Labrynth Arcane: Opening Act
Multiple posters cover an old building.

"Come see the Great Batesian!"

"Mystery awaits!"

"Admission is free!"

The door is wide open.

*Gamma walks by the building. He looks at the posters for a moment, and shrugs before walking in the door*

Inside is an area much larger than the building itself. Purple roses sprout from the walls, and the floor is checkered with purple amd black. A green gem pulses on the ground nearby.

*Gamma ignores the gem, instead looking towards the roses. He examines one of them closely*
Hundred-S
It has the smell of a rose, but upon touching it Gamma feels paper instead of petals.

*Gamma looks at the flower more closely. He carefully avoids the thorns, and picks one, putting it into a small protective case for later*
This is unique.... Perhaps I can give one of these as a gift.... Probably a bad idea....

Nothing happens once it is picked. It is a simple decoration.

The green gem pulses nearby.

*Gamma walks towards the door. He nearly reaches it, before turning back to the gem. He swings his metal staff at the gem in an attempt to break it*

* Sam enters the room*
What an old building. Still, free stuff is free stuff. Hmm?
*He notices Gamma*

The moment the staff touches the gem, the trio is blinded by a bright green light. As their vision clears, they find themselves in a new hallway. Probably the next floor, since there are stairs going down behind them.

*Gamma blinks at the light and turns in the direction of Sam's voice*
I've never heard of this Canas. Probably just a coincidence. You can call me Gamma, now may I ask who you're supposed to be?

*Gamma sighs and looks after Stella*
You're awfully excited to talk to someone you've just met Sam. Regardless, we should probably make sure Stella doesn't get themselves injured. Or not I guess, not really my problem.

Humph. I just thought you were an old friend is all. I won't make that mistake again.
* Sam heads down the hall*

*Gamma watches Sam head down the hallway after stella. Once they are out of sight, he turns around and takes the stairs*

The hall splits into two directions- left and right. The left side seems to have been damaged...

Down the stairs is an odd circle surrounded by a sea of shadowy spikes.

*Sam heads right.*
Not taking my chances there.

*Gamma walks towards the circle, freezing the ground ahead of him to check for and potentially disarm traps*

Nothing happens. The path is clear. He gets to the circle just fine... although crossing the sea of spikes to the hallway beyond is another matter.

To the right is a circle that glows with an odd light. If you had to guess, it's a magic circle.

The shot hits. However, the sound of something being hit resonates elsewhere within the area.

*Gamma strikes a pose as his persona bursts into life around him. It then sends a wave of ice towards the sea of spikes in an attempt to form a solid path of ice*

The scan reveals an odd property about the circle. Something about matter displacement...

*Sam sighs, before checking the scan results*

The ice instantly... vanishes?

Stella is warped to a different area. Behind her is a dead end, but in front of her, she can go forward, left, or right.

Oh for crying out loud. Now I;m alone. Some free show this is turning out to be.
*Sam turns back and takes the left path*

She comes across another circle. Yay.

*Shinji is walking along and notices the building and mutters to himself

Looks like a quiet place. Could be good to get away.

*He then walks into the building and follows Gamma

He finds himself on the second floor. A path branches ahead of him, and stairs go down behind him. Sam is taking the leftmost branch.

*Gamma doesn't notice Shinjiro coming behind him, instead focusing on the spikes*
So the ice vanished... But was it vaporized?..... I can't really tell....
*Gamma brings out his staff and uses it to carefully poke a spike*

The staff passes straight through.

What is this a maze? [Sigh] guess ill take a path and figure out this place.

*Shinji then walks over to the path ahead of him and takes a look around before continuing.

She comes across a sea of shadowy spikes with stairs on the other side. Fun. There's a long, windy safe path, though.

OOC: Oh. Ok.
IC: Am I in Russia now?
*Sam chuckles at his own joke, before looking up.*

A loud cry comes from up above as two dove-like creatures appear.

Enemy advantage!

Two Mirror-Eyed Prophets appear! Both attack with Freidyne, one hitting Sam and another hitting Shinji.

The spikes seem... shadowy. As in, literally made of shadow.

*Shinji then pulls out his evoker and summons Castor X, who very swiftly fires a barrage of gunfire onto the enemies, dealing severe gun damage to all

The module is set.

Riot Gun hits Prophet 1 (100/300), but misses the other.

Prophet 1 claws at Shinjiro and hits. Prophet 2 misses Sam with Kouga.

He feels a little mentally drained as he touches the spike.

-Stella-

The spikes reach a quarter of the way up her leg.
Sam
Pathetic weakling.
*Sam fires two wristbow bolts at Prophet 2. Medium gun/ electric damage.*

*Gamma sighs and summons his persona, an eastern dragon made of a ghostly blue flame. He attempts to use the light it makes to look at the ceiling and across the sea of spikes for something solid to latch onto*

Looks like these spikes have some sort of magic draining effect.

Nothing can be grabbed except for the rose stems... and even then, are they stable?

Explosions shake the ceiling.

*Gamma sighs and attempts to ignore the explosions*
Shiranui, Eigaon.
*3 Tendrils of darkness come out of Gamma's sleeve. He swings them forward, to wrap around three different rose stems, then tugs to see if the stems are stable*

Prophet 1 is killed. Prophet 2 is hurt (200/300).

A strike from Shinji brings Prophet 2 to 100 hp.

Prophet 2 panics, hitting Sam with Hamaon.

The stems snap easily. Rest in pieces, roses.

*Gamma sighs, he freezes the bottoms of his shoes in an attempt to protect himself from the spikes, and tries to run across to the other side of the hallway*

The ice melts, giving him glorious SP damage. He makes it to the other side, though! He can now go forward, right, or left.

Tch, my next strike will be the last.

*Shinji walks up to the remaining shadow with a intimidating stare, as his axe falls on the shadow.

*Sam sighs, before unloading 5 wrist bow bolts into Prophet 2*

The end of the hall is a dead end, but a Revival Bead lies on the ground. Sam could probably use that...

I'll take that. Guess I have to risk the anti-matter circle. Yay...
*Sam returns to the circle in the right corridor*

*Gamma decides it might not be a great idea to continue carelessly throwing ice around and walks down the middle hallway. He doesn't even freeze anything this time. Wow.*

*Shinji then puts away his axe and takes a look at Sam before looking at his surroundings, trying to remind himself what are he options.

Sam steps onto the circle and vanishes, appearing in a different area. He can see Stella up ahead.

Shinji can either follow him or go down the stairs.

-Gamma-

He rounds a corner and... congrats! From here, he can see the doorway he first entered, with the green teleporter gem glowing next to it.

*Sam goes takes the left path*

*Shinji takes another look at Sam, trying to figure out his deal before walking down the stairs into the unknown.

The left path in this new area is also a dead end! But at least it has another teleporter circle.

*Gamma sighs and tries to go back where he came from, to the passage with three paths*

* Sam sighs before taking the teleporter*

As he approaches the stairs, a... how else do I put it? A Mothman in a top hat and bow tie appears.

"ANOTHER GUEST GOING THE WRONG WAY. ME FEEL SORRY FOR PINK HAIR. ALSO, NEARLY FORGOT TO GIVE GREETING. ME GOT CAUGHT UP IN TRAFFIC."

Sam appears on the other side of the spikes. Stairs lead upwards next to him.

-Gamma-

He turns around and can go (relative tp his location) forward, left, or right.

*Sam goes up the stairs*

You know what they say, its the right path.

*Gamma puts his hand along the wall to ensure he can follow it and goes on the path to the right. He breaks a few roses along the way and uses them to mark where he has been*

*Shinji stops and stares at the creature, narrowing his eyes at everything he says.

*Shinji then attempts to move past the creature onto the stairs

Up the stairs is another gem teleporter and a curtained doorway at the end of the room. A Fancy Moth is standing next to it.

-Gamma-

This is a dead end, but he comes across another odd circle.

-Shinji-

The Fancy Moth flutters its wings frantically. "BUT... YOU WILL MISS THE MASTER'S SHOW! JUST TOUCH THAT GEM NEXT TO STAIRS, AND YOU WILL BE AT CORRECT FLOOR."

*Gamma decides the leave the circle alone and returns to the previous area, going straight relative to himself, and breaking roses along his path*
This is starting to feel like a waste of time.

*Sam talks to the fancy moth*
Hey, Moth. What's behind the door?

-Sam-

The Fancy Moth straightens up. "THE STAGE FOR THE MASTER! HE WILL BE PERFORMING VERY SOON."

-Gamma-

Okay, there is only one unexplored path, the path leading to spikes, and the entrance which has a teleporter gem. Fun.

Performance? The hell kind of performance is this?

*Shinji then walks up to the gem and looks at it,

Your saying this thing is magic? And it'll take me to this show?
Sam
Ugh finally.
*Sam goes through the door*
You need better lay out. Your maze is bad for business.

"NO. GEM TELEPORTS YOU TO DIFFERENT FLOORS. REAL SHOW BEHIND DOOR."

"DOOR ON HIGHEST FLOOR, I MEAN."

"ME WILL TELL MASTER THE COMPLAINT. COME IN." With a flick of the moth's wing, the curtain pulls back.

*Shinji then takes a hold of gem, keeping an eye out for anything suspicious.

*Gamma sighs, he doesn't seem to be looking forward to the spikes*
Well.... Here we go again I guess.....
*Once again Gamma decides to try simply running across the spikes. He's starting to hope he doesn't end up fighting*

*He enters the room*

He goes to the third floor in a flash of light, and is shoved into the door after Sam by another Fancy Moth.

The inside is completely dark. A spotlight shines on a snake in a top hat. His cape covers every part of his body except for his head and tail tip. His scales are bands of black, red, and white.

"Welcome to the Great Batesian's Spectacle of Illusion!"

As he shouts, the snake removes his hat, and numerous Mirror-Eyed Prophets fly out.

"I've got something big planned for tonight, folks!"

-Gamma-

He gets past the spikes and runs up the stairs. A Fancy Moth is waiting at the top with a soda. "ME THOUGHT GUEST WOULD BE TIRED. BROUGHT REFRESHMENT."

Ssssuper.
*Sam chuckles at his own joke.*
Damn. Gin is rubbing off on me.

Hey! HEY! Don't touch me.

*Shinji is pushed into the crowd and takes a seat somewhere glaring at the Fancy Moth, before looking at the snake, axe at the ready in case something goes wrong.

"Oho! I see someone has a sense of humor! Perhaps you'd like to volunteer? Or maybe your axe-weilding friend?" The snake laughs. "The Great Batesian welcomes all! But remember: you can only enter my circle of illusion once! It's the red ring surrounding the Great Batesian's stage."

*Gamma accepts the soda and tries to get past the moth*

Ok.... Not the first thing I was expecting. Care to explain to me what's going on?

So, what is this place? I thought this was some kind of abandoned house.

*Shinji keeps an eye out, watching the red circle very closely.

"MAGIC SHOW, TOUCH GEM TO GET TO WHERE IT IS. TWO HAVE ARRIVED ALREADY." The Fancy Moth points at the gem on the floor.

I think it's a theatre?

*Gamma sighs and touches the gem*
Great.... Looks like Stella and Sam got through this place first.

-Magic Show-

Gamma arrives at the third floor, and another Fancy Moth guides him to where the stage is,

"This? This is Labrynth Arcane, home to the Great Batesian's stage! Now, without further ado..." A deck of strange cards appears with a flick of his cape. "All of you come up, and one of you pick a card. Any card!"

OOC: Well currently we've got the three... Moody guys watching a magic show. So probably bickering for half a fight.

Outside, the door to the old building is open. Inside, the stage is set. All that is needed is for the "volunteers" to step into the stage's red circle.

Well.... Nice to see some new faces I guess. Kinda wonder what happened to the chick who came in with me though.. Anyways I... Nevermind, I see a card has been drawn already.

ic: The card seems to be a tarot card. IV is its number.

"Wait, don't tell me... it's the Emperor, right? This is the Arcana, if I'm not mistaken!" A Barong appears behind the snake in a burst of blue flames. "Let's hear it for my good friend Barong! Now to set the mood... what kind of stage?"

The snake tilts his head, listening to the shouts of the Shadows in the stands. "Space... yes, that will do!" The area becomes pitch-black, but a few stars appear to light up the darkness. Only the red circle remains of the previous stage. "Let us begin the show!"

*Gamma sighs, he isn't breathing heavily, but still looks tired*

Alright, Shiranui, Deathbound.
*Gamma's persona appears around him in a flash of light, forming the image of an eastern dragon made of blue flame. The dragon roars and a wave of force emenates out towards the shadow.

*Shinji pulls out an evoker and summons Castor X, sparks seem to fly as his muscles tense up, ready for a beat down.

Ok, that came out of nowhere. Regardless, we have our target I suppose.

*Gamma takes his staff off of his back and swings at the Barong. Normal attack bois*

*Shinji runs up and slams his axe into the barong, using both of his hands maxium damage, the charge helping to crush any resistance that it had

The smack hits. The Barong growls and shakes its head.

It doesn't seem to like Gamma's strike, either.

It backs up, trying to gain some distance, but Shinji's axe causes it to burst into flames.

"Aw, Barong's already down? A shame. Next card, if you will~" The Great Batesian laughs and makes the deck appear again, this time in Gamma's pocket/bag/whatever. Somehow.

*Gamma takes the deck out of his pocket and attempts to freeze the deck solid before throwing it on the floor*

*Shinji then takes his axe and cuts the deck in half, attempting to destroy it.

Well, that's one way to cut a deck. Ugh, I can't believe I made that joke. Kill me.

Do you really want to tempt we like that? But we've probably got bigger issues.

ooc: *smiles evilly* Time to throw down the Wrath of the GM.

ic: The deck shatters into little frozen pieces of paper... except one card flies out unharmed. The Great Batesian hums and picks it up. "What do we have here? The Star? It seems we'll be having double Satan today, sort of! The Great Batesian summons you, Lucifer!"

A six-winged humanoid appears behind the snake. The Great Batesian smiles and slithers into the shadows. "Have fun, Lucy~ Oh, and might as well make this final act be fair. I intended to pull out Lucy later, after all."

The party is somehow fully healed.

Ah great, nice going asshole. Castor X fill it with holes.

*Shinji then pulls out a evoker and summons Castor X, who rains down a tornado of bullets from the sky, trying to pierce the wings

*Shinji uses his evoker and summons Castor X, it hops around before raising his horse into the air, Shinji narrows his eyes against the enemy, preparing for the next strike.

*Gamma brings up his staff to guard Lucifer's next attack*

Lucifer finishes charging. Within seconds, a large, white explosion rocks the area. "Megidoladyne!"

It doesn't do as much as it should have, probably due to not being an exceptionally high level for some reason, but it still hurts. A lot.

"Good job, Lucy! He only knows that one attack, but it's enough to defeat you all! Just surrender yourselves to me or perish!"

*Shinji is blown back by the sudden explosion by gets up, regen kicking in healing some of the wounds

Yeah no, I work with physical skills, if you got a problem with that you can shove it up your ass, Castor X, show the shadow I'm not messing around.

*Shinji then summons his persona which slams onto the Shadow at full strength, crushing it with the weight of the horse

The Great Batesian yawns. "I agree. Bo-ring! Lemme speed Lucy here up."

Megidoladyne charge time eliminated!

Lucifer staggers back from the blow, and is hit by the Diamond Dust. If he's being hit so hard, why doesn't he flinch, or even limp in pain...?

Another Megidoladyne is launched! It hits even harder now!

"Fooorgot to mention that it gets 50 percent stronger with each use. The Great Batesian apologizes for forgetting."

Anyone who's paying attention may note that Lucifer seemed to bump into an invisible barrier near the red circle that surrounds everyone. Odd...

*Shinji is blown even further back, and gets up slowly backing up, his regen helping a bit but not a ton

What the hell! We ain't gonna survive at this rate. Think, damn it think.

*Shinji then puts his axe up the guard against the next blow, slowly moving backwards
Sam
A barrier. How intriguing.
*Sam thinks for a moment. He attempts to step out of the ring*
Bgammax
*Gamma, on the other hand, is now blown towards the red circle, possibly blown across. Regardless, he will get up and attempt to guard, now looking a little pale*
Hundred-S
Sam steps out of the ring, the starry arena changing to reveal the regular stage. Gamma lands beside him, also having his surroundings return to normal.

Shinji, who is still within the illusionary ring, is blown back by yet another Megidoladyne. However, to the outsiders, it looks like he is being struck by nothing at all.

Another odd thing: those who are outside the ring feel fine. As if they weren't hurt at all, although they feel like they should have been.

It's an illusion. Beanie! Get out of the ring!

*Gamma gets up and looks around relieved*
Hey, he wants to keep fighting that fake I say we let him. Guess I'm not allowed to be happy though.

*Shinji is blown out of the circle, barely holding onto life he slowly gets up, taking a look around using his axe to help him stand up

B-bastard... where did he go?

*Shinji uses his evoker and Castor X appears, his face goes dark as Castor screams into the air, when Shinji looks up his face looks demonic to the snakes, he then stares them down in attempt to scare them

The Great Batesian dodges the claw, but is terrified by the Evil Smile. He flinches as his snoot is booped.

"A-alright! The Great Batesian... I mean, I'm no magician! I just create illusions! I could never compare to the real thing! But... I can make sure the next labyrinth has a guide for you! I'll send a fancy moth over! Goodbye!" In a flash of light, both snake and stage are gone, replaced with the dull interior of the old building.

You know, he might be a slimy worm, but at least some effort was put into these roses. If this place doesn't vanish I might come back every now and then. Least I got something from this.... Adventure.
