OOC: Lore, Nexus Theory
OOC: The way I see it, the nexus is, like momentos, the Tartarus, and The TV world, connected to the Collective Unconcious and works similer to Castle Oblivion. The locations in Nexus aren't the REAL locations, just copies of the locations created from memories of the real location, by those who know of the location, i.e. Lablanc is created by Boss' cognition and shaped to how he remembers Lablanc, to go to Lablanc you just think "I gonna go to Lablanc!" and no matter which direction you head in you'll find yourself at Lablanc.


Locations only exist when someone is there to observe they exist, i.e. which threads are active at the time, Everytime a new thread is created a new location is created or recalled by those who remember it.

Locations are created by one, and visited by many, when everyone goes away, that location ceases to exist until someone revisits it again.

(Trying to describe it like a mix between the previously mentioned persona dungeons/Castle Oblivion and fit the nature of being a forum into one cohesive idea, What's you guys' opinion of my theory?)

There was a thread earlier about how the nexus worked, but nothing was decided upon, Figured it was important to establish it for the lore. So I worked up an idea.

The nature of reality one experiences consists not of independent platonic concepts, but representations of what is later compressed into linguistic units. Reality among a community, then, is formed only of contracts made in good faith, as the communicable (and thus referred) form of a representation in a contract is preceded by its perceived representation.

Consider as well the basis of all ideas in the universe not as we word it but as we perceive it. Lovecraft desired creatures minimally native to the human mind, but Spinoza's nature of the universe as a single substance rules with an iron fist, so even Lovecraft's creatures are wholly human in all forms. Because all ideas consist of the same matter what is often dubbed reality consists of, they are no subsequently no different and, thus, LeBlanc and all nexus are real.

Hmm. in short, she's dishing out linguistics stuff. well, part of it is what's in my course notes anyway =D

But in short, we percieve the world through the words we can use.
As an example, in french we have a large variety of words for rain, it is quite common here for us after all.
In contrast, we only have one word for snow.

The eskimau on the other hand don't know what rain is. However they have about 20 ish words to say snow.

The reality they live in molded their language, and vice virsa. thus, this forum is nothing but whatever we see fit for it to be, choosing the words that will form it's shape.

I don't know nearly enough about spinoza to comment on that though. sorry
But if I had to guess, I'd say he's probably a naturalist right? writing stuff in great detail and making sure it's all as realistic as possible ?

@HifumiTogo, I only somewhat understood the second paragragh but... I think I get the gist of what you're sayin. Basically, reality only exists because we observe it exists right, or did I completely miss the point?

It's philosophy before linguistics. Investigation of one's tools that they use to experience the world is an apt question to ask and I am investigating our linguistic faculties. Wittgenstein is often cited in the discipline of linguistics because, though he was not a linguist, he investigated the role of linguistics often in his philosophy. My point was actually that reality precedes linguistics. Your eye sees the representation of a book, but to rationalize and transfer the essence of the book unto others, you must taint its purity through speech.

I actually like this theory quite a bit. It doesn't account for how OOC knowledge often bleeds into IC stuff but meh that's not going to happen.
