Summer 2017 Anime watching thread
Today I finally begin watching the new anime season. This is going to be an in-depth report of my thoughts about each anime I decide to give a try.

I'll begin with Made in abyss, a series that looked pretty cute, but is rumoured to be quite gore. Here I go.

The art style is definitely neat. If there really is gore like the people on Nyaa said, this may end up looking a bit weird though..
I'll be waiting for recommendations for the season Liam. Don't disappoint.
yeah, that's the final aim of this thread. I'll send screens and comments so you can build your own personal opinion too.

Oh boy, an english opening ! Quiet and calm. I like it.
I have watched only two shows of this season so far.
Kakegurui
and Fate/Apocrypha

I should probably branch out more, but very little immediately appealed to me on premise alone.
yeah. I have to agree, this season is looking bad.

I don't think I'll be watching kakegurui. I'm currently reading the manga and it's proving to be really interesting. But somehow I feel like the anime couldn't quite catch that enticement I felt in the manga.

Kids are casually using what seems to be an electric chair to wake a robot up. Yeah there's no way such a safe plan could fail and kill them all.
Same on that aspect, but I decided I may as well watch it so I had at least one show I could actually watch.
I must say the OP is my kind of music, so thats enough to keep me watching.
I don't have it in mind right now, but I do remember thinking the same thing so I guess it has at least that going for it x)

I'm really starting to doubt what the people on Nyaa said. I don't get any "this'll get fucked up soon" vibes from this. I don't really know where this'll go though.
While there was no gore whatsoever in this first episode, anilist does indicate gore as well... Maybe it'll come in later episodes ? Anyway, Made in Abyss is definitely trying to be something good. I'll definitely keep on watching it.

Next up is Isekai Shokudou. This one seemed pretty popular. I'm curious to see what it's about.

And look who downloaded the wrong subs *facepalm

That feel when your white mage and ninja are arguing about what goes best with white rice.

Looks like this show's about taking fantasy characters and paring them with modern food. I long you can last with that concept though.

It does make for some funny sights though.
not much to say about isekai shokudou. It's definitely not bad. But it's by no means ground breaking. I'll see what episode 2 has in store before judging it any further.

Anyway, next up is Isekai wa smartphone to tomo ni. I picked it on a whim, thinking why the hell not. Not expecting much out of it though.
Not so sure about the first one, but that second one looks ripe for some nice laughs. I'll give both a shot though.

Well it's starting out pretty much like KonoSuba. Even more reason not to expect too much. KonoSuba was great, but a rehash can never hope to attain greatness.
Heh. Funny you say that. My opinions are the exact opposite. I feel like Abyss may just be worth my while.

This time however, instead of lugging a useless, no panties goddess around, Mc gets God's ( with a capital G) private number.

I smell huntering.....
Yeah this thing is subpar. I wouldn't recommend watching it.
As for the first one Liam, it screams Madoka. I don't know what it is...but those screen caps have the red alert blaring.

As for the second...it looks...I like the colors?
Well madoka wasn't all that bad honestly. Sure it's dark when you take into account that it's a magical girl show, but when you compare it to other dark anime or manga, it's nowhere near that crazy
anyway, I'm dropping isekai to smartphone whatever. I can tell it won't be able to entertain me in the long run.

Next up is. Jikan no Shihaisha. The title implies time shenanigans so this one may be interesting.
And ooooh boy am I right. I'm getting good vibes from this.

This dog looks kinda disturbing for some reason....

Oh no, it's an anime about Putin ! Is this soviet propaganda ??

Seriously though, this is looking good, though it feels like the action scenes lack a couple of frames, which is regrettable. This season in general seems to be somewhat lacking when it comes to animation though.

This is an anime I'll be watching. The first minutes got me hooked, and the rest is of good quality as well.
Mucho exposition. Baddy just sitting on his ass while characters talk. Oh well.
I like the jazzy feel the music gives.
Holy shit that last second reveal though. Now i'm kinda curious how they'll build on that.
Anyway, there's good and there's bad. I'll give it a try.
Next up is Principal Princess. Another thing I picked up randomly without thinking.
This is looking steampunkish. I like it. This one's opening is in english as well and it's pretty good. Lotsa good music this season.
Don't mind me switching alts.
Anyway, this seems like it'll be a good steampunk spy adventure. I feel like it'll quickly turn out to be one of the better series this season.
If it weren't for me talking on discord, I would already have finished this episode. It's really good though. Princess Principal is a must watch this season. Steampunk spy action done good.
That name sounds really cliche though.
Anyway, I'm too lazy to continue posting. I doubt anyone's bothering to read all of this anyway xD

i'll post if something neat catches my attention.
oh yeah it does. But don't let it fool you. it's a good first episode.

This is Tsurezure Children. A love comedy, apparently. The opening ticked me off since it featured 1.30 minutes of blushing fools, but it seems like there may still be some fun to be had. The mc proved me wrong by having actual balls, and femc made me laugh. I'll give it a try probably

ok, i stand corrected, this just may be a fun ride after all.
Can anyone give me suggestions?
@Getsmokedhomie
What are you interested in? I highly recommend Kakegurui. Otherwise this season so far hasn't really grabbed my attention. Granted only 1-2 episodes are out for each show so they can develop, but Kakegurui is definitely worth your time.
If you like watching kakegurui, you may as well read it. In my opinion the manga is much better.

On a side note, whatever I was quite excited about in here is also worth watching in my opinion. Mainly Princess Principal though. It's got a lot of style.
You should also be watching the new Fate, and some of the last season leftovers such as hero academia and Re:creators
I've read the manga and I think the anime is great too. Re:creators really wasn't worth it for me. Good premise, really shitty execution. I got bored real fast with it.
well to each their own I guess. I'm really enjoying it.
