He he i now have a shiny pikachu, even if my starter is a pikachu Wat. I've only ever seen 1 legit (non red gyarados), and it was a horde battle, where it was 1 shiny mongoose inside 4 ekans. He died before I can save him.

And this counts from the time I started playing Pokemon, back when Red/Blue were new.

It reminds me of the first time my friend found Ho-Oh on the original Gold cart. It popped up, a shiny glow swirled around, and we marveled. It was legendary, It was unique, we were in awe. It wasn't until I caught up in my Silver kart that Lugia didn't have that, and we wondered if it was a specialty of the sun bird itself. It took a few years before we realized it was a fucking shiny Ho-oh.

I have had my fair share of shinies. When i first played Crystal my cousin left in a shiny feraligatr that i ported until white 2. The thing is for some reason it had pokèrus so people would constantly ask me to trade it. I got a shiny pikachu by chance in that game too, then some by chaining in sun such as a salandit (gonna cry it was male) a pichu and a cottonee. Then today i started shiny chaining for pikachu, around 74 a shiny caterpie spawned too but if i were to catch it my queue would be lifted so i let it run away....
