Gate to Another World: Eyes that Watch from Places Unseen
Today a local convention center was holding an event promising exciting new technology and advancements beyond the imagination. The one behind these revelations was a rich scientist type by the name of Yutani Isa. She apparently already had a reputation for being somewhat eccentric but the event was being put on with free entry so many showed up regardless. The center would already be full of people as the room where the main presentation was being held had finally opened its doors. A large portion of the people began to fill the room but there was another door next to the main entrance that most of the normal citizens seemed to be avoiding. The other door was guarded by a rather odd looking man with cyan hair and yellow eyes. He didn't seem to move much, almost like a statue. There was a sign next to him that read: "Supernatural Entrance, no civilians unless you're willing to put your life on the line."
Some big convention huh... Well he hasn't really got anything to do right now, so why the hell not come to this place? Tatsuya pulls up, the roar of a motorcycle's engine dying down as he stops and parks. As he steps into the building, his eyes dart around the room. Mostly just seems to be full of normal people. Well, except for the weird ass door everyone is avoiding anyways. That's his stop, and he grins at the yellow-eyed man despite any misgivings regarding his looks. "Well, this looks like a fun place you have here. So what's the deal with that door, I'm guessing some kind of death trap. But who knows, maybe you just happen to be giving out free cake?" He shrugs and walks a bit closer, hand reaching up to his sword as he walks through the door after waiting for a reply.
The man would give Tatsuya a glance but the rest of his facial features and body didn't seem to move an inch. Finally, he would begin speaking without showing any kind of emotion. "Doctor Isa simply wishes to be able to identify those who are capable from those who are not. It's for the sake of her work." Once walking through the door Tatsuya would find himself in a much smaller section of the large room, however, this part of the room would be roped off and mostly empty. It even seemed to have a way to get to the stage at the back of the room where the presentation was through a small gap in the ropes used to section the room off. However, blocking the gap off with their body was the man with the cyan hair and yellow eyes once again.
Well then, that one is a real stiff. Might even be a freaking robot or something for all Tatsu can tell at a glance. This room though, strange how it's so big and empty... Almost feels as though something is gonna happen. As he looks at the man once again, a sigh rushes forth. "Well then, is this the tired part where you try to kill me as a test or something? Not to say that I'd be angered. It's just so, drab one might say? Happens all the time so I can't really get worked up anymore." His blade flies from its place on his back, held forward as flames dance over the surface and almost leap towards the yellow-eyed man.
The man just stares back at Tatsuya without showing any other emotion. He would bring up one hand held towards Tatsuya, slowly raising his hand as if getting ready to fire off some kind of unheard of attack... Then he quickly would bring his hand to his face and put one finger of his mouth. Cyan-Haired Man: "Shhhhhhh...the presentation is about to start." With that the light would begin to dim as a woman in a lab coat with overgrown cyan hair would be seen in a spotlight. Doctor Isa: "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to thank you all for coming today but soon you may all be thanking me for today is the dawn of a new field of research. Research into another world itself! Imagine if you could travel to an alternate Shibuya with the same structure, the same history but have it be completely different at once. I'm speaking of course of a parallel world, something that for years I've been trying to reach and now finally I've found one! Today is the day that first hand I'll show the world exactly what this parallel world I've found is and how it's possible to reach it!"
The battle-hardened persona user is... Dumbstruck, he was expecting some kind of attempt on his life only to be shushed. A request he'll comply with, for now, no sense in starting needless violence after all. Though, he still holds his blade as he listens in to the little show. "Another world huh, not exactly anything entirely new to me given... Well, that whole thing was a mess so best not to dwell on it. Heh, wonder if this other world is anything like the one I left behind though?" Can't help thinking of it, after all, the end of the world doesn't come in most people's lives or at least not that they know of. But here he stands, having lived through just that and come from another time and place. And now people are claiming they can do the same as a god such as Philemon, with human tech? "Even if it's not the same, dealing in parallel worlds has always struck me as impossible for humans so I'm curious to see how this goes..."
The man still seemed to show no reaction as he stared at Tatsuya. He seemed to be listening but it was hard to tell in actuality because of his odd mannerisms. A large metal cylinder was brought onto the stage by a few workers wearing all black. They'd quickly leave as if terrified of something as the doctor began gesturing to the device as if to show it off. Doctor Isa: "This is a device that I have spent six long years wiring to be able to reach the specific world that I've pinpointed. Now with it finally completed we'll finally be able to see the first glimpse of this new world! All I need is a volunteer who would be capable of surviving in case this world isn't quite so...friendly. Hmmm, the special section I organised to find volunteers is looking pretty empty. Perhaps I should just send one of the stagehands through after all..." The man would look up towards the woman and then back to Tatsuya. Cyan-Haired Man: "Oh, mother is at it again. At this rate, she might actually do it. Poor soul, no telling what might happen to them."
Christ almighty, why does he get the sense that walking into some world of madness is a horrible awful idea that he can't possibly stop himself from committing to anyways. "Gah, I guess that I haven't really got a choice about this huh... Wish me luck ya emotionless shadow looking guy!" He walks out onto the stage, rubbing the back of his neck and holding the blade in his other hand as he grins at this doctor. "Hiya Doc, so you need someone who doesn't die too easy right? I guess I fit the bill well enough, and it's been a few months since I've done anything life threatening so hey count me in." Despite the sardonic speech, he's just a bit concerned by this whole thing. Not that it would show through the poker face smile on Tatsuya's face as he casually flicks his lighter on. "Anyways, got important info before tossing me into some kinda hell dimension or is this a 'learn as you go' sort of deathtrap?"
Doctor Isa would seem to be beaming with joy with such a willing volunteer. Doctor Isa: "Oh good, I was worried we'd have to send someone much less competent to do the job. We know virtually nothing about the other world aside from that you'll definitely end up somewhere in an alternate Shibuya. There will probably be some species of animals we haven't seen before since if my theory is correct even evolution would have occurred differently. All I can really guarantee is that there will definitely be humans. Now if you'd just step in the device we'll begin the transportation process immediately." The metal cylinder would open up on one side revealing an oddly cushioned looking interior that even had a couch-like bench to sit on.
Tch, whole thing gives him a bad taste in his mouth. The image of a tall horned demon forming in his mind as the man walks into this transporter. "Swear to god, if this pulls some 'The Fly' bullshit on me I'm gonna be pissed Doc. Anyways, let's go ahead and get it over with." Despite the couch, Tatsuya is far more at home standing up with his sword at the ready. Sighing as he wonders what exactly the mess he's gotten himself into might become. "Go ahead I guess, not like I had anywhere else to be tonight."
With that the doors to the machine would close as if trying to commit Tatsuya to his choice regardless of whether he might change his mind or not. The room would be silent and dark for a moment as if not even powered on but the outside of the machine suddenly we seem quiet as if everything had gone silent. It would take a few moments but the machine would begin moving around as if being shaken. It almost seemed like people were simply shaking the machine from the outside like a sort of elaborate prank but the shaking quickly began to feel as if the machine itself was doing flips while free falling. Despite any feeling of dropping though gravity would seem to remain fully in effect within the device. Finally, with a loud clang that sounded like the machine hitting the ground hard, it would stop. The outside of the machine was still silent for a moment until finally, the doors opened. Outside of the machine was Shibuya with the same appearance it always had but nobody was out on the streets.
As the machine begins to shake, he almost laughs at the absurdly silly sound of it... Till force is picked up anyway, at that point his eyes go dead serious and he prepares for the worst. At the least though, it didn't kill him so that's good. Upon looking out, he notices he's alone once again but for some reason doubts it'll stay quiet for long. The whole place gives a bad feeling, and as the man steps forth onto the streets of Shibuya he looks around silently, not trusting that whatever might live in this city won't attack him if a sound is made. Assuming that nothing happened so far, he'd keep walking down and aim to look into the buildings of this disturbingly empty city. Still moving quietly as the flames on his blade die in an instant, hoping to minimize attention he might gather.
As Tatsuya continued walking through the city he'd notice that there was absolutely nobody around. It was dead silent as well as if the whole city was just empty. Some of the windows of the buildings were slightly cracked but aside from that, the city looked as if it had still been being maintained. Suddenly, the sound of a single gunshot could be heard followed by what seemed to be a cloud of smoke in the distance. The area in that direction felt noticeably hotter than before but was already beginning to return to normal.
Cracked windows and the sound of silence huh, things could be better in this place to be sur but at leas- His thoughts are cut short, the gunshot ringing in Tatsuya's ears as he rushes off towards it. If he found the place or not, he'd crouch down low and move quietly while putting his blade away. Silver revolver taking shape in his hands in place of the blade.
Tatsuya would find what seemed to be a pool of molten asphalt where the smoke was originating from. It was already starting to cool and solidify but in front of the pool was the corpse of a young looking girl in an odd high-tech looking armour of sorts. It was easy to tell she had just been killed, a bullet hole being visible right on her forehead. The oddest part about her was that her skin wasn't quite right. It was a greyish colour and her still open eyes matched with their own grey hue. The only thing about her that seemed to have colour was her red hair. Nearby was a similar looking boy except with blue hair. He was behind what seemed to be a wall of ice and shivering intensely. Aside from his apparent fear his eyes would seem dead, especially as he looked at the corpse of the girl.
Well, that's not exactly a fun sight to greet him. Granted, he had expected things to be bad here but not this bad. Still, she's rather strange looking and not just because of the Sci-Fi armor either. Raises the question of if this kid was human or some sort of demon... Colorless, save for the hair. And the other one is just the same, hiding behind some kind of wall. He's a bit worried over what the response might be, but... "Oi kid, what exactly happened here? I'm just... A traveler looking around is all, so I'm not too up to date on what's been going down in this city as of late."
The second Tatsuya began speaking the air seemed to grow stiff. Suddenly, it seemed to latch onto the boy from over where Tatsuya was. The solid air was vibrating wildly as it latched on and held him still. Even his eyes couldn't seem to move to change his line of sight as the air held onto him tightly shaking his still body. A gunshot could be heard as a bullet was somehow able to fire straight through the ice wall and land directly on the boy's head. The solid air would seem to lose its grasp rather than simply being released. If Tatsuya looked in the direction of the gunfire he'd see a black figure sitting on top of one of the buildings. His position would have looked odd even from this distance. Despite clearly using a sniper rifle he didn't even seem to try to be aiming properly. Despite all that had happened though, Tatsuya might notice that until recently there was something watching him close by but it seemingly disappeared as soon as it arrived.
Well then, things have gotten slightly worrying at this point. Wonder if that thing is an actual rifle firing bullets or... Well, who can say in this case, but he's got enough trouble without trying to take revenge for people he doesn't know. Even if the whole thing is fucked up. On the other hand, they are a clear threat that needs to be removed... Instead of moving towards the man, he'd focus for a moment and begin walking away. At the same time, the towering form of Lucifer takes shape off to the side floating in the air, it would rush at the sniper as Tatsuya moves away. Watching his persona rush at the foe and try to slice into the man with tendrils of darkness rushing off its back and aiming to stab into it. The summoner himself, however, is long gone from the area directly near this gunman, only absently watching it up in the air as he whirls around in a circle. Trying to spot the presence of something watching him, even as it vanishes...
Lucifer would get far before the same solid air from before would begin forming around it, attempting to completely immobilize it, eyes and all. The figure on the distant building would freeze for a moment as if confused but just as quickly as with the others would pull out the weapon and fire without aiming. Despite not seeming to even try to use a scope the shot would be aimed right for Lucifer's head as if he knew what the Persona looked like even from this distance. Tatsuya wouldn't be able to spot anything watching him anymore, it was as if whatever it was had already been long since gone. Almost as it if was never there to begin with.
The Persona is, in fact, struck directly in the skull, that being said it simply recoils back and roars out in pain. Tatsuya shaking his head and sighing as he moves out, his own mystical gun flowing with energy as he gives it a command in a whisper. "Quiet, no flash." The weapon, as usual, does what it's told to. A bullet flying straight at the man on the rooftop, assuming he didn't move it would fly straight into his chest. Lucifer on the other hand, begins attacking once more despite being unable to move. Dark energy taking shape directly under the man's feet and aiming to slice into his legs, lashing out in the form of tendrils that would slice into his lower body if nothing were done. Tatsuya observes, absently firing off another shot that leaves no trace before moving on to another position to see what his foe does.
The bullet being as silent as it was would go unnoticed and hit the figure directly in the chest. There would be an audible cracking noise before the bullet fell to the ground but it seems something was broken. They would seem to look around confused for a moment as if something wasn't right. The grip on Lucifer would begin to tighten even more as if growing stronger. The figure themselves would choose to jump away from the tendrils as if aware of their presence without even looking. It seemed as though their breathing was growing heavy as they tried to escape down a staircase on the rooftop.
Lucifer vanishes, but not before a white-hot blast of almighty energy rushes straight at the building, tearing up chunks of the place and flying towards around where Tatsuya's foe had run off to. No telling if it hits or not, but it should at least scare him a bit more if nothing else. The persona user utters a whisper. "Come forth, Satan." High up in the sky above the building, another demon takes shape, many wings and arms on its body as the thing flies above waiting to try and spot the foe. If it did, the thing would draw forth a set of powerful cannons, blasts of physical force flying straight towards the man even as Tatsu attempts to get closer unseen.
The blast would tear the building apart revealing that it was now empty with one of the windows already having been broken. The figure had jumped out of the window and begun scraping themselves off the ground. They knew they didn't have time to wait around though and had already begun trying to run away with the buildings as their cover. "This wasn't my mission... Two Subjects from the destruction branch to be discarded for rebellion. They were both supposed to only posses energy-based abilities. I can't handle a power type. They should have sent someone else for that." Finally, the figure could no longer stop running. He sprained his legs from the jump from before and he knew at least one of his ribs must be cracked. It would heal fast but not fast enough, he had used up too much energy before. He sat where he thought he'd be safe, in an alleyway several meters away from the previous buildings but he was unaware of Tatsuya's position. He would only know where Satan was flying up above.
Right then, maybe this has gone far enough... That one seems to be talking so perhaps he doesn't want to die? And upon getting a bit closer, looks like... Still, can't be trusted without some leverage. Satan rushes forward, cannons blasting away though mostly aiming for arms and legs, shooting to hurt rather than kill and even sending some wide as Tatsu creeps closer. Assuming he got next to his foe, he'd place the gun right up to their head and begin speaking as his Persona watches closely. "Hi there, well you sure are a decent assassin aren't you. Anyways, if you aren't too keen on this whole dying thing I can help with that, as long as you'll give me some info anyways. So what'll it be? And don't try anything, unless you think you can defend against a point blank 50 cal revolver to the skull and powerful magic at the same time with those wounds." He isn't bluffing either, if even the slightest hostile move were taken the enemy would find themselves faced with a bullet to the back of the skull and a blade of almighty energy rushing for their chest. If they complied, however, Tatsuya would sigh and begin asking a few questions. "Now, I feel like we got off on the wrong foot with the whole you killing people thing and me trying to kill you in case I was next. But hey, water under the bridge if you explain to me what the fuck happened to Tokyo and why you killed those two, my power is pretty good for fixing damage as well as causing it so just, be honest with me and I'll help out. What's to lose?"
THe blasts would hit the boy's arms and legs breaking the army he was wearing to protect himself to pieces. It was clear the blasts also ended up breaking his legs but his arms were mostly just bruised thanks to the armour. "You don't have to yell so loudly, I can see you from a mile away with that...Also, I'm not trained in close quarters combat. They wouldn't be so stupid as to give someone like me that kind of advantage." He was a boy only a little older than the kids from before. He had the same monotone skin and eyes but his hair didn't have any colour like theirs. It was grey just like the rest of his body. The most curious attribute was a strange headset over his ears but it didn't seem to be connected to a radio but rather a microphone of sorts on his collar. "If I answer your questions and they find out I gave information to the enemy I'll be discarded just like they were and if I don't do as you say then you'll just kill me. Not much of a choice but I'm used to that. I'm sorry, I don't know what a Tokyo is. I've heard the term before but it means nothing to me. As for why I killed them, it was what I was told to do. Escaped Destruction subjects are dangerous, those two already slaughtered 14 humans from their facility before reaching this point. Even harming one person is a death sentence for subjects. They would discard one of us for simply having an ability that's hard to keep restricted. I would know, I've heard them talk about me that way."
A collar... Jesus Christ what are these people doing, fuck it screw this place hopefully that damned machine has a return option. "Right then, it's obvious to me I've mad a major miscalculation about you. And fuck's sake kid don't make me regret what I'm about to do, come out Lakshmi, Diarahan." The demon vanishes in an instant, replaced by a tall woman in a dancer's outfit. As she waves her hands over the boy he'd feel his body knitting itself up, painfully to be sure but nevertheless, the mystical power does heal him. The Persona vanishing as its master sighs and begins walking off for the area he'd come from. "Look, I don't know about this world or anything but I'm not from around here. Stay if you want, or you can try and find a way to get out. I won't blame you if you don't trust me, but I'm kind of big on people being able to live their own lives so despite the... Poor start, I'd like to try and help. You in or out?" Either way, he's in no mood to hang around here longer than needed. And if that damned machine can't get him back, he'll have to turn to the likes of gods and demons for aid... If they exist here that is. For now, check the machine.
