An Analogy of Narcissus- Better understanding our next foe.
In Greek mythology, Narcissus (/nɑːrˈsɪsəs/; Greek: Νάρκισσος, Nárkissos) was a hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. He was the son of the river god Cephissus and nymph Liriope.[1] He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis noticed this behavior and attracted Narcissus to a pool, where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus lost his will to live. He stared at his reflection until he died. Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a fixation with oneself and one's physical appearance and/or public perception.
Several versions of the myth have survived from ancient sources. The classic version is by Ovid, found in book 3 of his Metamorphoses (completed 8 AD); this is the story of Echo and Narcissus. One day Narcissus was walking in the woods when Echo, an Oread (mountain nymph) saw him, fell deeply in love, and followed him. Narcissus sensed he was being followed and shouted "Who's there?". Echo repeated "Who's there?" She eventually revealed her identity and attempted to embrace him. He stepped away and told her to leave him alone. She was heartbroken and spent the rest of her life in lonely glens until nothing but an echo sound remained of her. Nemesis (as an aspect of Aphrodite), the goddess of revenge, learned of this story and decided to punish Narcissus. She lured him to a pool where he saw his own reflection. He did not realize it was only an image and fell in love with it. He eventually realized that his love could not be reciprocated and committed suicide.
Not sure what this has to do with exploiting our enemy, but i dig it!
Wikipedia?
My thoughts are that this will better help us understand him, and figure out his weaknesses.
@-Mishima-

Yep.
I step out for two hours and you guys go and anger a god smh
His weaknesses being himself?
You have to turn down his vanity, make him feel ugly
Unwanted and disliked as well by the many people
Also on the MegaTen side of things. http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Narcissus

Load up on fire Personas, Yu, Tatsu and Minato.
@hazama

Read through the Cheshire Ciphers thread.
Hey now Hazama this one kinda just appeared we can't be blamed for it's anger.
@-Mishima- so... Insulting him?
@-Mishima-

That could easily lead a person to becoming vain. He most likely grew sick of the world, and figured if no one else loved him, he would love himself.

It's almost pitiful.
Pfft load up? If I'm somehow here for it I have frigging Apollo.
I've read all of his original myths i believe this is how someone once defeated him
@Migrant

I've got Ippon-Datara, so I'm pretty much set.
The user of the account could also be unlearned or too unintelligent to create such esoteric analogues and may have just chosen Narcissus with the reasoning "isn't this the guy who was really narcissistic?" plus the typical Persona antagonist tone.
Also true. But as I've been saying, only time will tell.
Something tells me if he made that many ciphers he's done his homework on Narcissus (and if he hadn't he has now by reading this).
That's quite possible. Maybe the user saw the buzz that surrounded the Thotiah thing and wanted to get in on that.

Then again, they did make those ciphers correct? Maybe they're smarter than we're giving them credit for.
Opinion: just use a mirror?

or an "attack mirror" like the item get it

hha

....
Either way, he has everything he needs.
we just have to use it against him.
Precisely.
But how? We only have so much power and we still don't fully understand how the vessels of vanity will act.
maybe
we can use the vessels of vanity by making them believe that we are as good, or greater than narcissus, or that narcissus is lesser than they are. If we can make the vessels believe in us, then we can be able to use the mind of narcissus against himself!
Feeding into their own vanity by making them believe to be greater than a god.

Very smart.
@Ari3s
aaa thanks! but since this is all conjecture, we don't know if Narcissus is going to split his own mind into these "vessels" or if they will be sentient.
That's also true..
In the event that it is the former, it will be significantly harder to fool the vessels. I just hope i can be useful if that is the case...
I'm sure you'll find a way.

And you've been more than usefull enough thus far.
Does anyone know how to fool a [basically] god? In the original myth, his reflection was all that was needed in order to put him into a downward spiral, but I expect that this battle will need more than just a pool of water.

any ideas?
Bring some magic mirrors, duh
@pixie
probably
What if we all dress up like him?
How does a god even dress?
tall?
True, in his case it's basically nothing.
Maybe we can become imposters of the vessels, like Lnari and Inari.
MOTHMAN IS GREEK MYTHOLOGY
Maybe we could send someone to become his vessel as a little test of his abilities.
I vote REAL_MOTHMAN for that.
@Migrant
god no don't encourage him,
I also vote REAL_MOTHMAN for this role.
Yep Real_Mothman would be the best sacrifice
whoops misunderstanding
YES SACRIFICE FUCKING MOTHMAN.
