Persona 1 Appreciation Thread
I appreciate Persona 1. This is a thread for that.

For real though I wanna know what others think about Persona 1, cuz I kinda enjoy it a lot and I've replayed it a couple times but it's always so ignored, I mean I kinda get why but still.

Also Elly best girl.
Elly is BEST girl for sure, but SSQ made me want to kill myself, but the game is not that bad.
It was fun to play for me, i only played once, i didn't care about the characters and Inaba annoyed me, just his design...I didn't like it, but as a game i appreciate it because without it, none of the others would be here
Oh SSQ is the worst, I hate it. I appreciate the game including a second route but aside from Yukino I see no fucking point in going that route.
I like the characters of 1 I just hate the way the party works.
Yeah... SSQ is like suicidal, i didn't even finish it, i stopped at the final boss, because the labyrinth was a nightmare.
SSQ was terrible glad we can all agree
I've played P1 a few times but never finished SSQ, I think I got like halfway but quit. I know people don't like it but I find 1 fun... in SEBEC only. Fuck SSQ.
It's a pain in the ass and a waste of time. I wish they didn't make Yukino only available in SSQ, because like everyone else can participate in SEBEC (though it may take several plays).
Persona 1 Remake in Persona 5's engine when ATLUS
Persona 1 remake sounds... Kinda cool tbh. I would buy/play it.
P1 is also the only other game where everyone has melee weapons AND guns so hey P5s engine is already partway there
dumbass me just realized there was a Persona tag I should have put this under instead
bump please talk to me about P1
Did someone mention appreciating Persona 1 without me?

As my first real experience with the series P1 will always have a special place in my heart. I've played through both routes, enjoyed the characters and love the overabundance of status conditions. When can we bring back Happy, Guilt, and Unlucky? I like that there's actually too many damage types for it's own good (every party member's melee weapon is a different damage type besides main character and Elly who share short swords, and there's like 4 types of guns) and while negotiation is more entertaining in P2 (group negotiation is amazing. Bring it back Atlus) some of the options can't help but bring a smile to my face thinking back on them.

While the remake is the way to play the game without fail, it misses some of the charm and atmosphere that the original on the PS1 had. Little extra pieces of music during negotiation when Masao danced (a song for each one) or the MC decided to sing (again, a difeent one for each) and the missing music that added to the overall experience to the game (The awakening track, the pre boss battle dialogue music, etc...). Between the two versions there's a lot to appreciate in my eyes and a full on remake (grid system included because I have to have at least one unpopular opinion) would be Atlus answering my prayers.
I admit I hate the grid system, it's a bit obnoxious and while I'm glad they got rid of it, I would like it if they at least made it less terrible.

I kinda also hate to say it but I hate the original PS1 OST all the songs sound too boring and standard for me... The PSP OST doesn't always fit admittedly but I like the kind of... surreal atmosphere it lends the game.
I don't expect anyone to really like the grid system, but it still doesn't seem that bad to me. Maki is OP though with it. Sh'll always hit all enemies and take all the EXP from the group, and Masao and I think Hidehiko have a hard time doing much with basic attacks without hindering the other members. I made a good formation that allowed what I believe to be the best distribution of grid space in both routes. It certainly can be a pain, but I would love another take on it to make it more accessible to players.

A surprising amount of people to me share your opinion on the music Hibiki. I like both OSTs for different reasons (and have both on my laptop) and have some favorites between the two that I'd want to see in a remake (School Days is my jam, the original "Persona" track used as the opening is so eerie and mood setting, etc...). If we got a full on recreation with better everything I'd want OST options like in P2.
I haven't anything from this thread. I just wanted to say that pierced boy is super cool and i like him way more than any other protag. I want more of him.
Really? Most people I see seem to like the remake music but don't think it fits the game, and prefer the original.
Personally I prefer it because with the setting it creates more of a surreal atmosphere, rather than just one so... dark. It makes the experience unique.
Also; Let Butterflies Spread Until the Dawn.
I love Yumi's voice so much, so I immensely enjoyed all the songs she did for the PA port. One of my friends finds Bloody Destiny to be one of his favorite boss battle themes of all time.

There's really not that many new songs, just a lot of cut tracks that didn't get remastered. If more of the original OST had gotten remastered like in P2 with the new opening, battle theme and such the split between the fans about the OST would be much smaller.

As for the atmosphere, I personally prefer the darker tone the first OST delivers. Really drives the fact that this spawned from a series where you kill gods for the sake of humanity. For a remake i think a more surreal atmosphere would fit better to illustrate what the series has grown into.

That's all I can really add.
see Migrant gets ir
I like that song. Not sure if you do.
This is a good thread
Indeed let this thread thrive... eventually.
bumps because Persona 1 dammit
Never played... but I will appreciate the classics and the past for always.
Played it after playing persona 4 and I got kinda lost and bored.
crying
Snow Queen am I right fellas
Snow Queen Quest isn't even really that bad, and I had to go through Thanatos tower three times because that tower has the actual worst gimmick and I just bum rushed it because I was tired of losing Personas and going to Cerberus to get them back and try making my way all the way back up again. I only had issues on the hardest tower because it's the hardest tower. Doing a max totem run on the SQQ is stupid and I don't like that Atlus did that, but one I'll probably do it because I'm a psychopath sometimes.

Nyx also was a joke of a final boss to me and I actually unintentionally started her boss battle. I thought she'd be at the top of the school and went into a classroom thinking it'd have some items but nope, final boss of the route. I didn't buy guns for some stupid reason so I couldn't cheese the boss, but like I said, it still wasn't hard and I felt underleveled walking to the fight itself.

Basically, I'm weird and have the most unpopular opinions about P1 ever. I just want more people to play the game and like it a little.
@Delta-M oh no I wasn't implying it was bad if anything I prefer it over the main storyline and the school music on the PSP remake was just so God damn good
