The Travelling Magician: Beginnings?
The Nexus is fraught with many unique individuals, some wise, many dull, but none have come close to the grandeur of the ancient magician, who now makes his grand appearance. "What the... I don't remember sleeping here! Guess I had a party!" The glorious mage, Kosuke Nitou, has arrived. His rings glimmer in the light of the rising sun, sparkling with the magnificence of his great power! "I bet we had good food too! Too bad I can't remember it! Guess there's ONE way to check!" From his mystical cloak, he draws the divine condiment, pure white like the freshly fallen snow. "Topped off huh... Guess the party thing's a no-go!" Ah what wonder it must be to gaze upon such a glorious man. "ALRIGHT! Inventory time! Bag. Check! Rings. Check! Mayo. Check! Tent. Check! Everything's in order then!" And with that, the miracle working mage sets out into the harsh and unknown world!
A young woman wanders down the streets, looking around curiously as she walks through the city. "Geez... Haven't done much lately eh Termite? Odd scuffle here and there sure, but man don't ya wanna beat up somebody really worth fight?" There's a small set of eyes on her right hand at the moment, in her mind the parasite would "grin" and speak its agreement. Any musings to the creature are cut short however as Taylor spots a man shouting to himself. Full of energy and... Yelling about mayo? Huh, she didn't know it was that popular with anyone. Either way, she's just bored enough to walk up to the man and cough for a moment, announcing herself and waving at him a bit. "Huh, you seem new? Or I just haven't met you despite being so... Distinct, which seems a bit unlikely but not impossible. Taylor Herbert by the way and welcome to Tokyo, or what passes for it around here anyway."
The grand and benevolent Nitou raises his brightest of smiles. The scrutinous look dissecting the statement down to the rhythm of the words. "Tokyo? No no... This is Bangladesh! Don't say it! I know what you're thinking! 'I guess this guy has a better grasp of geography than I do.' I know I know... but don't let it get to you! Even if this WAS Tokyo, I'm quite familiar with it, and its people are familiar with me! Kosuke Nitou! Judging by your name, I'd say you're a foreigner!" The strong and handsome wizard holds an expression that seems to thoroughly grasp the situation, but what will come of this chance encounter?
Bangladesh... What. There's a slightly blank stare on the young woman's face as she looks the man over. "Huh. Can't say I've ever been there before, but I'm not even sure you're wrong... Space is kinda wacky here as far as I've seen, things just don't make as much sense as they should." She'd then push her glasses up, a smirk crossing her face as she hears his guess at her being foreign. He isn't wrong, but she can't help wonder why she hardly gets called out on it. "And yeah, I'm from America in fact... Ended up moving here for a few reasons, how about you? Seems like everyone who ends up around this place has some kinda story to tell of their own."
"Blast it all. I went and broke the Wandering Barista..." A lengthy sigh comes from behind the pair. "That is what happens on cobblestone streets. I was too busy appreciating the rustic look that I neglected to watch for pot holes. Oh well, I suppose that I have transformed into the Walking Barista now." The sad looking man stops for a moment, realizing there were people a few strides ahead of him. "Hm?" The man quickly raises his spirits and dons a magnificent smile. No reason to bring down the spirits of others. He slowly makes his approach, catching the names of the pair as he does. "Why hello there! How are you both doing this fine day? Oh, please excuse my intrusion. I am Ryoma Sakamichi, the Wandering Barista!" He offers a simple bow to the pair before rising.
The... Nitou scratches his chin, ok. He seems perplexed by the question about his origin. Of course, as he's preparing his long winded history lesson, the newcomer arrives. "We- Barista? Like coffee!? You got any food, man? I'm starvin' here! I'd even take one of those weird crunchy bread things!" He has a desperate look in his eyes. One which is quickly replaced by a look of confidence. "Ah ah ah, don't say it! You've lost your stock of food! I get that, but come on, dude! I'm in a bit of a- ohhhhhh! That means this is a chance! Let's get some food in our stomachs before we get to talking!" With a renewed fire in his eyes, Nitou begins marching along with a confident stride.
The young woman would give Ryoma a tired wave, there's a lack of energy in all her movements and even her voice is mostly flat. "Huh... A coffee seller? I've never been a huge fan of coffee but it's alright now and then, Taylor Herbert by the way nice to meet you." Two new people, what an odd night she's having. First some kind of magician, now a coffee seller. Either way, she's not about to get too excited here. Not unless there's something to stir up Termite anyway. "As for food, even if he doesn't have anything I'm sure we could find somewhere around here right? It is a city after all so there should be a place open even at this hour." Of course there's also money to think of, but well she's capable of that... Not that she'll own up to it so easily, lest she have to explain that her funding comes from things taken off beaten down gangsters.
Ryoma laughs sheepishly as he scratches at the back of his head. "You must be a mind reader... I actually worked on coffee cakes today, but my bike met an untimely death. But food would be nice, I have spent most of my morning walking aimlessly." Cue the dramatic stomach noises. He laughs shyly before addressing Taylor. "Coffee is an acquired taste. So I can understand what you mean. It is nice to meet you too, Taylor." He falls in line behind Nitou with a grin.
The gang comes to a clearing, a mound of ashes surrounded by rocks in the center. "Perfect! This'll do just nicely! Gather around! Give me some space, and I'll have us full in a jiffy!" Nitou scrambles around, performing various tasks such as gathering wood, and striking a fire. Very soon he has a good blaze going. He then digs out some skewers with various food items sticking off them wrapped in paper. He gives it a big whiff. "Still fresh! Let's get cooking!" Nitou lays a grill from his pack over the fire, and sets down the skewers on top of it. Pretty soon the area is filled with the pleasant aroma of grilled meat and veggies. "Almost done here, then we can sort out the storytelling!"
"BARBEQUE!?" The typically reserved Ryoma scrambles to cover his mouth with both hands. A moment later he calms himself. "Ahem. That is to say, I love barbeque. It has been many years since I have had the chance to have a proper cook out." Ryoma looks away with a bittersweet smile. His hands make their way into the pockets of his apron as he loses himself to his thoughts. "Oh that's right. Nitou, do you happen to have any cups?"
Taylor would look around the rocks, reaching out and feeling various insects scurrying around the place... Lots and lots of bugs, one might also note the girl looking noticeably calmer and more relaxed than she was a few moments ago. "Huh, seems like you've got all kinds of things Kosuke... Can't say I have such a wide range of items on hand, but I don't exactly go out intending to camp or anything either." She'd take a breath, inhaling the scent of cooking meat with a slight smile on her face. She's almost happy at the sight of food... And one might hear a grumbling sound from her stomach. Almost as if she's some fool who refuses to eat enough. "O-oh, guess I'm hungrier than I would have first thought... and stories huh? Well, I guess I've got a few of those myself, but not so sure on which ones to tell." Hah, she's got great stories sure. She could talk about the time she almost died fighting a guy who turns into a dragon, great idea for people you barely know right?
Nitou turns over three of the skewers, and retrieves them. He parcels them out among those present, and whips out a cream colored bottle. He begins applying a thick paste to the top of his skewer, offering the bottle to the others. "Mayonnaise? It's good!" Nitou offers the bottle around, waiting for someone to take it.
The girl would... Actually take the bottle for a moment, adding some of it to a skewer and biting into the food with a grin on her face. "Not bad at all! Wouldn't expect it to be this good in fact. Huh, who know mayo could add so much?" Clearly Nitou did, Taylor herself, however, was utterly unaware of the greatness of this condiment. Odd considering she's from the US. Either way, the girl would rub the back of her head and begin to start her "story". "Anyway, storytime right? Well, I'm pretty average myself. Usual highschool crap, not much to say there... I guess if there's anything of note about me, it'd be that I'm from what's widely considered the most dangerous city in America? Despite being pretty normal, I'd be lying if I said I haven't found a bit of trouble with gangs and such... Home isn't exactly a great place for me, but eh what can ya do?" Taylor would then shrug, standing up and waving to the man as she devours the last of her meal with a small smile on her face. "Anyway, thanks for the food Nitou. I'll be sure to treat ya to something at some point, but for now, I've got things to take care of so catch you around!" Taylor walks off into the night, a smirk spreading across the girl's face as she wanders to do what she's best at... Termite's hungry too after all, and it's kinda fun finding a meal for him really.
