Roy is bland, one-note robot of a character in a game of characters who are trying to be more dimensional. He is led by the hand to most if not all of the games problems that need solving by either Marcus, Lilina (A MUCH better character by the way) or some other character whose goal seems to be to guide lord robot from place to place before shutting up eternally save for supports (iE Lugh, Nino's son, and Cecilia, one the generals in one of the most major counties in Elibe, for the most part). The only, see ONLY, reason people like him is because he was that cool fire sword-wielding guy for Smash Melee. Glad to see the fan base voted Roy as the second most popular fire emblem lord, after Ike, for his appearance in another game.
Also, Corrin is a Mary Sue, perfect prince, dragon that is OK because he's you or something. He is rarely called out for doing something stupid, I think the only time is for him being to trusting of an obviously evil kid in Revelations. Well done, Nintendo. You made me hate myself. Since Conquest Corrin seems to be floating around a lot, and I can see why, he's pretty much Roy 2.0 in that game, so I thought I'd throw my thoughts on him here.
Speaking of Mary Sues, Hi Ephiram. This guy is not affected by anything, even his own people admitting they hate him TO HIS FACE, something that would probably make better lords (Elincia) think on their actions and show some humanity, can storm castle after castle with 3 other guys and get away just fine because Perfection and is an annoyingly good unit because he's mr Perfect. Even Ike, who was a god amongst men in Radiant Dawn, had a weakness in his Res stat, but Ephiram is too cool for something as human as a weakness.
Micaiah is freaking stupid. She has her reasons most of the time, but others are just her being so. Goddam. Stupid. Also, she keeps Sothe around and fuck Sothe. Sothe is a freaking yes man, moron of a character who does nothing in both the story AND as a unit, at least past part 1. You know who would have made a better crutch character advisor in RD? Nolan. He's got battle experience and knows some tactics, as shown in the early chapters of Part 1, used to lead the Dawn Brigade before Micaiah showed up and is a really awesome old guy mentor, as seen with his minor conversations with Edward and Leonardo. But instead, we got Sothe. Yes I know this part wasnt me ranting on a lord, but I just thought I'd put it here
Marth is Bland, but I blame more the game he came from than the man himself.
Celica is stupid in the 4th act, but I actually like her more than Roy because she gets more character development than "Imma invade this place for invading us" until the end of the 4th act where he learns "Oh Shit. I'm the new king of this place I invaded."
I warned I had some things to say about certain lords in the series.
