Wings of Gold: A High Class Bar
In the busy town of Shibuya, on the top floor of a large building complex, a high class bar sits with a fancy golden edged red felt door. The exterior of the bar is painted with a fin gold and black pattern. Inside, the room is dark with black marble stone furniture and golden cushions on all the chairs. Many types of old and expensive liquor line the shelf while a rather unimposing looking man sits behind the bar. His hair is blonde and finely calmed and he wears a black leather vest with a white undershirt. He'd be busy cleaning out glasses and organizing the many selections while he waits for the first customer of the night.
[Having done some prior research into popular bars around Japan, Tony decides to try the first one on his list.] "So this is the place then Jarvis?" [The man speaks to his watch as he stands before the red door. And moments later the watch replies.] Yes sir. A rather elegant establishment, so please do behave. "You got it." Sir? "Yes, Jarvis?" Your tie, sir. [Tony grins before fixing his tie and moving to open the door.] "Much obliged, pal!" [Tony finally enters the establishment and gives a small whistle in amazement. Noticing free space at the bar, he quickly takes a seat and strikes up a conversation.] "Good evening. Quiet night?"
The blonde haired man would stare up with sharp golden eyes seemingly to match his appearance. He would look over Tony and with a coy smile would finally respond. "Yes, seems as though there aren't many who've come to experience our fine selection of firewater. You, however, seem to be a man of finer tastes. Could I perhaps interest you in something from our selection?" The man would gesture towards a shelf full of different kinds of whiskey and brandy. There were even some more unique types of liquor that seemed hard to find elsewhere. All the bottles in the selection seemed to either be quite old or of a rarer brand.
[Tony lets out a small laugh as he rests his arms on the bar.] "Real shame for them. For me, however, I get to play the role of a kid in a candy shop!" [His eyes light up as they look past the blonde man. So many new drinks, how had he never heard of most of these drinks? He smiles before looking back at the man.] "Well then, I wouldn't want to jump right off the deep end. What do you suggest I start with, hm? You seem to be a bit more knowledgeable than I am."
The man would shuffle over towards the shelf before pulling an almost royal looking bottle off it. The glass part of the bottle would be a deep royal blue while the top of the bottle had a cap that was made to look like a golden crown. "May I suggest starting off with this one? It's one of our less expensive brands but I assure you it's still a quality scotch. Royal Salute 38-Year-Old Stone of Destiny, only made with whiskey no less then 38 years old. Only 600 bottles exist in production."
[A raised eyebrow and an impressed whistle would be the first response to the bottle in question.] "One of your less expensive brands? I really hope Pepper doesn't show up and check my accounts...but that aside, it sounds delicious! My father was a fan of scotch so I've always been partial to it." [His lips curve into a sentimental smile.] "So let's get to it! I can't wait to give it a taste! Oh, I'm curious about one thing. What's with that name, Stone of Destiny?"
The man would uncap the bottle and pull out a glass. After adding a couple cubes of ice tot he glass he would carefully pour the contents into the glass making sure not to spill any of the valuable scotch. He would hand the cup over the counter to Tony while waiting to see his reaction. "This scotch is actually named after the coronation stone of ancient Scottish kings. It's also known as the Stone of Scone. As you can imagine, it's quite a significant occasion as this is a significant blend."
"A beverage named after a stone used in an old rite. I can't say that I'm anything less than intrigued by it all. I can only assume such a significant title is handed down to something with equally significant flavor." [He grabs the glass from below and brings it just below his nose. He lets it sit there a moment as he appreciates the notes of the aroma and how they blend into the din that is the scotch. Satisfied, he brings the glass to his lips and takes a small amount into his mouth. Once more he sits there silently as he lets the liquid coat his tongue. A rather intimate approach to drinking, but it certainly is called for when drinking from such an extravagant bottle. Satisfied once more, he swallows and places the glass before him (on a coaster should there be any nearby, he is a gentleman after all).] "A rich flavor and a rich history. Truly a beverage fit for a king...though I'm sure this is just the tip of the iceberg."
The blonde man would smile confidently seeing Tony already satisfy with what he's had. He would look over towards the shelf again and the towards a door leading into the back before speaking again. "Of course, would you like to try one of our more expensive bottles? Or perhaps you're looking for something...more unique. Either way, I believe you'll be satisfied with the experience I can provide for you." He would pull out another glass almost in anticipation for Tony's choice.
[A difficult question to be sure, but Tony knew his answer deep down.] "Playing it safe would be too boring. Let's try out one of those more unique flavors up on that shelf." [He takes another intimate sip from his drink.] "Dealer's choice! You haven't let me down yet, so I think I can keep trusting you!" [He places the glass down again and grins at the man.]
The man would smile and instead of going to the shelf would quickly walk into the back room.He would come back holding a bottle almost completely decorated in gold with small wings etched on the front. The liquor inside almost seemed to sparkle mysteriously. "This one won't be from the shelf. This is a small secret of our establishment. A special type of Whiskey that we only server here. It's a bit stronger and more pungent in taste then I'm sure most are used to but I believe you can appreciate its finer taste. I can guarantee that it's been aged quite a while but the details as for how long our somewhat of a secret." The man would pour the liquid into the cup from before without any ice. In the cup it would take on a dark golden color that sparkled in the light. Something in the man's eyes seemed to sparkle almost as if they were actually made of gold. "No ice for this one. The flavors are...well it's better to just experience it for yourself."
[Tony finishes his first beverage as he watches the man retire to the back room for a moment. A curious gesture, but like in a fine jewelry establishment most of the finer pieces are kept in back until the right buyer comes around. By now the man had returned and Tony eyed the bottle rigorously. He scanned every bit of that bottle with an inquisitive stare. The sparkle caught his attention but that was just the light. Wasn't it?] "A stronger whiskey and without ice, huh? Just like dad used to have 'em." [He lifts the glass and brings it to his nose in the same fashion as before, however, this time he was somewhat more alert. Something about the overwhelming gold motif didn't sit well with him. It was probably just paranoia. With a silent resignation, he brings the glass forward.] "Cheers!" [And then he brings it up to his lips and takes a swig from it. The same intimate test as before takes place in his mouth and his eyes go wide in shock! This taste, something about it was just new and exciting! After several confused seconds, he swallows.] "Whew! That's pretty good, yeah. It certainly was unique!" [He grins as he places the glass down.]
The man would smile smugly in response as something odd began occurring within Tony's vision. The man's skin seemed to be peeling off and flying away as a golden butterfly. The man wasn't the only one either. As he looked around he would notice that butterflies were beginning to swarm the entire facility. "Well, do you understand the secret of this whiskey yet?" The butterflies would begin swarming the entirety of the building obscuring ant attempt to see through them. "Remember, next time you visit a Wings Of Gold branch to request me by name, Mimi or as I prefer, simply Persona." As The butterflies began flying around wildly Tony would lose consciousness and awaken in front of the bar only the bar would now be gone. All that would remain in it's place is a blank wall and Tony's memories would be hazy at best of the bar save for what the bartender last told him.
[Tony stands up from his groggy position on the ground.] "Jarvis..." Yes sir? "I want all available resources searching for the Wings of Gold." Fancy another drink so soon, sir? "Funny, but no. That man, thing...Mimi or Persona...I want to see them again. I have a handful of questions for them." Very good, sir. "And Jarvis..." Sir? "You're driving home." Very good, sir. [Leaving the establishment, the man enters a quiet alley and disappears. Moments later a red suit would fly up into the sky and fade out of sight behind some clouds.]
