Gin, offline mode has been an option the entire time.
In all honesty I thought the servers shut down years ago, but I take it they kept delaying it. I enjoyed Demon Souls overall, but it was clearly a time of highs and lows, such as the general uselessness of heavy armor, and while some bosses were great, there was also Dragon God.
