At Least We Stole the Show

(You arrive on a peaceful open field. The sky above is bright blue and there is a little bit of heat lingering the air. Cicadas can be heard in the distance as thin clouds continue to cross the sky. Attached to two trees there is a banner stating " The Ene Shop Goodbye Party". Benaeth the banner lies tables decorated in blue tablecloth and covered with food. On the grass there are multiple blankets for people to sit on.)

(The owner of the shop is currently lying on one of the blankets and staring up at the sky.)

Things are kind of nice today...

*She closes her eye*

*he walks in, wincing a little as he leans on his staff. Upon seeing Ene, he breathes a sigh of relief, but tenses up shortly after*

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Are you doing ok now, Ene?

*Kalib walks through the field, breathing in the crisp summer air. A smile on his face. He notices the banner attached to the trees and sees Ene looking up to the sky. He walks over.*

Beautiful day out, isn't it?

*She sits up and waves at Gamma*

Yeah I'm doing much better now.

*She taps the side of her head and stick out her tongue*

No more head pain and all of that stuff!

*She then notices Gamma's wince*

I should be the one asking if your okay.

Ene

*She becomes tense*

H-Hey Kalib!

*She nervously laughs*

It is pretty nice outside....

I made the perfect day for my shop's closing.

*he starts to laugh, but is soon cut off*

No need to worry about me Ene, I'm glad you're alright. That's what really matters. Though its kinda sad to see the shop go, maybe its for the best.

*noticing Klib, he looks at him for a moment, then shrugs*
Oh, you're here too. Well, I guess you've got the same right to be here as any of us.

Ene

*She looks sadly at the field*

Yeah I'm kind of sad about the shop closing.

*She tries to smile*

But It really is for the best since i'm not good enough to run it anymore.

*Kalib reaches forward for a handshake.*

*He gets there with his hands inside his pockets, his face expresses nonthing, but tiredness. As he approaches the group, he waves at everyone with a smile on his face.*

Hello guys, how are you all today?

*He then turns to Ene*

You feeling okay now? I mean, with someone like Kalib by your side it's not really a surprise if that's the case.

*he ignores Klib and instead focuses on Ene*

You're being ridiculous. I mean, you own the place, you made it. There's no one more capable of running it than you are. What's the real reason you're considering closing it? I mean... You do want to close, right? No one is making you do it?

*She looks at Kaz with a smirk*

I'm feeling better then ever!

*She yawns*

Feeling a bit sleepy though.

*Kalib retracts his hand and sighs. Turning back to Ene.*

Why do you think you aren't good enough? 'Cause you know for a fact that nobody else thinks that's the case right?

*She frantically waves her hands at Gamma's suggestion*

No one is forcing me to close my shop or anything.

*She looks bashful*

I just don't think I am capable or running such an operation anymore. I'm sure someone better will come by and play the same role alter.

*he sighs, looking a little relieved, but quickly regains his composure*

Good. I don't like your reasons, there's no one who could do something as well as you. But as long as they're your own. Well I hope you'll still stick around.

*She looks down at her feet*

Look guys I just can't handle running a shop anymore.

*She sighs*

I lack any sense of responsibility and i'm prone to too many mistakes.

*She grows silent at Gamma's comment*

*She lays back down on the blanket and stares at the sky in thought*

*He stretches his body for a moment, and lets out a sighs of relief, before letting himself fall backwards on the grass.*

Mission accomplished then...!

*Kalib laughs as he sits on the grass.*

And nobody could ever replace the shop Ene, but if it's too much for you, then that's fine.

*She gives Kaz a side look*

But your mission isn't really accomplished since you left the justice guy behind.

*he looks down for a moment, and ultimately decides to turn to Ene with a grin*

Responsibility is for losers. If the problem is that its stressing you out, you should just say so. But don't worry about screwing up. If you don't make mistakes, you'll never improve, and become even more perfect.

*Her eyes start to get a little wet*

Yeah my shop was good wasn't it?

*She sniffles*

I just wish I could have done more with it.

*A figure watches Ene and Gamma from a distance*

*Her cheeks become wet as individual tears begin to pour*

*Her hands rest limp on the blanket*

*He blinks for a couple of seconds and the shrugs.*

OH...Jackman...well, I didn't know much about him, and the only times I ever dealt with him...I won't lie he was the most idiotic person I ever met...but he really had the best intentions, and fought for what he believed in...

*He sighs with sadness.*

Even if we saved you Ene, I couldn't get Jackman out, you could say I failed him and the entire team for that...

*He then smiles as he keeps looking at the sky. But even if his entire body appears to be relaxed and happy, his right fist is being clenched tightly, it's trembling tighty.*

Yeah...your shop allowed me to see home again, even if it was a for a small moment...I still remember that one door I couldn't get through out of fear...even made up an excuse, that it wasn't working, but yeah...yuour shop really was something!
It was something I never thought would be possible to make!
Kids would love something like that!

Ene

*She tries to wipe away her tears*

*She fakes a smile*

Anyway this is supposed to be a party.

*She quickly stands up at points at everyone*

Now more depressing stuff people!

*he pauses, looking around. Of course he can see Kaz and Klib, and he seems to notice Superbia in the distance. He clenches his fists, as though steeling his nerves, as he looks at Ene*

*Superbia smirks at Gamma in response*

*She tilts her head*

*She taps her fingers*

I have never been to one so I have no idea.

*He sits up.*

*He turns to everyone with a slight smile*

*he waits another moment, before sighing, as though resigned to his fate*

*he runs to Ene, grabbing her hand*
I.. I'm sorry if the subject's rough for you, but I can't just leave it like that. You don't have to improve, I'm not asking you to do that. But I can't watch you beat yourself up like this. If you can get worse, then you must be able to improve. If you don't think you're good enough, then become more. I'll gladly help you, whatever happens. Just... Don't give up on yourself, ok?

A soft whirring can be heard in the distance until suddenly, a moped comes into view down the road, a large box strapped to the back of it. The moped pulls to the side in front of the party. The girl driving the moped gets off, light reflecting off her chrome, and she takes off her helmet, revealing it to be Labrys! She easily lifts the box off of her bike and brings it over, placing it on an empty table.

"Here ya are. One extra large Red Velvet Cake! Payment has been taken care of so yeah. Enjoy. Thank you for using our services."

She bows and puts her helmet back on and remounting her moped. She speeds off enroute to her next delivery...

Ene

*She looks at Gamma with surprise as her smile fades*

I-I don't get what you see in me ...

*She starts to look at her feet*

But I can never improve okay!

I was created from a crap personality to begin with so I have nothing to build upon!

*Her hands tremble*

Telling me that I can improve is like telling yourself that you can fly and then having it come true the next day.

*She calms down a bit as she looks at the cake*

Who exactly ordered a cake for this occasion?

*She picks up the cake and put it on a table*

*He takes out a large bag of candy and snaps his fingers. Before him appears a large black and red pinata. Which he proceeds to fill with the candy.*

I figured we could use a pinata to start the fun!

*He smiles warmly at the group.*

*The figure stares at the cake with a curious look*

*suddenly appears* I heard there was a party...you can't have a party and not expect me to show up out of nowhere.

*he breaks eye contact with Ene, to turn to Lab*

Wait, I haven't gotten to.... And she's gone..

*he focuses back on Ene, remains silent for a moment... He seems to think better of something, and instead speaks*

Why? Why do you think your personality's bad? That isn't something you should worry about. Let others think what they will, you're perfect just as you are. I... I didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Probably some kind of guardian angel, you know?

*He yawns and rubs the back of his head*

We should also play truth or dare, like when we did over a month ago!

*She tries to avoid looking at Gamma*

*She allows for the pinata to take her attention*

*With some forced cheer in her voice she speaks*

*he lets Ene go, for the moment, looking dejected. His eyes light up at Kaz's idea*

I'm with the demon guy over there. We should start by playing Truth or Dare.

*he thinks for a moment, before returning Ene's gaze*

Its.... Somewhere from my old world. I lived in the countryside, so nothing really happened often. Instead, I used to visit this place every now and then. It's a clearing by a fairly large lake, out in the middle of nowhere. The clearing was intended to be used to build a dock, but that fell through early in construction. They ended up building the dock on the far side of the lake, so you could usually see ripples coming from the other side of it. However, the clearing itself was mostly calm, as there wasn't really a road leading up to it, it was sort of in the woods. You'd probably never notice it if you didn't know it was there. Still, even without the dock the shore led into the water quite well. Useful for fishing or bringing along a small boat.

*She looks down at her feet*

*She guiltily looks around*

The sand carefully slopes into the waters of a massive clear water lake. The lake itself is calm at the moment as the sun lazily passes overhead. Across the lake lies a slightly determinate dock with a ship still lying on the sand.)

*She taps her head as if trying to drag out memories*

There wasn't really much good about my world. But this is one of the places I visited best. I lived about half a mile away, so it was realistic to walk through the woods and end up here.
It was kinda in the middle of nowhere so you didn't have to worry about being interrupted often. You could swim in it, take a boat, whatever you wanted. The lake was pretty, but even out here there was usually a lot of trash in it. People just... Aren't very considerate I guess.

(From beneath Ene a black snake head with brilliant red eyes pops out. It quickly slithers out from under her revealing it's tiny stature. The snake then looks at her hungrily as if waiting for something.)

*She takes Gamma's hand and stands up*

*She points to the snake*

*he looks at the snake, confused*

Well, there are some snakes. Like, rattlesnakes mostly. But none of those are black. Or that small. I've never seen anything like that before.

(The snake makes a menacing hissing noise at Gamma and then resumes starino at Ene.)

(It soon opens it's pale pink maw and speaks in a dark tone.)

Snake: Foolish girl you have managed to preserve me but failed to give me a decent body.
