I don't think the host club is as bad as leblanc in anyway honestly, dont act like it is

for real though leblanc is an issue imo
its so hectic that a lot of people seem to avoid it which leads to a good number of us not knowing whats ever going on
i for one would love to participate in some RPs but when its off with thousands of posts its super daunting to just walk in halfway through like whats up, it feels like playing Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories as your first game in the franchise
and rebooting the thread doesnt exactly lessen this issue, it almost feels like it worsens it sometimes

Except I have made several and barely anyone joins. I don't think a single RP thread I've made breaks 50 posts.

the leblanc threads give me flashbacks to how me and my friend irl meet up every other month to hang out but the only thing in our area is a museum so we literally go to the museum like 4-5 times a year since theres nothing else to do

Only issue with stuff like norway and sleepovers, and I brought this up on discord actually when we decided to step back on the Sins thing, is they tend to just devolve into "cuddle puddles" of romantic fluff that people without IC dates just ignore.

Well, and camping kinda got hijacked by a forest fire, but that's another matter entirely.

But no, he has a point. If we were to get rid of leblanc what would fill the void? It's an issue even those of us in the plot discord have been struggling to find an answer to. What is there people want besides cuddle puddles, plot, and leblanc?

Gummy Bear Factory sounds really dumb but man...I'm having fun reading it right now.
In the end, creating a RP thread that will actually survive is nothing but a gamble.

I honestly wanna see silly and fun dumb ideas turn into glorious ideas why go to a cafe and wait for it to explode when we can invite 20 persona users to a haunted house for a week long sleepover and see half of them try to fight the ghosts that dont actually exist

I have been trying to provide some more trope themed content on the site such as the reality store and host club. The issue for me though is the sheer volume of people coming in making it near impossible for me to make a unique experience.

I think that's why Leblanc works so well because it can handle so many people. My individual stuff just can't.

I'll try to provide more of my choice based stuff in the future but please recognize that it is kind of difficult for me to be inclusive in the process.

Honestly? Don't worry about it Mishimans, I was kinda venting too, I think all of us have issues with various things and it's a good idea to get them out I think .

if you ask me, i think you all are too focused on rp and not focused enough on the fact that behind all of your rp accounts, you are all actual people with actual lives who could form actual bonds with each other!!

what i mean is, there's almost no day to day discussion on the boards!! it's all been slowly overtaken by rp megathreads!! i don't think the answer to this problem is "remove/ban leblanc megathreads" or "spread all the rp into a bunch of smaller rp threads", but something more like "continue rping, but make an effort to make/post in threads unrelated to rp, as well"!!

i'm sure some people will probably disagree with me, and i don't have that much insight into the rp threads so i'm not sure if it's my place to be saying anything about it, but that's what i think!!

The reason Leblanc works is that it's not at all a personalized experience, I can feel where Mish is coming from as most people know, I often lead little side adventures and they can sometimes be derailed by just the mass of people all wanting to do different things. Leblanc, on the other hand, is as simple as walking in and ordering a coffee and people might talk to you and for those who get talked to, it's great and for those that don't, they hate it. At least that's how I'm seeing this situation.

To your point Pure, perhaps we have been talking too much using discord. We don't feel the need to talk on the threads anymore for that reason because we have bonded with each other over a different messaging format. I love the site but it is kind of an awful place to just casually talk at the moment.

Yeah I basically agree with Yu that is the greatness of Leblanc. It puts no pressure on a single person and it is able to handle multiple people. Creating survivable rp threads on this site is just plain difficult because it requires either allowing everyone in and losing control or being selective and having people dislike you.

If people really want Leblanc dead then they should stop posting in it, I personally have actually gotten a bit bored with it at the moment which is why I've been posting so many more threads.

Finally I think the reason why Leblanc is able to attract so many people is due to how general it is. Anyone can just continue it at any time they want. While more individual stuff such as my host club are limited to the GM constantly being active. Just to keep the reality shop alive I had to be on near constantly to revive it.

I think that's why Leblanc kind of creates dead zones. We as human beings only have a certain amount of time and no one wants to fully give up a day just to keep a thread alive constantly.

As someone with a history of MMOs, Leblanc is basically our gathering place.

It's like the town square for RP. Everyone who's not involved in a more intimate or specialized thing at the time can hang out there and periodically ships start to sail from there. Like a group going out on a shopping trip, or a date, or heading to a flying airship to interrogate Lightning.

And of course it's a very chaotic place as a result. Which is where it tends to go off the rails. See things like the plot creep with Hunter recently.

I'll try to create more personalized adventures for the site. I have been wanting to experiment some of my DM stuff here since I'm right not outright of a group.

I like the atmosphere LeBlanc has, but I should clarify that I really dislike constant roleplaying.

As pure-anon put it, everyone here has their own personalities when they're OOC and I really don't outright dislike anyone. (with maybe one or two exceptions,) It's so difficult to have actual discussions or chat, which is why I came to this site in the first place; especially with the site being absolutely flooded with RP threads. Don't get me wrong I don't have any problems with roleplaying, I'd just like to have a chance to get to know people rather than the character they play.

Nah, Haz. I used to think that RP mixing with OOC was part of the charm. But I think the OOC hype around the site has, quite honestly, crashed and burned hard now that most people are done with P5. And instead of a nice balance between OOC and RP, RP is now drowning out OOC entirely.

Filtering is nice, but seems like a half-fix. I'd honestly prefer to see outright an RP sub-forum.

That, or start another Keyblade War to reset the balance of IC and OOC I mean what I'm not Xehanort (I'm actually not).

i think an rp subforum would just cause more problems!! it creates a barrier of entry and re-entry between normal discussions and rp, which makes people way less likely to cross over into either one!!

the bulk of the site's activity also happens within rp threads, so people who come for general discussions will have the perception that the site is dead because they never check the rp side of the forum!! this'll just make more people end up leaving!!

i very strongly feel that cordoning rp and general discussion from each other will be a slow death sentence for the site!!

I think Discord contributed a lot to killing OOC threads personally since if most people wanna discuss something, there's how many servers available for it now? Shrugs

The reason I continued LeBlanc was because we are a persona themed forum, and because people liked the idea if a general chill out in character thread. I try to make it so it isn't the stem of plots. But I'm sorry I hurt the site in the process. I will stop

See, that reaction makes this problem a tough one to solve. I'm not saying RP is bad or not welcome, but it is getting somewhat gratuitous. Either we need more discussion or less RP, and I'm all for the first option.

I've struggled with ways to say this that wouldn't come off as me attacking certain RPers or attacking mods...

But I think at some point we do need to come up set of rules on what is and isn't allowed in RP.

Because I feel like every few weeks or so we get into this mucky area where it's like "well is non-Persona banned?" "Is RP going to be banned?" "Is plot banned?"

How do we even decide what is and is not plot, I mean everyone kind of has a different definition of that. It's not as if we can control every RPer.

Yeah more stuff to do together would be nice. But... we can't run into an issue like Gluttony's Heist where 20 people wanted to come along when the GM did not want to deal with more than like 6. Maybe we need more GMs, maybe we need more plots running at once, maybe we just need stuff like Leblanc.

Also I only bring up rules because I know that every time threads like this or Joker's warning show up there are RPers who get very concerned that they're about to get banned, and know there's non-RPers who talk about how the mods should go further.

Whatever happens happens. I'm burnt out from stuff irl, and I dont know what do about stuff here soooo. Whatever. Either way I'm not rezzing LeBlanc, won't make a new one, yada yada. I can't contribute much. I dont feel like I have a place in most discussion, as y'all would classify me as more casual fan, and my options would just get a "fuck off" rather than contribute to the discussion, and shitposting and memes aren't my thing. Either way, I'm tired now and hope some sort of happy medium can be found or whatever.
