The Concept of Chance & Finality
As the small group stepped through that second door, the white light slowly gave way to a darker atmosphere in the center of… what seemed to be Shibuya, of all places, but something was off. Looking towards the sky, dark storm clouds swirled above the center of Tokyo, but most distractingly was the skyline, as several tall buildings had collapsed, and four towering white buildings could be seen from a fair distance away, but back on the ground, they group were cornered in an odd way.
The young woman looked desperately around, but could find no exit. Expressionless civilians were crowded in large numbers, walking without purpose, but with the dense crowds, it created a living wall of sorts. Though the young woman, the group that chased her, and the door were in a spacious clearing, there wasn’t any escape for those who were unable to do something near flying over the densely packed wanderers.
Turning behind her to witness those who had followed her, the young woman begins shaking. “I-I…..I…. I-I-I-I-I…. didn’t… d-d-didn’t….â€, her stuttering felt just as unnatural as her movements. Afraid of what could happen, she takes the risk, she takes the first move.
“P-P-P…. Persona!â€
As she yells, a sound akin to glass shattering is heard as the phantasmal form takes shape behind her. A figure resembling a bronze statue, though with plating broken up to expose inner clockwork, the humanoid figure stood imposingly, its sharpened feet only touching the ground by its toes, and its legs wrapped in thin bronze sheets resembling wings. Though it had no arms, from its shoulders hung platforms connected to its shoulders by chains, as though the whole being was a scale. Though one of the more noticeable details, the clock imbedded in the beings chest, began to pulse as the clock hands slowed to a crawl. The pulse sent out by the Persona causes the crowd that followed the girl to feel slightly lethargic…
The Concept of Chance & Finality
The crowd behind had been noticed by her, but it just gave all the more reason for her to not stop. The chase continued, this parade of strange individuals running through the streets, continuing for a few minutes more, before the woman in the mask would quickly make a turn, seemingly finally reaching her objective. She dashes forwards with hands outstretched to open the white door, and run straight through. The white door stood by itself in a small clearing by a park. No walls, only the singular white door that in the moonlight, seemed to glow. Despite not connected to anything, the woman clearly did not end up on the other side of the door. There was nothing else to do to figure out what was happening than to open the door… and step inside like her…
Inside the door, there was a library, a large, spacious round room. In the center was a round table, lined with books. The table had multiple books arranged in a circle, most shut, but they all had plaques under them. Only two of the books were open, and... blank, and while nearly every plaque was blank, there was these two plaques under the open books that bore inscriptions.
“A Gathering of Fools.†directly in front of them as they entered, and opposite them, "Three Voices Intertwined."
Opposite each book, on the wall… were doors similar to the white door that one must enter to reach this place, with bookshelves tightly compact between each door, nearly overflowing with literature. Matching with the books, each door across a closed book was locked. Thus only two doors were unlocked. The one they had walked through, naturally, and opposite of them… a door opening to a bright light. The woman’s footsteps could clearly be heard., this was the door she ran through, but what was on the other side, one could only guess.
Is it worth it to walk through though? To turn around, leave the library and continue in blissful ignorance, or walk through… this could be quite the opportune moment to…
