Thomas Jefferson is black. Clearly, this is a historical fact and not something did to appeal to a demographic that isn't even going to watch the damn thing in the first place.
Or the guy who played him was just the best for the role and the people making it never cared for historical accuracy in the first place. Probably the latter.
