A Journey into Darkness
(A continuation of the Journey threads, but anyone can jump in)

All in this strange domain are on the sandy ground of a cavern. Large crystals dot the dark landscape. The unlucky travelers that were called here are in the same red, hooded cloak, complete with a rather long scarf.
*suddenly appears*
Aoi shakes his head as he stands up, noticing Star after a moment. "And yet another person joins us..." He gives her a small smile, but his mind seems to be elsewhere.
*Kuu yawns and stretches as he stands in the sand, looking around him*

Where'd that pretty statue go? Stupid..... It keeps running from me...
In contrast to the bright, open atmosphere of the desert, Kuu can see that this place is more... lifeless. No cloth creatures, other than a few cloth strips here and there.
Sam
*Sam is sitting around, fixing his arm*
Seems it's just us.
...what kinda adventure did I suddenly appear in this time? There's nothing here from what I can see.
*Kuu notices Star and pulls on her arm to bring her forward*
Come on Glasses Lady. We're going on an adventure so I can find that statue thing again.
"There used to be some cloth snakes around, but now it's... as if he wants us to not go any farther..." Despite this, Aoi takes a step forward. Barely anything reacts. Even the crystals just sit there.
Okay, I'm coming. *Follows them because she's got nothing else to do*
Sam
This is getting boring. Let's move.
The group passes a few more crystals, as well as some cloth strips. The cloth floats around them sometimes, adding glowing symbols to their scarves, but become more scarce as they go along. Aoi stops in front of a tall cliff. At the base is multiple clusters of cloth "seaweed" waving lazily.
Huh...neat.
Sam
Must....Not....Push...Someone...For...Science...
*Kuu looks at the bottom of the cliff, then turns to Sam pleadingly*
D.... Do you think we need to go down there? I.... I don't like heights....
Sam
*Through gritted teeth*
Must... Not... Push... Kid...
Push me, I'm immortal.
Sam
*Sam pushes Star*
For science!
"No pushing the kid," Aoi says, with both annoyance and quite a bit of concern for Sam's... personality. He reaches out towards one of the cloths, and it glows at his touch. "Maybe we could float down with this."
*is pushed* fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.*hits the ground and dies, but Respawns back where she started* well that sucked.
As if on cue, Star is pushed off, and the "seaweed" glows. Her new scarf reacts as well, slowing her descent to a gentle float.
Sam
So that happens. Hmm. Fascinating.
Did nothing to stop me from dieing. But hey, now we know.
*Kuu looks at the "seaweed", and back to his scarf. So he jumps over to the seaweed and attempts to use his scarf to float up a bit*
Hehehe. This is pretty fun, don't you think?
Aoi smiles a little at Kuu and jumps down as well, floating to the ground with his scarf's power. "Flying is always a fun experience."

Once they land, they notice something moving up ahead. A large, flying serpent that looks like it is made out of metal. Its one eye acts as a spotlight while it lazily flies around.
I'll just stay up here and keep watch for anything weird...like that over there.
*Kuu attempts to hide from the serpent behind the nearest object*
I..... I don't like snakes. They're mean.
Sam
The metal serpent is my sort of thing. An intriguing invention. I wonder how it ticks?
Kuu ends up hiding behind something that may have once been part of a building. Aoi shudders and hides as well. "I've had enough of snakes. Typhoeus better not make this one an enemy, too..."

A few cloth strips float into the snake's line of sight. Its eye-searchlight turns from green to red, and it turns about half of them into ash with a laser blast before going on as if nothing happened.

"...I was wrong to hope that."
I recommend we don't go that way, and if we do, then we go around the giant flying laser snake.
"Where do we go, then? As far as I can tell, this is a long tunnel." Aoi waves a hand at the path ahead, where remains of stone buildings litter the area.
*Kuu looks around at the stone buildings, before peeking out at the serpent again*
W.... Well we should definitely avoid it... B... But it doesn't seem to have seen us behind this thing...
Sam
All we have to do is not get caught. It's a machine, so it must have a routine. Stay out of it's gaze and we'll be fine.
Oh...well then...how about we run away from it if it starts to laser us?
"Good idea... and the orange-haired girl's idea will be Plan B." Aoi takes a deep breath and runs into the open, darting behind another stone wall. The snake's searchlight passes over the wall but doesn't change color.
*Kuu looks around, uncertainly.... He's trembling, but as soon as the snake looks away he follows Aoi*
D.... Don't run off without warning....
Actually, fuck it, I'm immortal. *Suddenly on a Segway (what the fuck?), She jumps off the cliff and segways her way to cover...no seriously, what the fuck? I, the narrator of Star, demand a Segway as well.*
Sam
*Sam follows, floating down on his drone and joining up with the others*
As the Segway appears, anyone who pays attention will notice her scarf's symbols gradually disappearing. As soon as she's safe, the symbols run out, and the segway stops working.

"Sorry. I'll let you know next time," Aoi pats Kuu's head and glances out at the serpent. It is turning to go back to the far end of the room.
...well shit. Guess I can't be lazy about this...or slow. Seriously, this thing is like, what, ten miles per hour? I can run faster than that.
W.... Well.... The thing's looking away, I... I'm gonna go for it again.

*Kuu attempts to run for the next nearest ruined building, hiding around its side so the snake would not be able to see him if it turned its head, if there's enough time he'd go for the second nearest building as well*
Aoi runs after him. Despite the noise the two make, the snake doesn't even notice. Aoi skids to a stop just before he is about to make a break for the other building past their new safe spot. The green light just barely misses his feet.
Hmm...maybe...*grabs a cardboard box and starts moving to cover the only way someone with a cardboard box knows how...by solid snaking it.*
The cardboard box is attempted to be summoned... but with the scarf drained, it never appears. The searchlight approaches her.
Sam
Magic runs off of the scarf. Even yours, it seems.
...shit, my powers don't work...welp, at least I still have immortality! *Runs the fuck away to cover*
*Kuu looks at Star with concern*
S.... Sorry glasses lady. Most stuff doesn't work here. But I can float with my scarf, see?
*Kuu's scarf glows and shrinks as he goes into the air a little, but he quickly sets himself down to remain hidden*
Welp, that roll was terrible. Star reaches Aoi and Kuu, but the searchlight turns to red. Thankfully, all the blast does is singe her a little and cut half her scarf.

The snake seems more restless now.
Ow, ow ow ow! That could have gone better. Welp, only one thing to do! *Starts grabbing debris and tries to make portable cover*
Star... manages to make a bootleg sneaking box. Somehow.
*Kuu looks at Star with confusion, but seeing as the snake had recently passed, runs for the next closest building, proceed this way whenever possible*
L.... Lets just get past here... A.... And quickly.
Sam
*Sam just casually past the serpent, his tower bow in his hand*
See me, and you lose an eye, serpent.
Nailed it. Now, time to Solid Snake it to better cover. *Does exactly that*
Sam
*Walks past
Aoi runs alongside Kuu. Thankfully, the serpent is busy... with someone else.

Its eye turns red as it blasts at Sam, singing his shoulder and burning his scarf in half.
Sam
*Sam shakes his head before fireing an arrow at the serpaents eye, before vanishing into the shadows. of the ruins*
*still solid snaking it to better cover*
The serpent screeches and blindly flies off. The area is... safe?
*Kuu looks around, relieved that the snake is gone, he walks out in the open*

HA!!! Take that mean serpent guy.
...well that happened... I'm keeping the box by the way. Definitely good for stealth, of which I'm good at.
Aoi sighs. "That took way longer than it should have..."

Something golden gleams up ahead. Another statue?
Sam
So, if he see another one, I'll just shoot it in the face. Simple.
*Kuu catches sight of the shine up ahead, and begins to walk towards it, paying little attention to his surrounds*
S..... Shiny.... I WANT IT.
*fashions up a few straps to carry the box without using her hands from nearby debris and joins with everyone else*
The group runs up to the statue... but as soon as they approach it, two green beams of light converge on them. Both turn red. The statue's eyes gleam just as the tell-tale whirring of the snake machines is heard...

[A flash of red light.]

[A black serpent, taking on the mask of a bird.]

[The same black serpent, this time with a mask resembling Aoi.]

[And then...]

[It's Typhoeus...]

[...]

ooc: AAAND food time
There's light.

Yet unlike normal, the light is coming from the water itself...

Wait, water?

The group awakens in some kind of glowing liquid. Aoi flails around for a second, but soon realizes something: "Wait... I gam breathe?" He looks around at the interior that resembles the buildings from the desert. A few cloth snakes swim lazily through the strange water.

Beside Aoi is a golden humanoid with silver arms for wings, which looks around with as much wonder as the former.
...huh...I don't remember passing out...meh, whatever. But hey... we're not dead.
Sam
Wait? Are we in water? No, it can't be. I'd be electrocuting everyone if it was.
"Whatever it is, it's-" Aoi begins to use his scarf to float upwards, but bumps into the humanoid. It flaps its wings in surprise. "...Icarus?"

With a closer look, it seems most of the area is submerged. Some cloth "seaweed" covers the bottom. A few cloth snakes chase each other around a rock, while some poke their heads out of one of the side rooms.
Well, whatever the case, we're alive, so that's a good thing. The question now is where to go from here.
*Kuu looks around, confused, but soon attempts to move towards the snakes chasing around a rock*

H..... Hey.. I wanna play too...
Sam
Let's get out of here. I hate water. Especially wet water.
The snakes look towards Kuu in unison. One of them nudges a strange device towards the child, which looks like a single-button remote.

"Yeah, the water's pretty, but not exactly fun. Let's go." Aoi uses his scarf to get to the surface, and Icarus follows. Above him is a glass ceiling. A towering pillar reaches towards the top, and a yellow-eyed figure in a white cloak stares down at them from it.
*Kuu grabs the remote and looks at it quizzically, before turning back to the snakes and pointing at the button on the remote*
Welp...at least the box is safe. Should hold up to a bit of water...I think. *Follows everyone else because she doesn't know where to go.*
*Hibki joins the others* I really need to stop sleeping here.
"Good to see you awake, Hibki." Aoi waves at him before looking up at the figure again. "Now we just have to get up there..."

The snakes nod eagerly, trembling with excitement.
*Kuu shrugs and pushes the button, looking at the snakes eagerly*
The button creates a loud pinging sound. The snakes swirl around Kuu eagerly, glowing even brighter than usual.
Sam
Fascinating. A control device.
Yeah, that's pretty cool. But hey, I can make a box out of a bunch of debris, so...hmm...oh! I know exactly what I'm going to make after this adventure!
*Kuu giggles and tries to imitate the pinging himself, putting out his hand to pet one of the cloth snakes*
Hmm, see if you can get us a snake as well.
The snake pings back and swims under Kuu, lifting him upwards and out of the water. The other snakes look up as if waiting for the remote again.
Give us the remote so we can get a snake.
*Kuu yells back*
Just grab onto a snake and I'll hit the button again. Then we can ALL have one.
*Hibki gets on a snake holding on tight enough to stay on but no so hard as to hurt the snake*
*grabs one as well*
Sam
*Sam hangs onto a snake*
*Kuu starts giggling again as he pushes the one button on the remote*
In unison, the snakes ping and shoot upwards. They all gently set their riders down at the top of the pillar, where the white-cloaked person is just... sitting. The only thing visible of them is their yellow eyes. Icarus lands by Aoi and seems to glare at the figure.
*suddenly disappears because lag... somehow*
Hi, sorry to disturb you, do you know where we are?
"This is... a domain created by my other self's subconscious. Aoi can explain more, isn't that right?" The person speaks calmly, but the tone is somewhat condescending.

Aoi growls. "You're... you're part of that guy who possessed me? Are you trying to trap everyone else, Typhoeus?" Icarus glares at the figure as well, spreading its wings.

They hold up a hand. "Now, now, no need to be so mad. I am merely a Shadow. The Shadow that reveals my true, empty self."
*Kuu looks around, seemingly bored, the whole conversation seems to have flown over his head as he starts petting one of the cloth snakes*
Oh this again, I'm tired of you. Something tells me we aren't in the real world anymore though.
The cloth snake nuzzles him.

"The child seems to have taken a liking to that creation. I suppose I can use my power to send it back with him." Shadow Typhoeus shrugs. "Doesn't matter anyway. I can create all these domains by shifting reality into a... more abstract plane, and take on any mask, but what am I, really? Look at me. I have all this power, all these wonderful creations. Who cares if I'm empty? I have all the power in the world in here!"

Icarus charges forward, but the Shadow narrows their eyes. "Agidyne." A blast of fire knocks both the Persona and Aoi back. "Honestly, could you calm down for five seconds? I'll bring your friends back to their world."
I'm not going unless Aoi can come back as well! I don't trust your harmless plan.
Sam
*Sam leans on his staff*
Why should we trust you?
*Kuu starts to nod off before he hears the sound of the Agidyne, which wakes him up and causes him to walk towards the figure, waving his arms*

H... Hey... B... Be nice... N... No fighting.
"I don't intend to give you Aoi. Besides, I cannot send this Aoi back at the moment, since this is merely his consciousness residing in this world of my mind. His actual body is with my other self." The yellow eyes gleam. "THAT is who you must speak to. I shall not fight, so do not worry, child. Every moment of strife will be gone eventually. After all, what strife can be caused by an empty tyrant?" The Shadow laughs, and the area shimmers, replaced seconds later with a grassy hill.

There is no trace of Aoi or Shadow Typhoeus. All is peaceful.

ooc: And, delayed by a bike ride and site crash, this is the end of the Journey stuff. Could have gone better, as I'm more of a numbers person than a narrative one, but I learned quite a bit from this.
OOC: glad to help, im the same way.
