Tis not so simple. A hollow is undead that has lost humanity, and humanity is purpose. Reason. If an undead accepts their fate when dying, they shall truly die. If an undead feels defeat and no purpose, they shall go hollow and live for nothing. But, I've talked enough of the curse. I shall go courting

It is very complicated. But at face value it's simple. The more an undead "dies" sometimes memories are lost. Purpose may also be lost, and that is hollowing. if truth is to be told, I have died so many times that I cannot remember the first. But my earliest memory of death was falling off a cliff when I misstepped fighting a hollow soldier
