Actual discussion about mods
I've seen the topic pop up, so I figured I'd say my piece on the matter. I can't say I have any experience running a site, but I've seen enough go downhill because of bad mods. This isn't me Saying Inari, or anyone else that was mentioned would make a bad mod, I'm just saying that being one is a big responsibility. The choice comes down to Mishima in the end, but I think we should really consider who would make a good moderator before we go throwing out suggestions.

(I am flattered that I was mentioned though.)
Considering the time I spend IRL vs time on the phansite (10:90) Id consider myself pretty good
Yeah I've seen enough mods to know making people one to fast isn't a great idea.

That being said I'm not sure we even need more for now.

Mishima and Joker are doing a fine job and it is a small site.
@Tatsuya
Yeah, our userbase is still fairly small at the moment. I really don't think another will hurt per se, but it migh be a bit gratuitous.

@Inari
I mean, I've shrugged off irl friends to be on here; I even did last night while I was editing the wiki. That doesn't necessarily mean I'd be an ideal moderator. We need to slow down for a second and think if having another mod is really needed right now.
OR an IHOP in every forum page
Yeah, put an IHOP in every single thread. In evey househould, actually.
I'm trying to avoid commenting on theses topics, because quite frankly, I don't need the backlash of "Biased mod is biased", but Tatsuya has a point.

As it stands, we don't even have a user panel, and what I can and can't do is outside conventional means for a regular mod. (Take that for what you will)

Trust me when I say Mishima is pay attention, but these user made "Should I be a mod!" threads are doing no one any favors.

Feel free to have fun with it, but just remember: have fun with it.
Why though
I agree with a lot of this thread. If it's just a fun meme/fad, then it will blow over soon. Things happen fast on here.
If it is serious, then there needs to be some waiting involved. We cannot just jump on a bandwagon and think what will come out in the end will be good.
Moderation is hard work and a big responsibility. Sometimes freedom will be locked to you once you step in those shoes.
I'm sure things will turn alright though. I hope.
I honestly thought the whole "IHOP in every forum page" was a dead giveaway
Denny's is better.
O U T
That's right.

Anyone who gets modded by asking for it usually doesn't do too well, in my experience.

I think it'd be better if we just hold off on making any more moderators for now. We need to slow down and wait for things to stabilize first.
I like Waffle House best, Dem hash browns.
Biased everyone is biased
Not sure if Jimmy's Egg is just a middwest thing, but HNNNNNNNNGGGGG
i prefer wild duck burger
I don't like fast food... Sorry everyone!
There's not exactly a need for a load of mods, the rules aren't very restrictive so someone would have to go out of their way to break them, which nobody is doing.
Unless Shitposting is made against the rules. In which case we'd need everyone as a mod.
R e d l o b s t e r I n e v e r y f o r u m
F u c k o f f t h e s h a c k i s b e t t e r
Skull if Skull were against the rules we'd need to close the site forever.
What the fuck
I'll be looking for another mod soon, Joker and I aren't able to watch the forum 24/7, and I'd rather develop new features when I have time for phansite rather than moderate stuff.

If someone turns out to be a good candidate I'll contact them myself, I'm keeping an eye on you all :P
I think I'm too young to be trusted. Just sayin.
@Mako-chan you are never too young to be trusted!
Well I feel like being a mod would take the fun out of talking to people on the forum. I would feel weird
@Mako-chan nah! I mean look at Joker, he is a great example of a mod! A friendly, kind-hearted, sweet little mod, who wants nothing else but justice~!
Yeah, Joker still seems to be able to be a cheeky little guy even while being a mod
I just want Mishima to pull a fast one on us and promote someone nobody mentioned
Mishima's always watching us.

ALLLLLLLWAYYYYYYYSSSSS WATCHINGGGGGGGGGGGGG
This place is thriving on nonsense atm, kinda curious about where the line between that and spam is gonna be drawn tbh.
Mishima will probably end up promoting the frog that shows up from time to time
The frog seems decently reliable
The line between nonsense and spam is drawn? idk i think its pretty easy to tell the difference between our usual nonsense and actual genuine spam
TBF the rules already do draw a line, but it's pretty much "obvious spam" where it's the same message in a bunch of threads.
Mmm...I mostly mean about irrelevant posts and stuff. Considering some topics that have come up so far I don't think it'd be that easy, at least for any member that'd be new or something.
@Hazama
Of course I can still be cheeky lol. I've had mod experiance for well over a decade.

But seriously though, things do change when you become a mod. It goes from fun loving lulz, to a real weight.

It's not recommended to those who just wanna have fun, or are not ready.
@MonasWaifu There's difference between shitposting and spam.
I'm going to assume that Kobayakawa account earlier today crossed that line. Since all he did was post "I'm still dead" in random threads.
Yeah I made a joke about it but just sayin for real here
i dont think i would have ever been considered but idk wanna be a mod lol
i dont wanna have people actually expect something of me pffft
But Batman has high expectations of everyone
@Mishima Not on most forums but I guess this isn't most forums <3

I don't have anything against it myself anyway, sorry if anyone took it like that.
An individual that is chosen for moderation must not only have a clear mind and understanding of the rules, but knowledge of a moderator's duty in a community. Consider the word's etymology (one who makes moderate) and the necessary sacrifices authority requires for an individual. That is, in tandem with knowledge of their duty, an individual who accepts the loss of behavioral freedom in a contract granting power to keep rules from becoming obsolete, "moderate" denoting prevention of draconian or anarchist transformation of the rules.

Of course, a moderator must also remember they are a tool for the community's excellence, lest the forum desires atavism as some sort of return to form, thus making any newly appointed authority meaningless. It'd likely be easier for this community, with a basis in GameFAQs, to know what a moderator who thinks the community serves them rather than vice-versa looks like.
I forgot to mention objectivity/impartiality to the rules and cases pertaining to members are vital for any moderator. A clear definition of the rules must be the first priority else the moderator would be more help/less damage not being given the responsibility of enforcing them.
Damn well put Hifumi.
you can always expect quality posts from hifumi!!
