Now, I know this probably sounds a bit similar to my previous thread, but well, I feel there is still quite a bit more into what makes a character, plus its not like the last one got much attention, if anyone wishes to talk about more general parts of a character, the link is here

Now, onto the matter at hand. Here, I aim to see what people like and dislike about how a character acts. Or rather, what makes a character, and often by extension a story, interesting or boring to read.
What, in my opinion, makes a character interesting to read about is not just what they say, its what and how they do it that reveals more about them. Unfortunately this is often handled by revealing their thoughts, but that makes any character revelations feel... Clunkier, as though it is forced. One should be able to get a decent idea of who a character is without reading their minds, as that is far more realistic.
On the other hand, they become far less interesting to learn about if everything they think is said, rather than done, or if they simply become a machine through which events occur. They feel empty.
Again, I would like everyone's opinions and for this to become a serious discussion, but considering how well it went last time, I'm not optimistic.
