Pokemon Gym Ideas
So, if you had a Pokemon Gym, what would the type be and how would it be designed? When in the game would it be and what team would you and the gym trainers use? Of course, I would have an Ice type Gym. Ice type Gyms usually have the whole Ice puzzle gimic, but I think I'd do something a little different. I think I'd have it more as a snowy filled mountain, with trainers hiding in the snow to ambush challengers. The goal of the dungeon would be to push a number of lava rocks into holes in the gym to melt the snow. 3 in all will open the Gym. As a Gym leader, I'd probably be the 6th-8th Gym leader with the team of Weavile, Cryogonal, Abomasnow (But of course) and Auroras, adding A. Ninetails and Mamoswine, if I have more than 4 members (See: Isn't a mainline Pokemon game). Trainers in the Gym would use the Snover, Swinub and Weavile lines, with the odd Cryogonal and Jynx thrown in for good measure.
Mine would be the 7th-ish, Ghost/Fighting Gym; with the player being given two pathes; -The Ghost path is a graveyard where there fewer trainers, but they're unavoidable. -The Fighting path is a training ground where there a lot more trainers, but most of them can be avoided. After completing one path, the Gym Leader's team changes to be of the type opposite to the path. The teams are: -Ghost: --Cofagrigus --Misdreavus --Chandelure -Fighting: --Hariyama --Crabominable --Pangoro The trainers would have 'Mons of those lines with a few Dusclops and/or Hawluchas in for variety.
Mine would be a rather unorthodox gym, being an Eevee based gym rather than a type based one. Remeber the kimono sisters from Johto? Those style trainers as preliminary, and then my team as: -Umbreon -Espeon -Glaceon -Eevee at 5 levels above the others
Dark types, being my favorite types, would be my type of choice. The gym would be last . The gimmick would be a mix of both Morty from Johto and Brawly from Hoenn. Like brawly, the gym is a maze. And like Morty, the more trainers you beat, the darker it gets once all of the trainers are defeated, I, the gym leader, will appear before you in the pitch-black darkness. Team: -Greninja -Weavile -Spiritomb -Hydregon -Absol (Mega, Ace) (If hard mode is on) -Pangoro Trainers would have Deinos, Zweilous, Panchams, Absols, and the occasional Sabelye

When I did for myself: I am more a Water or a Ghost type trainer when I play the game. So I would probably have Pokemons like: Feraligatr, Grenninja, Gengar (Mega), Banette, Rotom, Empoleon. Arena would probably be full off waterfalls, which show diffrent Illusions in the water. You have to decifer which is the real way to the leader and which is fake, or one of the trainers fight you. Trainers would also either be swimmers in the water, or Witches behind the waterfalls. Aside that I made my own Pokemon game and these were my Gym Leaders: https://i.imgur.com/BaTW5oz.png (These are pretty old)

Let’s see... I believe I’ll do a different one for both IC and OOC. OOC me I’d say the gym would be a Dark type Gym, filled with ninja kids or hex maniacs, using the appropriate ghost, Dark, or bug types. The gym would be designed like a dojo-themed maze, it’s main Gimmick being fake walls, ones that appear real but can be walked straight through. The first one would be introduced by a trainer ambushing the player from within it, with most of the trainers afterwards giving hints as to which wall is fake rather than walking right out and showing you (though I imagine ambushes from it would still happen occasionally). As for my own team: Alolan Muk, both poison and dark, would also possess the Iron Ball Fling combo to surprise an early mon Liepard, this one would be focused on annoyance with moves like fake out and sucker punch Zoroark (ace), comes in disguised as the next mon I’ll mention, Zoroark likes to start with Nasty Plot before moving on in an attempt to sweep with Night Daze and flamethrower Spiritomb: standard tanky dark type, major reason for existing is to give Zoroark a good disguise, though its curse can prove annoying if you’re not expecting it. I would be an upper mid-game gym leader, likely the 5th or 6th, if 6th it would mostly be due to the complicated gimmick I actually have 3 ideas for the IC First, as the second or third gym leader, Sayaka would lead a music-themed normal type gym, where you find sheets of music and bring them to say, a piano before playing it to progress. This early in the game Gym leaders typically only have three mons, and so we get Clefairy: a fairly durable mon, Clefairy likes to use Metronome and pray for the best, or wish to heal itself Audino: like most audinos, all it can really do on it’s own is something like double edge, or considering how early this is, take-down. I do believe Audino can learn recover or wish, any healing would do Chansey (ace). Chansey would be known for its use of the defense-curl rollout combo, in addition to having take-down, its use of soft boiled to heal would turn Chansey into a simple damage test, in other words can you hurt it fast enough I’ll tell the other two when I get on lunch break, enjoy this for now
