Onset Of Oblivion
This will be part of a larger series so I recommend choosing a character you would want to use often Reports came in about various attacks throughout the nation. Places like Shinjuku, Ginza and Ueno were overrun by various monsters clad in a black goop. The media led the public to believe that the attacks were mere earthquakes, signs of seismic activity supported this as well. However, few perceptive individuals would notice something disturbing in the reports had they access to them. Nevertheless, many seismologists had believed the next attack to show up somewhere in the Shibuya 106 shopping mall. The areas reported to be attacked had sticky black substances scattered around, yet it was too soon after the attack for any further investigation and many who survived are too traumatized to talk about it.
A young woman with firey red hair takes up a self-assigned post near the food court. Its one of the more populated areas, and thus a good place to begin her watch so long as she's alone. For now, the woman drinks a cup of coffee as she waits, either for other interested parties who may recognize her, or this "earthquake". She had checked a few of the previous spots, enough to know that story was a clear fabrication, which meant for now her only lead on the subject was right here.
Unlike a few around here, the man concealed in a brown and gold hooded robe was unaware of the predictions. Rather, he was a mere traveler passing through. He kept walking along the storefronts yet never went in. He eventually stopped in front of an electronics store. He was practically hypnotized by the TV set to the news station playing in the window.

A fault begins to form in the middle of the mall walkway near various clothing stores, swallowing anyone nearby in. While dirt and rock also fell in the hole, it was apparently not empty. Black goop seeped in the crevice at the bottom of the pit, building up and forming into a giant black hand. It oozed it's way up towards the edge and grappled onto the stable mall ground, crushing the ground beneath it and slowly sinking it as well. Gaping maws formed all over the covered pit, each accompanied by bright yellow eyes which overlapped and shone together, forming a demented amalgamate. 5 more hands pop up at intervals and start dragging more of the ground into the chasm, and thus more civilians. Escape seemed futile as the pit stretched over the entire mall, front to back, in time.
The shaking ground forced the man to his hands and knees. He stared at the pit with wide eyes for a few seconds, then tore his gaze away to trace a shape on the store's window. A white circular outline about ten feet in diameter formed on the surface. Magical energy bloomed outwards to create a "window" to what appeared to be a temple. A white dragon with feathery wings dug one set of claws into the cracking mall ground and stuck its head out. All it took was a single gesture from the man for it to let loose a beam of light from its jaws at the shadowy hand that had been grasping nearby.
"I guess I shouldn't be surprised." The red-haired woman tosses her coffee to the side and takes a deep breath. It was pretty much her first time doing this willingly, all she has to do is focus on the other identity deep inside her, and let it out bit by bit. In moments, her body would be covered by a wood-like armor, which seems to grow from under her clothes, soon encasing her. Now that she's become more accustomed to it, Kali gets into a fighting stance. "Get behind me." she'd shout to the nearest civilians, admittedly her new, somewhat monstrous appearance might be a bit of a turn off, but mosst of them had better be smart to enough to let her help them not die. Now that she's ready, Kali would focus on the amalglam, and first creates a trio of whip-like vines which rapidly extend from her arm, before she whips it at the seemingly liquid substance, before sending a wave of ice through the tendril in order to freeze it, at least slowing it down for a while.

The light had seemingly tore a hole straight through the palm of the hand, but upon looking more black mass spread to it and caused it to swell in size, taking down more land with it. The ice had succeeding in freezing one the creatures, but that very same creature was quickly drowned out in an even greater swarm. Bone-like cone structures pierced some of the remaining ground. The ceiling as well was pierced by these teeth and debris began to fall from it. The same black substance the momsters were made of started leaking from cracks in the ceiling as well. The substance that in the pit began welling up, the creatures that made it up sprouted wings and arms. They flew through the air, matter trailing behind and bleow them as well as sticking to each other, making a slow frightening mass. Between all this, a teenage man in a hawaiian tee-shirt and jean shorts sat at one of the nearby tables sipping a smoothy. One could easily become entranced by his long, dark, wavy hair or his burly chest. One thing could be made abundantly clear about his attitude, however. He wasn't afraid of anything, or so it seemed. He muttered just loud enough for anyone in his vicinity to hear him "Well, let's see what you've got."
The man frowned and muttered something to the white beast. It roared and retreated back into the portal, the magical opening closing once it did so. The man began to run as a section of ground broke away nearby. He ducked into a store just before a hand broke the building's front wall. He traced a shape in the air again and whispered something that was drowned out by the rumbling outside. A winged serpent appeared out of the clouds this new, larger portal revealed. The man whistled to call the creature. He pulled himself onto its back and commanded it to fly upwards and away from the crumbling earth. If they met no resistance on the way up, they would hover to assess the damage.
Kali slowly backs up, her attention now focused primarily on the air-bound creatures as the ground slowly crumbles away in front of her. With there being so may creatures, focusing on one obviously wasn't going to help, so instead she charges up electricity which sparks and crackles as it grows between her wooden hands. "Lets see how you like this, monsters." before releasing it at the swarm of creatures, since they're like a liquid and currently looking to merge, the idea is for the electricity to surge through the batch and fry them in mid-air

The electricity served to take the flying monsters down a peg, causing most of them to fall back into the ground and melt back into their origin. The Dracomancer's survey revealed that the damage was both vast and widespread, as anyone could tell. A middle-aged man can be seen holding onto the edge of the remaining ground, his foot caught in the substance. It quickly forms into tendrils which wrap along the man's legs and slowly try to pull him down. A pair of hands grab the ground near Kali and pull up a large mass of the substance with them. A large blob formed between the two hands with a gaping maw in the middle and two hollow spheres where it would have had eyes. An army of similar yet smaller creatures start popping up all over the place as well. The one which had arisen first rapidly dragged itself along and regurgitated the black substance in a projectile trailing quickly towards Kali, spreading out to cover most of the area she was in. The other members had attempted to start wrecking stuff and grabbing things, pulling whatever they could into themselves and subsequently drowning them in the mar they were made out of. The man dressed for vacation stands up and walks in front of the massive invader after it had finished vomiting. "What, that's it? No action heroes? No explosions? I reckon there was a time when crap like this would be over in moments. Right now I doubt anyone here will make it out alive, without my help at least." He raises the palm of his right hand and suddenly a white mist falls over the monsters right in front of Kali, causing them to dissolve in thin air. The area right in front of the duo was completely clean but looking ahead there were still areas infected. "Honestly, do I have to do everything around here? I've got better things to do than to clean up after every little mess this world has to offer. I could really use some more heroes to help out around here."
The Dracomancer quietly observed the chaos from up above. The oddly-dressed man below had some method of stopping those creatures, but with what magic he had no idea. "Ketsal. Breath." The winged serpent screeched and opened its jaws. A tornado spiraled down as dragon and rider descended. If all went well, the path would be cleared of any remaining flying creatures, allowing the two to get closer to Kali and the man.
"way too many." Kali takes a few steps back as the tar-like substance creeps forward, before focusing her power on the ice once again, this time rather than aiming at the substance she'd simply make a barrier to prevent it from getting to her or those behind her... At least util she finds it disappearing and a new person striding into the area. He was obviously helping, that couldn't be denied, but she can't help but despise the smug look he has while doing it "Don't patronize me. Whatever you're doing keep doing it, we can talk once we're done, for now lets split up." With the immediate threat dealt with, Kali would head towards the enemies on her left, kicking through the small barrier she'd made earlier. This ice didn't seem to be particularly effective, so she'd focus on using electricity, charging up another blast for the nearest swarm.

I'm gonna be out of town for awhile for a funeral so expect daily updates on average. "Suit yourself. If you really wanna rid the world of this menance, help me figure out someway to get to the roof. As powerful as I am, flying is not in my repitoire and by the time it would take to scale the building it would be entirely down under." More flying monsters rise up, accompanied by a platoon of the large grounded ones. They all march towards the group, appearing to be more aggressive and faster than before. Purple embers flicker from the mouths of the flyers, magical spheres of lightless explosive fires roar up out of them and fall down all over the area in a destructive barrage. The stranger snaps his fingers, a mist permeating in front of him in the form of a fine-crafted medieval shield. Upon contact, the balls would disolve peacefully into a white haze. Meaning that only the balls which struck to the side of him would hit, leaving the spreading fires as a remaining threat. Cracks start to form in the ceiling, more black goop and debris falling out.
Ketsal roared and thrashed around as the spheres hit its long body. The Dracomancer sucked in a breath when a sphere struck his cloak, but whispered something to calm his ride down. The winged serpent coiled up on the ground and the Dracomancer extended his hand to the man. Flight was not an issue. Getting up there was... although their new passenger might lessen the danger.
