down a street he notices Ryoma, the other Rider looking a bit bothered by something in fact. "Oi, Ryoma what's happening over here? You look about ready to pick a fight or something man..." Ta- no, Snipe looks over at the woman his new ally is speaking to with a curious expression on his face. "If something is going down here then I guess I'll lend a hand too, might as well do what I can. I am a doctor after all." With that he'd glance between them, absently toying with something in his pockets as he listens to hear what exactly is going on.
Phillip is reading a book, walking, as you do. When suddenly he just walks through the portal without actually noticing that that's what he did, some time passes before he bothers to look up at the surrounding area. "I must have been studying too hard, what a peculiar place. I last recall being in that park, though this does not appear to be any familiar location. I have two options, investigate, or retrace my steps. Both certainly share an appeal to some degree, but why not look around?" Phillip walks off in search of anything of interest, other than the city itself. "This place certainly is strange, nothing like Fuuto, nor the Nexus. Best to be safe." Phillip clutches a red device with a single port on it, it appears that it could house a USB memory.
While his writer is tempted to try summoning Lucifer immediately just to see what happens, Gamma is far more sane than that. He simply looks at the program for a bit, and nods to Kazuya One last thing, will I need to recall them if they get too hurt in order to avoid anything bad happening? Just something nice to check in on first, would hate to lose one. Is there anything else important I need to keep note of? If the tutorial on summoning demons is over, Gamma would step over to the registry line in order to try signing up, if not, he'll listen attentively like a good boi
The man offers a wink and a grin to the woman. Mon cher, I would not dare do something as unthinkable as losing my life. I'm just going to have a pleasant chat with those Oni. No need to worry about me... He turns to face the the children as he speaks. ...the only one who should be brewing trouble is me. With that, the man would wave to the kind woman and her troupe of toddlers before running towards the building. I won't let those kids lose their future like I did. That's a promise Angelina! She could probably hear the man's words as he left.
Taiga sighs and walks off after Ryoma, whatever KR C is getting into it's likely he'll need some help. Even more so if he's dealing with Oni, as he leaves the man gives Angelina a few parting words. "Relax miss, I'm sure we'll be just fine in there. After all, who would want to hurt a doctor and a coffee salesmen? We're perfectly harmless." With that he turns back towards her for a moment, a smirk on his face showing that they are perhaps not quite as harmless as one would think.
Yes, you will know at all times if they are about to colapse. But you should be able to tell if something might finish them off in one hit, so be careful and return them if anything bad happens, that's all there is to know, you can figure out the rest, I'm sure, you've seen me use this thing before after all. [Since the tutorial was over and Gamma was a good boi, the moment he stped over the registry line, not only did he realize no one else was there, but he also noticed how the person in charge of the registration just kept looking at him with an impatient look.] R.Man: "If yer gonna join, just do it fast, will ya?" [The man hands him a small form, in the which he had to write his name, a "nickname", his current equipment, a small summary on his style and the two demons he would be using.] ---- [Philip, indeed, has made it into the future. Just like everyone else, some very specific options to explore show before him. A dancing disco, weapon shops, as well as technology shops, armor, food, all you could imagine in fact, as well as the way towards the slums.] ---- [Snipe made its way to Ryoma, however, the man apparently didn't see him.] Angelina: "What a good man...but...who are you exactly, mister?" [The woman with bandages on her eyes asks the doctor as she sees Ryoma running off, and the kids keep playing among themselves. She smiles though, she had the feeling that it would be fine regardless.] Angelina: "No...it is fine. Please take care of him, our world need more people like him." ---- [People all around give Ryoma weird looks as he passes by them running, even some Oni seemed annoyed at first, but simply let him be, as they didn't feel like following a random man. After a few minutes of running, Ryoma finds himself in front of a large building of about 4 floors, red and black in color, completely different from the rest of the structures. It gives off this very old vibe to it, and the atmosphere itself feels different, heavier. The large door leading to the first floor were being guarded by two angry Oni, wielding massive war mallets.]
Phillip always prioritizes safety, and heads directly for the slums. His partner did always tell him to avoid dangerous situations. "Gee whiz I sure hope there aren't any malignant ne'er do wells around these parts!" Phillip tosses his book, titled "American Cartoons from the '60s!" to the side. "Just as I practiced! Soon enough, I'll become a voice actor, and take the industry by storm!"
Taiga walks in behind Ryoma and glances at the two Oni, they could likely take them down... But, killing everything in his path isn't exactly a very doctorly move. "Oi Ryoma, any idea how to get past those two? I'd rather not have to fight our way in, so let's leave violence as a last resort. Hmm, I guess I could try to distract them with one of my Gashat robots? They can fly without joining my suit, so it's an option... You got any ideas?"
Gamma nods and begins filling out the form. Obviously Gamma for the name, as for a nickname.... Probably means a title. He writes "The Frozen Force". As for equipment, he doesn't have any armor or anything, so its simply a sturdy athletic shirt and a heavy staff, simple stuff. For style, he writes "specializes in distant attacks and avoids close-quarters". Finally, he writes down Pixie and Oberon for demons being used Summary: Name:Gamma Nickname: "The frozen force" Equipment: Athletic shirt, heavy staff, (and the COMP, duh) Style: "Specializes in distant attacks and avoiding close-quarters" Demons: Pixie and Oberon With that taken care of, Gamma would look over the paper one more time before turning it in
The man turns to Taiga in surprise. Goodness me! How long have you been there Dr. Hanaya? And heavens no. We must not tilt our hands just yet. Follow my lead. Ryoma turns and bows to the two Oni and offers a warm smile. Good day my fair gentlemen! I am a wandering merchant and I heard tell that your boss is quite reputable. Ryoma rubs his hands together rather eagerly. Do not let my appearance fool you. I am quite successful in my field. And would cherish the chance to work alongside your boss, well under your boss. I'm not a mad man! He gives a sly grin.
Eito walked through the park listening to music on his headphones before seeing the portal. "What could go wrong?" "Everything..." The teen then irresponsibly entered the portal.
